Hey thanks so much for the video. I'm thinking about buying a new battery and install it myself, it's really scary so it's comforting to have a tutorial. Also grateful for including the battery specifications in the description. I didn't realize that Dell has such comprehensive documentation for... well, everything. Makes feel more prepared if I have to haggle with vendors.
Thanks for the help, I managed to fix my laptop by just disconnecting the battery and powering on with the power supply. I then powered down and it worked fine when I reconnected the battery. Makes a real difference when videos like this are uploaded 👌👊😁
In Dell's official manual for 5406 and in the service manual also, AS REPORTED BELOW, the are two optinos for battery. Option one a 11.40 VDC options 2 a 15.20 VDC. Battery specifications Description Option one Option two Battery type 40 Wh, 3-cell "smart" lithium ion 53 Wh, 4-cell "smart" lithium-ion Battery voltage 11.40 VDC 15.20 VDC
Where is your video to show how to copy the info from the old hard drive to the new one and reinstalling everything? You mentioned at the end of the video you would provide a link and i cant find it unfortunately 😢
There's a lot of empty space, can the battery be replaced with a bigger one? Even from different dell models. Also, is the notebook made from plastic or some parts are made with aluminium?
The service manual shows a larger, 53Wh, Type H5CKD, and there are mounting hole to the side to accommodate this. Presumably this is offered in some markets (wasn't an option here in the UK) and is a direct replacement for the 2K6Y6 battery. The H5CKD battery is also used in the Dell Latitude 3510. I'll add this information to the description.

Hello, I'm considering getting this but I am concerned about battery life. Can you please comment on battery life under regular use with no gaming? I use laptop for MS Office, email, and video streaming. Thanks so much! I love your videos!. Houston, TX, USA
Given that there is some extra space to the left of the battery, will it be possible to put a 53 Watt battery version, that is being installed in a non 1-in-2 14 5000 inspiron?
Thank you for the multiple videos on this laptop which I just bought in the I 7 version . would it be possible to recharge it through the type c port ?!? it should be power delivery.
@@BrueComputing Great to hear because there is no sure information any where i've looked for !!! which charger and how powerful did you buy ?if I may ? Many thanks for the quick reply!
wh measures the battery capacity. I haven't tested what rate it can charge it - may be 45w as per the standard adapter, or may draw more and charge faster with the higher power USB-C adapter.

@@BrueComputing one battery is 11.25 volts, the other one is 15 volts. Big difference... not sure charging support is there, if it works at all.

Anyone got a link to a larger battery upgrade within Europe ? Looks like it would slot in nicely there
Do you lift up or pull out on the battery connector.
Very good!!
Thank you
Is password required for battery replacement?
If you have a password set then you'll need it after restarting the machine, but you don't need one to do the battery replacement.

I've just posted a video looking at battery life here: ruclips.net/video/rtGunrG91OM/видео.html
Can I increase my battery to 50whr
Yes, if you fit the correct higher capacity battery it should work fine.
Given that there is some extra space to the left of the battery, will it be possible to put a 53 Watt battery version, that is being installed in a non 1-in-2 14 5000 inspiron?
I believe so - there is a picture of that in the service manual. I may purchase one myself and test it.
@@BrueComputing it could be very interesting

@@BrueComputing pls let me know if you did so!!!
I just installed the H5CKD 53w battery and everything appears to be working. It hasn't burst into flames yet.
can we charge it with 45 watt charger/power bank ???
