I Reported a Client to Adult Protective Services

- We get a lot of scammers trying to pull stuff off on us. But this was a new one for us. A client of our was being scammed and we became aware of it because they wanted to buy 2 of our Ferraris. I tried my best to convince the client that they were being scammed, but they wouldn't listen so eventually I called adult protective services.

Dan,i work in Scam prevention.I see these things 4-5 times a day.We had a Lady take her own life after losing her life savings. Its very sad, you did the right thing. Thanks for caring.
Yeah it's really sad how many shitty people are out there
Dan being a responsible adult. Kudos to you Dan for doing what you did.
Thank you
I’m definitely joining “Only Dan”. Good job trying to help out. Bought a car and went to the bank to wire the funds. Had a long disclaimer read to me. Was asked by 3 separate employees if I was being scammed. Last one said if you are in distress or being forced to “tap the desk”. All banks have the disclaimer. This particular bank was crazy with it. At the same time scammers are stealing billions.
That's really good your bank does that
Amazing. You’re a good man and clearly a good family. Thank you Dan and Meg.
Thank you
You're right to refund his deposit. I respect you for doing that. Unfortunately, someone is going to take it from him. What a world, huh?
Yeah I thought about that
@@normalguysupercar But there's nothing you can do about that now. Let's just hope that he will see sense and not flush those 2000 dollars down the drain, too. You and your wife did the right thing.
Your actions went above and beyond! Bravo!
Thanks
You’re not just a “Car” dealer, you’re a “SUPERCAR” dealer!! 😊
Well thank you
You’re a good guy, Dan. It’s rare to find.
Thank you
It’s amazing how gullible some poor people can be
Honestly it's everyone in the right circumstances
@@normalguysupercar true
I do well myself, I have been around several very wealthy people. If you think this is unique to pour people, you are seriously mistaken and have a very strange perception of people in general. Rich people fall for cons and scams all the time. Some more often in fact, because they think their net worth makes them more "safe".
@@AB-80X I agree but they preying on ignorant and ill informed that’s this is a sound investment strategy
Yep, just look at how many people believe the election was stolen.
You definitely did the right thing. I probably wouldn't have gone this far because I'm worried about my own liability. Good on you, Dan.
I was not worried about him hating me
So sad. Hate seeing people get taken advantage of (especially the elderly) by the scum of the earth. Hopefully he didn't financially ruin himself...
It was very kind of you to try and help the gentleman.
Thanks
I immediately thought " if the money is going to be worth so much why wouldn't the scammer just keep it?" Gotta ask yourself stuff like that... keep yer head on a swivel guys!
Yup

