Does anyone know if the American version called CARLY OBD2 car scanner work? I tried using the link provided in the video but it says it’s not available in the states.
When you connected the lights with the correct adapter did they work previous to coding ? I bought adapters off of eBay and only one outter light seems to work and at that not fully
Great job and looks the ticket. Nice video. Just a quick question before I purchase all the required parts. Does the Carly adapter have to stay connected to the port in the footwell all the time or can it all be disconnected after the coding has been sorted / warnings disabled etc? Cheers.
Thank you very much for this wonderful video. i'm just wondering that could you do the same sort of coding for E90 Lci tail light upgrade. Also do you have to upgrade the FRM module in order to perform such coding. Cheers
Irshad Jamaldeen thanks for the kind words. Coding should be the same for the E90, I can’t see why the FRM module would need to be replaced. However on the E90 M3 (not sure about other models) a new boot is required to fit LCI lights as they are a difference shape from pre LCI.
You coded while the car was running? Usually car should be off and ignition accessory is on. Can you confirm that you coded with the car running? I could tell from the audio after you started the car and cut to next edit.
MDCR I’m 99% certain it’s them. I checked europarts (your links) but they are all sold out. Cheapest I found on another website is €500 for all 4 pieces (lights) is that a good price?
Good video. Quick question- the inner boot lid light on the wife's 2011 e92 LCi coupe is gone. There no bulb in there right? I just order a new inner boot lid light from euro carparts... It's integrated into it, ya?
Barry Morkan the line pattern is not lighting? Seems rare enough for LEDs like these to go. I’d take it out and have a look before ordering a new one if I were you.
Hi there, thanks for the video. I’ve got an e92 pre-lci (2007) and I’ve bought the tail lights and the harness. Once I’ve got everything installed, the lights don’t work at all. I’ve tried disabling all the warnings you have on the list, but no luck. Any clue what could be happening? I’ve installed them with the key on and you did it without the key connected, maybe is that? Any comment or help is more than welcome! Thanks in advance 😊
Esteban Satorres They work pre-coding so it won’t be coding related if they’re not coming on at all. Have you tried refitting one of the original lights? If it doesn’t light then I would look at fuses next.
MDCR thanks for your quick reply! I found the problem. It looks like the pins on the adapters (the connectors) were completely wrong. Once I connected them on the right way, they worked. Thanks for your help!
ashish sharma yes the process should be the same. However, the part numbers are different for the e93. The lights are physically a different shape and I believe the harness is different too.
When using the Carly which I have, do I still have to use the heat sink very hot resistor? I tried using the same style LED tail lights on my 07 E92 and hade the faults. Now I have an 09 E92 and still have the lights. I've had the Carly Pro for years and never realized I could code the light faults out. But do I still need the integrated resistor which gets too hot ?
Is it true that the inner lights different than the outer in the lci? The inner double tubes are darker than the outer double tubes. I changed it with a new original and the difference is still there.
MDCR I will explain. I bought an E92 lci. It had original taillights. I noticed that the inner (trunk) part was darker red than the outer part. I first thought this was due to mold accumulation inside the lamp caused by water. This same problem was also with the inner taillights of the E46. So I bought a new original inner lci taillight set by BMW. I replaced it and the problem remained. I guess the tubes of the inner and outer part are made of different materials. The weirdest part is: I only noticed this in my E92 lci. I guess yours must be the same. Maybe aftermarket sets light up equally.
The dealer BMW parts department in Kalifornia truly has an abysmal Kumputer data base for their parts; main issue: Not e'nuf space for a description, thus a 'down-pipe turbo clamp has to be sorted out from the words 'clamp, exhast'; which can take 20 minutes, as the actual clamp was udpdated in 2011further befuddling them.
Just did this yesterday and used this video. Only video about that takes you by the hand ha ha good tutorial and coding list, helped a lot.
Brilliant video, and nice to see someone not editing out mistakes we all make!
Extra thanks for the carly coding list too, not too easy to find!
Cheers for the feedback David, we really appreciate it!
Great to see an Irish representation. Doing this to my 335i at the weekend so this video will be a great help. Thanks a million.
Very detailed! Thank you, will follow you guys for more e92 335i content
Cheers Tony.

Nice camera work.Good episode.

Once programmed it’s done and you can disconnect it. It’s essentially just a window into the cars various computers.
Nice video, I used this for my conversion too. Cheers guys!
Nice to see another Irish automotive RUclips channel. Got a new sub bro👌
Need4vtec cheers dude. Subbed back 👍

Great video lads! 👌 I presume all the parts and connectors you used will be the same for my 2009 e92 320cd?
Gerard Doherty providing it is a pre-lci e92 then all the parts will be identical. E90 and e93 use different parts

What diameter is rear tailgate badge ? Do You have any link where to get it ?
Does it completely disable the warnings or just change them to work with LEDs?
WillJCJ completely disables warnings for the selected lights.
Thank you so much mate

Where is the link for the tool when you take out the clips on the inner lights? The bended screwdriver.
Sharo Ahmed if you search “trim removal kit”
on amazon you find a number of kits with this tool 👍

Greetings from Ardee. 05 E90 here ;)
Very nice lci tail lights👍
Hi mate . Do you think I can upgrade these lights on my 2009 convertible 320 d as well?
ashish sharma yes the process should be the same. However, the part numbers are different for the e93. The lights are physically a different shape and I believe the harness is different too.

Hello, no. You dont need it, but you have to code via Carly.
Code via carly
@@obdseguro5901 Can I just disconnect the heat sink and jump the two wires together eliminating the sink?
Is it true that the inner lights different than the outer in the lci? The inner double tubes are darker than the outer double tubes. I changed it with a new original and the difference is still there.
Not sure if I fully understand but if you want
To do the full conversion you need to change the inside and outside rear lights.

Are these OEM Lights?

What the hell are you saying?
Coding while the car is running?
AD777 Some modules you can, some you can’t. I do it on the FRM2 all the time. Saves the battery 👍🏼
Great video but I need subtitles!
What do you guys think of the upgrades?
Nice upgrades, nice camera work too 👍🏾
