    I disagree on cost advantage of Berkey. You need to add in the cost of the flouride filters for the Berkey which last only 1000 gallons. Requires 6 sets of two ($61.00 a pop). Alexapure does not require an extra filter for flouride. Advantage Alexapure.

      The Berkey website technically states the black filters already filter out fluoride and the white fluoride reduction filters are for "increased protection and assurance," which sounds like a price grab IMO. Nevertheless, I choice to go with Alexapure as well.

In regards to the height of the unit, I know with the Berkey, there is a stand that you can purchase to go with it to get is off the counter top as well.

      I discovered a old candle stand I had that had a wide plate that held 3 candles with rocks around it was the perfect stand to hang it over my sink. Then I just put a pitcher in the sink to catch water when I'm ready. Plus I purchased a 2 gallon Tubberware pitcher off Ebay to filter the rain water thru coffee filters before I put it in the tank. After going thru 6 failed filters and really 2 more replacement filters from Berkey I have moved over to Alexapure filters. The rain water is so much more clear.

    I have had my Alexapure water system just shy of 1 (ONE) year and my filter has stopped working. According to the description, the filter should last approximately 5,000 gallons. I estimate that we use 2.5-3 gallons per day. 3 gal * 338 days = 1,014 gallons! Nowhere close to 5,000 gal.
    If the estimate for the longevity is so off base, I have to wonder how accurate the claims for the purity of the filtered water are. When I called customer service about my problem, I was told that the filter should last 6-8 months. WHAT?!?
    Extremely disappointed!!! And a new filter is NOT CHEAP!

      Agreed. You need to put ALL FOUR filters in, and you will see a huge increase in volume. I dropped 500 bucks on the Alexapure with EVERYTHING including the extras, the spare parts, blah blah blah. I believe the filter from Alexapure is slightly BETTER than Berkey as well according to many folks who are willing to actually test the filters. Berkey won't send their filters to a true testing facility because they know they will not do as well as tested, but their claims are that they are the BEST! I would personally go with Alexapure, but I will say berkey is better looking with their chrome finish and nice parts.

    • @heinzkitzvelvet
      @heinzkitzvelvet 2 года назад +7

      @@idaho2085 the weight of the water in the top tank creates a pretty decent seal. I just always used 1 filter at a time. The filter would flow great until the bottom started to fill and the air couldn't get out. Then, it slowed down to one drop every couple seconds. I used to tip the top tank back, that let it flow properly but it was not a good solution. It fell over a couple times and dumped water everywhere.
      Then I found this product online that's basically just a straight plastic tube that bolts into place of one of the filter holes. It stops just below the lid of the top tank and allows the air pressures to equalize. Allowing the filter to flow right and the water spigot to flow properly as well. I love it.

    Regarding 'overfilling': On my Berkey I have a long, clear tubular filling register that is part of the spiggot; absolutely fantastic. Strangely, Berkey no longer sells this very useful - and to my mind, essential - component (it was an added cost, but well worth the price given the fact that you always know what the level of the water is in the Berkey without having to lift the lid). I mean, Berkey...WTF?

    Just need a sight glass. If you had one on the bottom container that would tell you how much was left in the bottom. If you had a sight glass on the top container going by how much is left on the bottom you know exactly how much to put it in the top container according to the sight glasses and a little simple math.

    • @helm311
      @helm311 2 года назад +1

      Yeah true that's exactly what I do. I'm just saying could have been designed a little better. Why not make the top transparent. Anyway when you lift the top it's still doesn't tell you exactly how much to put in. It's still a estimation how much to put in at the top versus what you have in the bottom. I'm just saying it could have been a better design. No reason for a debate. Still a good product works very well filtering my water. Where I live they add a lot of chlorine and God knows what else to the city water. Running through the filter and it tastes better than most bottled water. Anyway thank you for your reply have a great day.

      @@bruttosporcoecattivo you probably have discovered this by now - but yeah... colloidal silver is used widely as an antimicrobial/antibacterial agent" and is used by the US military. The condition you mentioned is due to VERY high doses on a regular basis. (See "papa smurf" colloidal silver). Other people do use it in higher doses for a variety of conditions on a regular basis and have suffered no ill effects.

      Silver was used back in thr day to keep bacteria at bay. Before refrigeration people kept in fresh milk to help it keep. Also... look up colloidal silver. Good stuff.
      Don't fear silver... add it

    You replied to someone's comment saying you did tests on the water..........you didn't show any test results or even leave a comment about test results. How do you know it removed fluoride? What tests did you do? What is the ppm on the output water???? Without knowing ppm results, how can you compare anything other than cost? You didn't show anyone why Alexapure should be your next purchase. Pretty much a pointless video without test results.
