Sandal is believed to be a Dwarf Elf mix and rumored to be the first magic wielding dwarf while he is not 100% a dwarf if all that is true.
To be fair, that's probably gameplay-story segregation. Or, more specifically, design-story segregation. The character designers and the animators would have to create three different versions of him.

Garrus1995 It's just hinted here and there that people came out some theory that: 1. Qunari and Elves have same origin. 2. Qunari's race(or blood) is not natural and related to dragon.
Interesting how he mentions that the Quanri blood doesn't belong to their people. Also, Corypheus taunts the Qunari Inquisitor by saying "What do they call you, a Qunari? Your blood is filled with decay, your race is not a race, It is a mistake!". I wonder what they both mean by that, they both mention the blood of the Qunari.
Old God kiren gives away so many secrets even before the DLC or plot explains them. What he says about what elves look like is a reference to the vallaslin being slave marks. He mentions the Titans and their connection to dwarvan magic. He hints that Iron Bull may be right about the qunari being experimented on and being banished by the Kossith.
I wish you could talk more to Kieran in the game like you could ask him about his father and stuff like. Inquisitor: I hear your father is the Hero of Ferelden Old God Kieran: Yes my father killed the one that once held the old soul. No God Kieran: Yes but don't call him that to his face he hates the attention. Or Maybe Inquisitor: So where is your father now? Old God Kieran: He seeks a way to cleanse his blood and drive out the dark song. No God Kieran: He went on a adventure I wanted to go to but mother said no she never lets me do anything.
What concern's me is that he mentioned his mother is waiting for the next age to be the "inheiritor." that's what gets me. Thanks Bioware... way to troll us.
I feel like when OGB Kieran talks about Qunari blood he's talking about dragons. Because I remember when you kill a high dragon with iron bull I think he hints that they come from dragons. I also think when he says that dwarfs can't become taller without the Titans I'm assuming he's talking about golems
Remember when you let Dagna take a sample of the stuff from the fade she says she felt like she was tall, as tall as a mountain, and her thought was the thoughts of all her people. This isn't about golems, this is something else entirely, why dwarves can't be mages and can handle lyrium so well.
SunnyDragonfly I think that the dwarves used to do this a long time ago regularly but the knowledge was lost during the First Blight. I think the Primeval Thaig might be connected to it. Maybe they used the titans as a way to watch over their old kingdoms whcih is possibly why they were able to hold it for so long but when the First Blight came it destroyed their way to use the titans and thus they began to lose each thaig.
If the Titans aren't actual beings and were more like the Eluvians for the elves that would make sense but I have another theory. Perhaps they were another creature, separate from spirits and mortals, creatures that predated the fade's first interactions with the earth. Maybe they were part of the very stone itself but when spirits came they were "quickened" shrunk and made mortal. Either it's an entire race separated from the fade like the tranquil or they were never apart of it. I have no idea, this is all just speculation.
Dorian Thomas I feel as if the Kosith were some kind of Elf/Dragon hybrid. As for the Titans Dagna (The dwarf in the armoury) talks about feeling really really tall and being part of every dwarf when close to lyrium. I think that when the fade was part of the world the Dwarves were linked in a hive mind. *THE STONE*. Cole and Solas also hints at the Dwarves being "more than they are now" once and that they should "feel/hear the call of the stone/old song" In the western approach there are two statues that have a codex that talk of a great titan in the desert that spoke of eating the "blood of the earth" (lyrium?)
Keiran telling the Qunari inquisitor “your blood doesn’t belong to your people” really makes me believe in the dragon blood mixed with elves theory. Especially with Cole telling Iron Bull “they’re not bull horns, they’re dragon horns. You should be called The Iron Dragon.”
Old God Kieran redirects an Eluvian to the Fade, something that Morrigan says that requires a tremendous lot of power. A hint of how powerful an Old God can be.
So....we have an old god child that clarifies some things. Qunari seem to be cursed since their blood is not their own. He mentioned Titans with the dwarfen race. Elves got old blood, meaning elves also existed in the age of the old gods (duh, dread wolf and mythal) and they seem to have looked differently as well. Makes you wonder what kind of worl Bioware tried to establish there. Is it just me or is the old godchild the most fuckin interesting thing that walks around in that castle :D?