Aw man, he's probably going to hate you but you did the right thing. Most people would have just refunded the deposit and told him they couldn't do the deal. In the long run it should be better for him.
My mom had dementia and was targeted by these kinds of scammers. Once they realize someone doesn't have the mental faculties to know they're being scammed they take full advantage of them. Fortunately I realized what was happening before it went too far. I had to keep a very close eye on who she was talking to from then on and trust me when I tell you they are relentless.
Yeah
Insightful story and really kind of you to look out for someone that is being taken advantage of. Thanks for sharing about it
I appreciate that!
Stay vigilant, great channel!
Always!
When I spoke to my 70 year old stepbrother who lives in Texas a few years back, he still believed the Iraq Dinar was going to make him rich. Tried to explain to him, and even offered my money manager for him to call but he was adamant. He's also was getting scammed for work from a member at his church but that's another story. Keep up the interesting content:)
Yeah it's unfortunate
Good you returned his deposit- he has converted that to trillions by now.
Yeah I thought about that
That was very nice and thoughtful of you to try to help this guy.
Thank you
awww i feel bad for him and you're so nice for not holding firm on the deposit
Yeah I felt so guilty even taking it once I found out what was going on.
Dan, you are a decent guy. You do not fit the profile of a 'used car salesman'. Good on you!
Thanks
Dan... you are good people. Scammers suck. When I win the lotto, I am buying from you!!!
Appreciate it
If it sounds to good to be true ............ Good on you for snapping him back to reality , if you did.
Salt I don't think so. He is still texting me regurgitating the scam.
Gotta love Meg's way of doing things. Straight and to the point. No if's or but's, just do this because that's the right thing to do.
Yup
You did your part. God bless.
Thank you. I tried
Had an 09 Box S for sale a few yrs ago. A "lady" texted me wanting to buy it. Got more suspicious as we went along. Finally decided to call her bluff by calling her #. A guy answers and "she" wasn't there (even tho we'd just sent a txt). By now it's about 5 red flags. She finally called back. Had her send a photo of her driver's license. She did and "she" did exist. She and her husband were going to come to look at my car (they were from an adjoining state). Had them meet me at the sheriff's office. They arrived, husband drove the car, he liked it, she bought it. I said she was setting off all kinds of red flags. She said she'd done a lot of homework and looking and knew my car was exactly what she wanted. So you can never assume something's a scam because once in a 100 times it isn't.
OK, but this situation, the dude is being scammed. Just google it.
Good job, Dan. You did the right thing. AI is only going to make things like this worse.
Oh man it really is
Dang, that’s tough. Nice that you did what you could to try to help. Most places just would have moved on without taking the extra step you did.
Also, I see a lot of license plates behind, do you need one from ND? I buy too many cars I probably have 10 or so sets of extra plates….
We're good on plates. We have a huge box full of them. Lol
You can say it, you’re anti-North Dakota 😂
It's good to see you know how Karma works. It's not hard to be a good person it just takes making the choice. Cheers for trying!
Yes indeed
Hey Dan that’s really nice of you to help out your client just a sad situation before the euros we had in Holland the Gulden and before that the Florijn I have both of them as a novelty it’s only for someone who wants to collect them they don’t have a lot of value in Holland there are also people scamming older people with their scams from fake banks it’s sad I really is a lot of people fall into these traps it’s in the news a lot greeting Dennis
It's really sad how many scammers are out there
Its very sad because a lot of times, and I know in hindsight its hard to believe, but these people aren't stupid. So when they fall for a scam, and its in the back of their head that this is a scam, they shove it down because the thought of it being a scam is embarrassing. I have been able to prevent family members from getting scammed, but its a scourge that targets mainly the elderly and the disabled.
Yup
Man oh man, blows my mind there are people that gullible. My mom’s best friend got scammed for like 40k TWICE! Horribly sad
I think it's pretty common
You are going to be very surprised followed by anger…your choice
Huh?
Humans are strange. Most Americans need to take a financial competence course to begin with.
Agreed
Unfortunately, some elderly people cannot differentiate something that is a scam or something legit. They tend to trust too much and lose their logic and reasoning. Trustworthy family needs to take over their finances when they start losing their faculties.
You have good values, good on you!
Thank you!
They call it 'Elder Financial Abuse' in my area
Yup
Family should have gotten involved.
We tried finding some of his family online and reached out to them first. No luck.
poor guy atleast he came across you and maybe got some help. i doubt it though you can only help those that want it.
Very true
You're a good man, Dan.
Thank you
Wow! Very sad, good on you
Yeah. It's really unfortunate
You're a good man, Dan.
(YT keeps eating my comments!)
Thank you
You did the honorable thing
Thank you
Nice work Dan
Thank you
I have a friend whose elderly dad fell for a scam. Someone called him and told him that if he bought a boatload of I tunes, they would pay him for the tunes with a rebate on top of what he paid. The dad's nephew promptly took him to his bank and put stops/watches on his accounts.
Yeah it's a serious concern for when people get older
We had a student's mother scammed for about $300K by a Nigerian guy. He actually came to Korea to close the 'deal.' Nothing we said to her changed her mind.
You can't fix stupid.
Ugh that's terrible
Good job Dan!
Thanks
I clicked on this thinking I was looking at Ed O’Neil. Damn… hi Dan… looking good man! ✌️🤙😂
Lol thanks

I've been wanting to get some of those Zimbabwe notes, but I don't think the price is worth it.
Hey, I wonder if my Venezuelan Bolivars have gone up in value? If I wanted to sell them it would take me some time to find them all, because I use them as bookmarks. I have a good amount of books.
You can probably find someone who'd buy them
Pretty much any time you hear the word “Zimbabwe” when someone is talking about money, RUN.
No kidding
Current there is gold backed. US currency is not.
Dan, if I’m ever in Texas, in your neck of the woods, I’m buying you a beer and a steak dinner. You’re a good man 👊🏼
Thank you

