Your first clip about the metropolis sold one to me. Your second one now comes after I "autobought" the metropolix. And now right after watching this video, I`ll rediscover it ... for hours ... and hours ... this was INSPIRING ....."!!!!!!!!
That Dueling Sequences 3 part is so juicy. Im really appreciating the amount of work that must go into these demos man. If I hadn't already bought a Metropolix 2 days ago i would've been sold now.
This sequencer is an absolute beast , the new firmware does pattern chaining , quick styles , it is so easy and fun still allowing all the mods etc....transpose in octave in etc... i've also been enjoying the tempo change mod as Wes at intellijel prompted me to check it out and it is producing such crazy unique results as well , this thing is a riff machine on steroids hopped up on booze and jazz , such an incredible machine IMO thanks Intellijel
@@EY-zz7xj haha damn that Mylar- Maybe HE'S the gateway drug into Eurocrack! I haven't gotten into the X as much yet... maybe I've been waiting for a more instructional vid like this one...
Coming back once again to this beautiful demo. Nobody on youtube comes close to your gear demos. I come for the gear, but leave blown away by your musical examples. Thanks for this wonderful channel
Dude this is so next level. Using the pitch pre quantise to scale the melody up and down is such a good idea. I was trying to take the metropolix output to a VCA to scale the range of the melody, but it was losing all the slides and other details. This was a ridiculously good demo!.
What does this actually mean? Is he basically transposing the melody here? I assumed it was like raising an oscillator's by one octave but it seems like there's something else going on
This video is so rewatch-able. Every now and then I'll stick it on again to remind myself of what Metropolix can do, and just to bob my head to the beat.
The opening patch is already enough to get one. I bet your live case is going to change again! I thought I made a cool demo about Metropolix, but you clearly show how it was intended to be used :). F8kcing amazing.
I’m new in modular 🤓 was working before so much with the ml-185 sequencer from max for live. Friday I went to Schneiders and bought this sequencer along other awesome modules! It is such a great module and this sequencer is exactly what I was looking for but didn’t know that it exists 😃 Thank you so much for all the great insights on programming it ❤️
I've been coming back to this video over and over the past few days just for the jam between 8:26 and 9:20. Would love to have just a 10+ minute jam of that idea. Same for the pattern between 3:11 and 4:26. But really all the patterns in this video are great, same for your Atlantis video that I've been listening to as well for the great jams. Safe to say you've sold me on these Intellijel modules for when I get a modular case.
I always go back and forth between getting the Metropolix or the René… but then I watch this video again and just want this thing! Such a fantastic demo.
Was just thinking the same thing. Bought mine 2 days ago and it turns out it was just in time. I was curious if he was gonna do a video. Very pumped for this.
tasty tunes and a compelling presentation of what could have been a dull instruction manual. shit man, you should get paid to do this! oh wait... congrats on this, was just as much fun to watch as v1.
Could not stand to listen to the loopop vid on this module, despite all the valuable info it contains. You just can't help but make a bopping (and still informative) demo for this incredible module. 'Face-melting' is a good way to describe it, too. The original Metropolis was amazing, this one looks to be absolutely transformational and unique in the world of music gear. It took me a little time to process the farewell of my old Metropolis--it's just so damn 'immediate' to make a jam--but once you get your head around the X, it's all of the original and so much more; Intellijel did a brilliant job with the succession (and so did you!). Cheers, Alex
Thanks so much for this. This is the only demo I've yet found (including Intellijel's own) which properly illustrates the use of the GX expander. I just wish the supplied I2C cable was long enough to have the expander on the right hand side of the sequencer!
@@mylarmelodies YT seems to have removed my previous reply, presumably because I put an external link in it. Anyway have bought a 300mm long 6 way cable from Farnell in UK. My Metropolix is on the LHS of my case so I want the expander more central for shorter patching to other things.
Performing loopy mode is what I love about Steppy so looking forward to finally getting my hands on Metropolix next week as they are like gold dust right now.
Jams are next level on this one. Nice beats throughout! Looks like suuuuch a fun sequencer but also to call it that almost doesn’t do it justice eh. Just thinking if this will make me part with my 0-Coast to raise some funds. Great info and scope of function as always.
Intense! Curious to see breakdown of how this changes your live rig assuming you are using it there. Had no idea about the GX! I’ve been doing a similar thing using Joranalogue Compare 2 to get pitch related gates. Have been using one for a couple months now, it’s incredibly complex while remaining so hands-on which is quite an achievement, more hands-on than the wonderful Vector even but with similar levels of automation madness. The accumulator and sequenceable custom scales absolutely rock.
So many" wow's" in this one mylar. Even my toaster start breakdancing😅 paired with akamis Castle and one good delay unit must be galactic as ffffffffffffffff
can the Metropolix save sequences/patches for recall during a live set for example? and can it do microtonal/analog voltage tunings? can microtonal tunings be saved and recalled? or is there any sequencer that can do this?
great demo, lots of fun tips and tricks! i gotta explore Loopy mode more, didn't know you could press the button to hold, off to RTFM! :D however, is it just me or are there a lot of weird cuts in the video? seems like some are on purpose to trim fat and focus on the juiciest bits, but like at 9:21 or 15:41 i feel like i missed some info...
Thanks!!! Always try to make the cuts as smooth as possible but when you're trying to keep things within a semi reasonable running time (I definitely shot in excess of three hours of footage for this) but due to the performance aspect of how these are made (like I don't overdub the speech it's all said in the moment and emphasises musical results over tutorial) you don't always have the perfect material to make the perfect cut! And to be fair there are sneaky cuts you will not have spotted ;)
Great demo now I own the thing! May I ask what voices were you using in this demo and also what were you using to sequence base and hats? Thank you so much for what you do.
Huh. Imagine if korg started coming out with weird volca standalone sequencers like this, or maybe one thats a tracker lsdj style, or an er-101 et cetera.