I really love how they did this. Like he doesn't realise how he know it, he just does & he says it to you with all that childish innocence he has. Kinda makes you think of what the darkspawn want if the worst of their kind (the Archdemon) can be trained to use his knowledge & ability for good
Well, it can be surmised that it is the taint that corrupted the old god causing it to rampage and lay waste to the surface. That was an outside influence affecting it, causing it to behave in a way that it typically wouldn't unless provoked. We still don't know exactly what the Old God even is let alone guess at what it's natural behaviour might be. In the comics it's shown that one of Flemeth's daughter's has some sort of control over dragons (and high dragons) because she speaks to them in an unknown language and acts as a guardian to them while also waking more up from stasis. It was why she wanted Alistair and partly why Maric went missing. (he had to uphold his end of the bargain that he made with Flemeth in The Stolen Throne novel)
dominic marino There is a theory that the Kosith were Elves that were fused with Blood of Dragons and were wild and uncontrollable. the Qun keeps that in control and the Breeding made them less... Dragony?
It should also be noted that Cassandra said her family had Reavers (those who drink the blood of dragons to harness their power) and their greed made them consume more, resulting in uncontrollable rage, often slaughtering entire families, scales, and growths. Cole also says The Iron Bull's horns are more like dragon horns than a bull's. Sten also murdered an entire family in Lothering. The Qunari revere King Calenhad, since he himself was a reaver. And Bull's ability as a reaver may be biological, since he carries dragon blood in his veins.
Bioware has retconned way bigger things then that. If they wanted Morrigan to have a son and he did not exist in your world state they could just say she had had a child with some random guy and he just didn't show up in Inquisition. I doubt they would do that though. If they really wanted to make him a companion it would be easier if they just had a human male mage named Kieran who has a striking resemblance to this Kieran. There would be probably be story reasons to explain Kieran and his mother (morrigan or not) were seperated when he was a young teen. If you import a save where Morrigan had the child there could be minor dialogue changes where he mentions his childhood and eludes to Morrigan and possibly his father but probably for story reasons again he would keep most of it hush hush. If Morrigan is not the mother it would be the same thing but less dialogue and elude to some apostate mage being his mother. I think that would work pretty well and be cool.
I think he should be a comp too in a dragon age based In the area the qun is in or the tevinter emperium, with the time gaps between games considering he was conceived in origins and hes 8 here it looks like it could be a few games tho
I can't tell if Old God Kieran is malevolent or not. When he's not spewing ancient mysteries he seems like a normal boy, but some of the stuff that comes from Urthemiel is really unnerving. At the same time he says he feels bad about what happened to the Qunari, meaning untainted Urthemiel feels sympathy in some way. Or maybe I'm just overthinking a goddamn video game
I'd say we should differentiate between untainted Urthemiel and Kieran, as in their personalities. The latter is probably hearing things/whispers from the Old God and is just voicing what he's been told plus his own opinions about this or that
That's very interesting about what old-god Keiran says about the Qunari's blood.. that "it doesn't belong to your people." EXCUSE ME, WHAT?! I'm very curious as to what this means...
I really hope Kieran becomes a potential party member in next DA game (that is if the next game takes place 10 or so years after Inquisition so he'll be in his late teens to early twenties)
The next game will probably take place in 3-5 years after Inquisition ends. Whatever your choices, it's stated that the world is not particularly fond of the Inquisition sticking around as a type of police force.
@102802959233689052289 Yeah but eventually over the course of however many games it'll be 10 year's after Inquisition so we could still see him return. Really wanna see what kind of person my canon romanced Morrigan child turns out to be.
Hm I don't think he will be around. He's too hard to continue on in the plot. They may mention him and he may make a brief appearance again like Connor.
Urthemiel isn't Kieran, (spoiler ahead) when Flemeth removes Urthemiel from Kieran she tell him no more dreams and he says he feels lonely. This shows seperation between the two and Kieran was able to get information from Urthemiel, probably speaking to him like the Well of Sorrows.
According to Bioware, each age lasts a century, and the Dragon Age, by the time of of Inquisition, is on the 41st year. So, it's unlikely that the age is going to end, but it could be a clue that Morrigan has the longevity of her mother. Or since Morrigan wants to bring back/preserve the old magic and knowledge, maybe the return of it marks a "new age" in Thedas in that it would change practically everything. Can't know for sure until Bioware tells us though.
Flemeth refers to this major change several times. To Hawke she says: "Only when you fall can you know if you can fly!" She tells Hawke to be ready for the calamity. Even half way through DA Inquisition I realized Corphy-whateva was not the cause of this calamity. And did Flemeth sound worried when she spoke about this change? No. She can't wait for it to happen.