Old adage I know, but if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. People act to either avoid a penalty or gain a reward. Education such as this important. Great to socialise Dan👍
For sure
I thought the 100T notes were going up because they are a cool collectable item, maybe when they start liquidating they will get cheap again then?
Who knows. It's a curiosity item.
It is interesting the difference between the Iraq dinar and Kuwait dinar value. Why is it so different. Another interesting note Iraq dinar used to be the most valuable currency in the world. All I know is fiat fed is the biggest scam is the history of the world! Michael Mahoney vids are great!
Well, they aren't the same country
@@normalguysupercar correct. Kuwait revalued in 1992. China has revalue a number of times same with Germany and Zimbabwe as you mention in your video. Currency revalue has more precedent than bitcoin ever did. Not saying it’s going to happen in our lifetime. Just saying fiat currency has zero value.
But shouldn’t you at least by SOME trillion dollar bills? Maybe it is not true what they say, but for 60-70 dollar ( lets say you buy 10 =600 usd) you at least have A CHANCE of cashing in?! 😂
As mentioned in the video, I have some 100 trillion bills. 😂
It is a shame. Not like the rock solid deal I made with a Nigerian prince. As soon as the check clears find me an F12, Dan! Joking aside it is great what you did. My father started falling for these scams as he was getting older. There is no way to ever earn it back.
Yeah it's money that's just gone
Let’s do the math, Dan. Templeton currency dealer (registered with the US Treasury) is selling the 100T Zim note for $189.95. You paid $5 per note. That’s an ROI of 3800%. 😮
That's fine but the value is not because it's backed by any government. The value is because people have been conned into thinking it's going to be worth something big.
@@normalguysupercar “Time will tell!” As soon as the Dinar revalues, we’ll have a confirmed, solid rate for the Zim.
Scammy McScammington. haha
Right?
The amazement of people being irrationally triggered by the name Ferrari is the real story here. The people this specific market attracts only makes me think of any name dropper market, but on steroids.
I suppose so
I believe you shared this story 2 months ago....
I may have mentioned it on a live
Dan, if you keep doing things like this, you're going to give used car dealers a good name... Naw, you're special and the rest aren't! Keep doing the right thing!
Haha thanks
Poor guy drank the koolaid
Yup
Maybe if he hung onto the cancelled currency long enough it might be actually worth something, kind of like Confederate State currency, lol
It's arguably with a little right now but not the trillions he thinks
I worked for Mercedes for years. Occasionally we'd have these guys come in older dudes with young girls promising to buy them a car. Obviously we knew what was going on. Most of the time they didn't get the car and they would call me back and say who is this guy. Oh my God I don't know, you came in with him. Shame on you gold digger.
No kidding. Ugh
I gave up selling my rolexes....I will give you 5k and a 1999 toyota Tacoma.....for TT blue gold stainless sub ...yeah sure right all scams....for a 20k sub .....or the women that some scammer in Lagos that took her for 300k....happens everyday in some online dating.
Yeah it's crazy how much scamming goes on out there
I have a couple hundred thousand $'s in Confederate bonds. Would you take them as a down payment on the Roma?🤪
Haha right?
So my long lost uncle from Tanzania isn't going to send me 30 million if I send him 10 grand to get back his safe deposit box? Damn...
I know. I was disappointed too
You research everyone? Im telling you My name is Sir Richard Branston - close enough but not exactly if im a scammer.
Ok
What about the poor people scammed into paying a billionaire legal bills?
NESERA Nigerian Princes,Currency dude, if you have it you have it. Waiting for money is bull spit
Right?
only thing worse are crypto scams
Those are rampant
It is obviously none of my business. But can't help ask, how old do you think the guy was?
He's in his 70s.
He is in the later half of life

Such a shame, and such an extremely disgusting way to take advantage of someone!
One can't help but wonder what's next for him, and sadly I don't think it's good. Can only hope that someone will step up to help that gentleman. Judging by what Dan is saying, the poor guy is not doing well.
Was nice to hear that you told Dan to report it. You two are good people.
Or is it possible the buyer was a scammer and trying to lure you in?
Doubtful.
Wow
Yup
$2000 more for the zimbobway fund
I know but what else can you do? It's not like I can set up a trust with it
I think if I actually had $300 million dollars, I’d buy NEW Ferraris…not used ones…😬🏎💨💨💨💨
Eh why not both?
Do you accept German marks i have a few million of them.
Are they getting revalued?
I don’t even know why you spend any energy on suspected scammers or people being scammed. I’d just say the car is $100K give me $100k and I’ll give you the car. No cash no car
Well, I wasn't but they injected themselves into my life so I decided to try and help at least in a little way.
@@normalguysupercar I get the feeling he was a scammer that was scamming you and you felt sorry for him. Anyway maybe I’m wrong but sounds very messy that’s why I’d stay away imho
@@fredsalfa he's most certainly not a scammer. If he was then he'd be a really bad one lol
These scams are far too common, and are only getting worse with crypto.
I say this from personal experience as I am an Open Source Intelligence researcher who has worked with law enforcement personnel and insurance agencies. I can say with a high level of confidence that these scams are rampant.
Yes they are everywhere now
@@normalguysupercar Sadly it keeps people like me gainfully employed.
