I really fancy buying this but at the same time I always have my phone on me for those odd occasions when I need a short throw torch. Hmmm, it is lovely though. That little info display and it's USB-C.... tempting!
Debating between this TINI 2 and the $10 cheaper TIP SE for EDC pocket carry. I consider these type of lights as small enough to always carry, like a Leatherman Micro, SAK Rambler, or similar. They’re 'something’s better than nothing' that requires minimal real estate and can be conveniently EDC'd when you feel your Spiderco and 1000+ lumen aren’t necessary at the time. From what I’ve observed about these lights; Both have USB-C charging, decent lumens, battery life, lighting presets and easily carried. The TINI 2 offers a charging port cover, the display, and a non-parasitic battery drain button lock feature. The slightly larger TIP SE has the multi-use clip for using on a hat or pocket and to cover the buttons preventing accidental discharge. The TIP SE is a really nice light and the $20 TIKI is also very interesting, but the TINI 2 is looking good for me with the what it offers.
Ya I wanted to see a size comparison with the TUP because I have one already and to me it's big for a keychain but I have been looking for something a bit bigger
I like it better than my Roxyvons. It holds the turbo longer- even though you have to hold the button continually. What I really like is the 2 button UI- it's so handy. And once you get used to the locking system it's brilliant. Of course the oled is super useful.
First! Is this better than the TIP SE? I think throw and run time are my most important attributes (as long as the light is tiny, which is most important to me)
The TIP SE is 200 lumens and 100 cd brighter. But only has 1 meter more of throw distance. Looks like the TINI 2 has very similar runtimes but has 10 hours more batt like on ultra low but half of the batt life on high...which is crazy.
Turbo is for emergencies, its like these companies dont understand that. You need turbo to be INSTANT (no delay) on, with no cycling whatsoever. Everytime, without fail, maximum brightness. And any brighness shifts or stepups should be on a separate button. Such a shame that the UI (which is completely typical with modern lights) is unsuitable for the actual intended and proper use of a turbo function. In many ways, because of overly feature rich UI's, flashlights are actually going backwards. PS: I was an infantryman, private investigator and repossessor in the most violent city in America (2022) for a combined 25 years.
Im sick of lights with too many functions. They’re falling in the category of a multitool with too many useless tools that exist just to justify its own existence.
that's a good comparison. We need something equivalent to leatherman skeletools for EDC, and they're seemingly all making the Wave plus. Heck I don't even like strobe mode. I want on, off, and then maybe a twistable head for a low output mode. With as much output as humanly possible. And that's it. Good review btw, thanks very much for posting it.