Morrigan might inherit the Old God soul Flemeth has or she may have to be a carrier of a different God Soul. As she sort of mentioned, Morrigan understands much more than she states. Flemeth has taught her for many years about her destiny.
CorvusColluder "People fear the next age if it comes too soon" perhaps something unnatural is moving things in a way faster motion than it normally would? Still though, what is this change?
I like that they gave him a curious happy child side and that he sounds like he has asthma. (Fun fact: Kieran's voice actor is the son of Morrigan's voice actress!)
"I don't know why your people want to look like that." Well this certainly explains why elf blooded humans, dwarves or qunari show no physical signs of their elven lineage whatsoever.
I love this kid XD OGB or not (though *spolier* he ends up not by the end anyways) this kid is great. I've grown way to attached to the idea of him, Morrigan, and my canon Warden as a family I literally can't let any other warden be his father. I know out there on his quest it's just paining my Warden that he can't be with his family. Agh, my heart.
What in the heck :/ I know what Kieran says some weird stuff to elf and mage inquisitors, but holy moley, what does DR!Kieran mean when he's talking to a Qunari or dwarf. Hope that gets addressed soon
If you take The Iron Bull with you when you kill a high dragon , in the dialogue back at skyhold he talks about a legend of the qunari being descendants of dragons. My guess is that Kieran is confirming that.
Ethan Hackbert I don't know but the Qunari has pointy ears just like the elves, maybe a stray group of elves from old Arlathan drank some dragon blood, just like the Reavers and end up becoming Qunari some how ..... Or maybe not. It's just a theory .... A Game Theory XD
Glad this was Recommended: HOW DID HE KNOW ABOUT THE TITANS!!! That is like the biggest yet smallest moment of a Lore drop that could have possibly been placed in this Universe!!! I sure hope they build upon the "Decent" DLC in Dragon age 4
Just love how gentle and curious Kieran is when meeting all versions of the Inquisitor. He doesn't see the world like the adults do as well as has not fear to who many are afraid of. Such the joys of still having a pure untainted mind, gentle heart and just plain wonder of 10ish child. Kieran no matter what origin he came to be shows a child who has not been exposed to the cruelness, horror and evils of the world despite he has an OLD GOD in his blood in some playthroughs.
I wish he looked more like Morrigan so no matter what his father looks like, he would look like a child of Morrigan. And I hope he would look alot better if ever he will appear in the future DA games. I might have a feeling he will become a romance option for DA protagonist after 10+ years of the story, if ever he existed.
That's brilliant! And weird now that I think about it... I played DAO yeeeears ago and then imagine playing a character that romances the child of your first DA character... Lol!
Really late to this but I'm disappointed he didn't inherit the golden eyes. It probably only passes to daughters, but it would've been an interesting contrast.

And dwarf human relations aren't that common. So I don't know, prob look like a smaller human or tall dwarf. Sandal is believed to be a Dwarf Elf mix and rumored to be the first magic wielding dwarf while he is not 100% a dwarf if all that is true.
To be fair, that's probably gameplay-story segregation. Or, more specifically, design-story segregation. The character designers and the animators would have to create three different versions of him.
animeotaku307 oh no Im not insulting or questioning the developers Im just making a bit of fun of a small flaw.
Sorry; I'm bad at detecting that sort of thing. :P

I was half way typing that into google translate before I got the reference.

It's an Attack on Titan reference. "SIE SIND DAS ESSEN UND WIR SIND DIE JÄGER" are the opening lyrics to the famous intro of Attack on Titan.
I also thought about Attack on titan when he mentioned them XD
He feels bad about what happened to the Qunari? What the hell happened to the Qunari? I WANT ANSWERS!
+Garrus1995
Rumor has that Qunari are actually dragon-blood-buffed elves
呂紹熙 Where does that rumor come from, exactly? I've never heard it before.
Garrus1995
It's just hinted here and there that people came out some theory that:
1. Qunari and Elves have same origin.
2. Qunari's race(or blood) is not natural and related to dragon.
呂紹熙 Well then the question becomes how and why they have the blood of dragons. Hopefully there's more on that in future titles.
Those Tevinter bastards. Always screwing around with shit they have no business meddling in.
omifucking this kid is precious "no i think elves are pretty"
Human Kieran is freaking adorable :).
Inquisitor: I hear your father is the Hero of Ferelden
Old God Kieran: Yes my father killed the one that once held the old soul.
No God Kieran: Yes but don't call him that to his face he hates the attention.
Or Maybe
Inquisitor: So where is your father now?
