  • We get a lot of scammers trying to pull stuff off on us. But this was a new one for us. A client of our was being scammed and we became aware of it because they wanted to buy 2 of our Ferraris. I tried my best to convince the client that they were being scammed, but they wouldn't listen so eventually I called adult protective services.

I’m definitely joining “Only Dan”. Good job trying to help out. Bought a car and went to the bank to wire the funds. Had a long disclaimer read to me. Was asked by 3 separate employees if I was being scammed. Last one said if you are in distress or being forced to “tap the desk”. All banks have the disclaimer. This particular bank was crazy with it. At the same time scammers are stealing billions.

Had an 09 Box S for sale a few yrs ago. A "lady" texted me wanting to buy it. Got more suspicious as we went along. Finally decided to call her bluff by calling her #. A guy answers and "she" wasn't there (even tho we'd just sent a txt). By now it's about 5 red flags. She finally called back. Had her send a photo of her driver's license. She did and "she" did exist. She and her husband were going to come to look at my car (they were from an adjoining state). Had them meet me at the sheriff's office. They arrived, husband drove the car, he liked it, she bought it. I said she was setting off all kinds of red flags. She said she'd done a lot of homework and looking and knew my car was exactly what she wanted. So you can never assume something's a scam because once in a 100 times it isn't.
