My camera records for like 7 seconds then says "movie recording has been stopped automatically" how can I record without it doing this? Its really annoying
+Starr Girll Not sure if you ever figured this out, but this is probably due to your memory card not being "class 10". I had the same problem because the card that came with the camera was a class 3. This has to do with how fast data can be written to the card. Make sure your cards are class 10, and you should be good.
Sherri Frediani try using a memory card with more memory space :) you can also look up a bunch of videos on the problem and try different things until something works if that doesn't fix it :)
I have a class 10 memory card of 16gb with a higher mb of 45 MB/s. It's EMTC brand yet I still have the problem of it stopping automatically when I record....
I filmed a video with canon 550d, but when i wanted to post it on instagram it says that the qualiy is too hight! ( i have sumsung s5 ). Can someone help?
How do you get the autofocus to focus while recording video and I noticed that you had a full screen while recording to as I have 16:9 frame lines top and bottom. I want to get rid of these black lines so I can record video at 4:6 as you are doing?
I have Canon 550D and my Camera records for 6-7 seconds then says '' Movie recording has been stopped automatically'' how can i record without it doing it? Its really annoying.
I have the Canon 2ti and trying to record for an hour, my memory card is a 64GB Sandisk Extreme card rated at 80MB/S. I'm only shooting at the lowest resolution and it will only film for about 10 mins (4GB) then cut out. Any secrets to stop it from cutting out? Thanks kindly.
I also have a t2i but a SD 16gb Kingston, and I only can record for 4 to 8 seconds, then it says it had stopped automatically, did you found out why is this going on with the t2i? please help .-.
Ok, so the right answer is that SD cards had different class of speeds, so that was whyi was getting so little of time and also that the SD i was using was very low on GB, so my suggestion if you want to record a few hours on hd is the 32gb class10 that should be of great use, of course gb you use the more time you'll have to record.
it's not about speed it's about file size. class 10 is like the ram of the pc, 32 gb is like the hard disk. more class you have more resolution you can record, more space you have more time you can record. BUT fat32 flash disk has the limitation of maximum 4 gb for file, so at 1080p you can record maximum like 10 minutes. magic lantern on most canon cameras will do the trick for recording more than 10 minutes ;)
Why do we need to format each time before recording? I was able to record without formatting. Btw I'm not getting HD quality video like Aaron Franklin. My card seems to be a level 10 i think cause there's a "10" on it.
What you say about higher resolution uses memory card more quickly is not right in this case because 720p shoots with 50 frames which ends in a pretty similar size Only 640x480 will save space but look shitty in return. For smaller size try Magic Lantern and reduce bitrate.
you dont press the button you ususally use to take pics. you press the one for display. take a closer look at the video the guy highlights the button you shoud use
@Nasibbey Use a name brand Class 10 or a Sandisk Class 6. Sandisk cards perform faster than they are rated so class 6 is more like a hypothetical class 8. If you can afford a Sandisk Class 10, that's even better. The camera stops because the card can't keep up with the video being written to it.

it'll be your memory card, mine did this too, you can either just format the memory card on your menu (that worked for me) or just invest on a much better quality memory card :)
This happened to me and i was so confused. It's the type of memory card you're using. I can't remember off the top of my head but theres different 'classes'. You need the top class. Google around and you'll find out.
Hi, are you familiar with "photo SFX art" (just google it)? On their website you will find a good free video demonstrating the best way to take brilliant photographs. This made it easier for Joe to take photographs which leave you with that wow-effect whenever you look at them. Hopefully it works for you also.
You need to get a higher class memory because you can't record on low ones due to the low writing speed they got. Get a class (10) memory card and you'll be all fine :) Make sure it's above 30mb/s
change your memory card into grade eight or ten...the memory can read faster and can record as long as u can (it depends your capacity of your memory card)
It's not the class alone. Fat32 is the file format on SD and the limit is 4GB. So even though I'm using a class 10 card, it still stops at 4.28 GB exactly every time. Can't believe they're still using this outdated system with this shitty limitation! Phhhhh!

4gb is the standard limitations for file on fat32

You need a faster memory card. I personally use a Sandisk Extreme card rated at 80MB/S.

Very Useful thank you so much. I ordered a new SD card and the problem was gone.

how do you format it?
Change the size of your recording to whatever works... for me was the lowest (640 x 480). :)

It is probably the memory card is not capable of writing the data quickly enough. Try borrowing a faster card to prove the point first.