Old God Kieran: He seeks a way to cleanse his blood and drive out the dark song.
No God Kieran: He went on a adventure I wanted to go to but mother said no she never lets me do anything.
You forgot "he died before I was born, they say he was a hero. mother doesn't talk of him often. It makes her very sad."
TOO PURE FOR THIS WORLD.
Please don't let anything bad happen to him or his family, please don't bioware...
I really love how he giggles about the ears. brings out the little kid in him thats hard to miss.
Kieran has really interesting dialogue, thanks for this.
guess who the actor is?
KeybladeMasterMind morrigans VA's son
venrus12312 i still believe that us too awesome.
The ears gave me away, didn't they?
Yes, they're very large.
That one was funny and cute for me. 😆
I finished The Descent yestetday
then I heard here that Kieran is talking about the Titans
my mind has just gone to the Stone
(or the titan...)
What concern's me is that he mentioned his mother is waiting for the next age to be the "inheiritor." that's what gets me. Thanks Bioware... way to troll us.
Kieran's so cute oh my gosh
I feel like when OGB Kieran talks about Qunari blood he's talking about dragons. Because I remember when you kill a high dragon with iron bull I think he hints that they come from dragons. I also think when he says that dwarfs can't become taller without the Titans I'm assuming he's talking about golems
I feel like the titans were something else, something that hasn't been revealed yet but subtly hinted at.
Cole and Solas also hints at the Dwarves being "more than they are now" once and that they should "feel/hear the call of the stone/old song"
In the western approach there are two statues that have a codex that talk of a great titan in the desert that spoke of eating the "blood of the earth" (lyrium?)
“Shit, that would have been a better name than Iron Bull.”
Kieran is clearly a big hint of what an unTainted Old God would be like...
Old God Kieran redirects an Eluvian to the Fade, something that Morrigan says that requires a tremendous lot of power. A hint of how powerful an Old God can be.
Holy Hera, I want to know what the heck Kieran is talking about in these! The Inheritor? The Titans? WHAAAA?
If you do the Dark Ritual at the end of Origins, he gains the soul of Urthemiel. If not and you romanced Morrigan, he's just a normal kid.
What are the Qunari? i want some more back-story, bioware.
dominic marino There is a theory that the Kosith were Elves that were fused with Blood of Dragons and were wild and uncontrollable. the Qun keeps that in control and the Breeding made them less...
+Spencer Allen Another theory is the Scaled Ones mencioned in The Descent codexs: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Scaled_Ones
"No. I think Elves are pretty."
My heart: :💕💕💕❤❤💜💙😭😭💕💕💓💓💓💓 *SCREAMING IN CUTENESS*
Imagine how much strange lore secrets would be spilled if we got to see Sandal, Kieran and Cole in the same room.
He senses magic even being a normal Kieran, so he is a mage either way! I would like to see him or even play foe him in DA4 !!!
Kieran should be the next protagonist.
+Snake in the Sky he will never be the protagonist maybe a companion because that would lock race/gender too much and everyone would riot
yeah, better a companion.
He does not even exist in all world states. Would be hard to fix lol
"If you can sense magic, don't ever become a templar."
"I can't the lyrium gives me *terrible* dreams."
Wat.
The latter is probably hearing things/whispers from the Old God and is just voicing what he's been told plus his own opinions about this or that
@@bulat8362yes this. When Flemeth takes the soul Kieran doesn't lose his, just that he feels lonely, suggesting they had some kind of companionship.
This child is so freaking adorable
***** the kid's voice is real and morrigan voice actor son
Ah odin black, budding voice actor in the making :)
I DID notice the connection haha
Claudia Black, Odin Black
Odin Black is adorable. I hope to see him do some more voice acting. ^__^
God child Kieran knows too much. "Your blood gave it away"
"Titans can only make you taller"
The best part is there is still that sense of naivete
That's very interesting about what old-god Keiran says about the Qunari's blood.. that "it doesn't belong to your people."
EXCUSE ME, WHAT?! I'm very curious as to what this means...
Kieran is such a sweet child, it's kinda sad, given his purpose.
That is an amazing idea! Kieran could be the most powerfull battlemage of the world, the King of Enchanters
Hm I don't think he will be around. He's too hard to continue on in the plot. They may mention him and he may make a brief appearance again like Connor.
The problem is, if you didn't romance Morrigan during Origins, OR you didn't do the Dark Ritual, Kieran doesn't exist
voiced by Claudia Blacks son! He's so cute!
he wears the grey warden insigna on his shirt that is so freaking adorable.
I'm not sure what weirder, the fact Kieran says weird stuff about your character or that your character doesn't picks up on it...
Aww, that kid is such a sweet!))
UUUHGH HIS VOICE IS SO CUUUTE
Urthemiel being a creepy child is probably the most eerie thing in this game
Urthemiel isn't Kieran, (spoiler ahead) when Flemeth removes Urthemiel from Kieran she tell him no more dreams and he says he feels lonely. This shows seperation between the two and Kieran was able to get information from Urthemiel, probably speaking to him like the Well of Sorrows.
“I don’t know, you seem nice for someone who kills a lot.”
Yeah that’s my wardens son alright
protect this small bean at all costs
Could that line about Morrigan being the inheritor means that the Dragon Age(not the game, but the actual era) is coming to an end ?
+ChibiMieko 0:20
CorvusColluder "People fear the next age if it comes too soon" perhaps something unnatural is moving things in a way faster motion than it normally would? Still though, what is this change?
I feel like him and cole would be friends
Shame Flemeth stole his Old God soul. I was so curious to see how he turns out when he grows up
I wish he could say something about his father if you romanced Morrigan.
I like that they gave him a curious happy child side and that he sounds like he has asthma. (Fun fact: Kieran's voice actor is the son of Morrigan's voice actress!)
Old god Kieran probably almost became the most poweful mage in the history of Thedas
Keiran is so much more alive when he isn't the vessel for the soul of a dead god.
Every time I hear kieran's voice I think to myself "dude, take a second and have a deep cough"
I can't wait for more of this character
"I don't know why your people want to look like that."
Well this certainly explains why elf blooded humans, dwarves or qunari show no physical signs of their elven lineage whatsoever.
This is the first time I'm seeing him. He's so adorable!
old god kieran scares me.
You caught me. And I was trying so hard to be taller.
I know how you feel brother.😂😂🤣🤣
What in the heck :/ I know what Kieran says some weird stuff to elf and mage inquisitors, but holy moley, what does DR!Kieran mean when he's talking to a Qunari or dwarf. Hope that gets addressed soon
Human or old god, he' s SO ADORABLE 😍
The blood of the qunari doesn't belong to them?!!
what's the meaning of that? D:
what happens when you mix Kossith whit dragon blood ? QUNARI! TADA!
If you take The Iron Bull with you when you kill a high dragon , in the dialogue back at skyhold he talks about a legend of the qunari being descendants of dragons. My guess is that Kieran is confirming that.
Or maybe because he is Tal-vasoth now. Maybe he doesn't really mean blood blood.
i'm pretty late on this but are Qunari really dragon descendants? D: That's so crazy I don't get it.
Kieran understands the dwarf struggle
Respect +100
PETITION FOR DRAGON AGE 4 TO INCLUDE KIERAN HE'S INTRIGUING AND CRYPTIC AND IT WOULD BE SO COOL TO GET TO KNOW HIM
Gaunter O’Dimm is probably this kid’s uncle and I suddenly want fanart of that.
The Kid Voice is so cute! Where do they find these kids with such adorable voices!
+Toshimurra reeder The boy's voice actor is Odin Black... who is Claudia Black (Morrigan's VA)'s son.
This kid scares the bazoozes out of me.
"Your blood doesnt belong to your people"
The sweetest fucking child ever born oh my GOD
I wish he looked more like Morrigan so no matter what his father looks like, he would look like a child of Morrigan.
And I hope he would look alot better if ever he will appear in the future DA games. I might have a feeling he will become a romance option for DA protagonist after 10+ years of the story, if ever he existed.
I solved that by having a brown haired guy as my canon Warden.
Iron Bull mentioned that he feels alive near dragons. Might tie in with the whole "you're a mistake!" and "blood not of your people." thing
"I noticed your blood, it doesn't belong to your people". I am VERY curious about the Qunari now.
OGB Kieran is creepy.
"Human Baby" Kieran >>>>>>>>> OGB Kieran
yes the Human is adorable and Morrigan say only for the Human kieran in one of her banter that she will protect him with her last breath, also Human Kieran can born only for love without Loghain and Alistair.
.
Greg Liptai He is adorable and awesome none the less.
Good lord Old God Keiran is basically a ball of spoilers.
Kieran reminds me, that even in the 3rd game (years later), peoples are still scared of magic, as we would be if it arrived suddenly to us.
"No, I just don't know why your people would want to look like that"
Wait so what is the true elven form than?
