Such an amazing sequencer, I don't think most reviewers have grasped the full scope of the Metropolix yet. There are so many ways to generate ideas, add variation and complexity without losing the fun/jam factor - it's a joy to use. I've uploaded an annotated demo video featuring a few of the features mentioned in this vid and will be uploading more in future - there''s so many features/possibilities to cover.
10:17 Skip Invert just blew my mind! Along with the length settings that can be either to the track or global makes this an incredibly flexible sequencer. This will likely replace the jamming I do on my beatstep pro, it's just a matter of time and space in the case. Awesome, awesome sequencer! Excited to keep watching and see what other goodies are in that module and if you cover the expander. Keep making sweet stuff!
My goodness! The rachetting along with the pulse count larger than the number of ratchets is sooooo good! I often hear melodies in that push and pull kinda tension of going faster and slower than the average timing and having the flexibility of breaking the time down into more interesting timings like that is so cool.
This things amazing. The balance between musical playability and complexity is one few modules get right but Metropolix IMO is pretty much the poster child for it. It's so immediate and inspiring but still allows you to go crazy deep without being too much of a slog. Definitely a "never get rid of" module for me alongside Pam
Watching this again. Metropolix is relentlessly mind blowing. Sold all my modular gear but kept this because it’s coming to the incinerator ( well, maybe I’ll leave it for someone special unless I find a way to bring it to the next life, if there is one) and it’s easy to midi sequence… Typhon and various iOS apps. Now I’m adding a new round of modules exclusively for this beast. I get a ton without half these tricks, It’s time to add the rest and get on the road to mastery. Thank you for continuing to develop this monster.
Last time I watched this video, I had no Intellijel modules. Now I have Scales, Tetrapad/Tete, Shifty, Plog, Dixie2+, and finally ordered Metropolix just 2 days ago. Really loving your gear. Time for a refresher on everything that I saw here while it's in shipping.
Thanks, this was really interesting, and the meandering format was kinda nice to chill to while I organized my sample folders. I've been using the Metropolix for a few months now and some of this was absurdly new to me.
Just got the module, thank you guys for this video, hopefully we'll get an updated video. That ratchet was killing me before coming across this video, haha, I thought it was a malfunction as to why it keeps pulsing like crazy.
Thanks for going in depth with the loopy. It is much nicer than some other demo videos show it. Loopy+skips+accumulator and switching current track - cant wait to try that.
Yo, i have the Metropolix and the Atlantix in my NiftyKeyz now. I hope you know how i appreciate your hardware and passion. I could buy a orig. SH-101 now about the same price of those 2 modules together, but as great and raw the Roland sounds i prefer the stability and possibilities of these modern units. Keep at it.
Thanx for tutorial! A lot of good information in here! But it's really hard to follow because the melody has the more or less the same volume like the voice...
I love mine. Would be awesome for it to be able to take an external voltage in X Y or Z, send it to Pitch Pre, and output it via the A or B output, effectively making it work as a quantizer for external sources WITHOUT sacrificing a track. It's a lot of fun to do this with for example a Clep Diaz, but I lsoe a track :-(
I feel like a compact expander with 4 or 8 sliders or knobs to for complete control over the second track would be kind of amazing. As sweet as it is having the two related sequences, I feel like it would offer just as much jamability for that second track for something like a bassline and maybe you could have the ability to have that effect the root of track 1. I don’t like the idea of breaking the relevance of the sliders like something like varigate does so it’s kinda nice bot to see that but yeah, an expander for the second track would be a no brainer for someone who falls in love with this sequencer.
Very nice video to watch while waiting for the Metropolix to arrive in the mail! :D I have one question that I could not find an answer to in the manual: With the gate expander connected, is there a way to assign a mod lane to chage a specific gate output clock division?
I love the Metropolix! Aside from that - the guy went way too fast without really explaining anything. It would be nice for a redo with someone with clearer direction.
Completely agree. This illustrates how much the Metropolix can do, but doesn’t do much to help me actually be able to apply it because I couldn’t follow how fast it all went.
Really cool stuff. Hands were a bit twitchy so it's really hard to understand what's going on at any given point, especially when the hands cover the camera view.
It sounds like the designer is doing the demo. Cardinal sin. They presume WAAY too much information. Plus his hands at key points were obscuring display and controls, many of which he never addressed. 😩 New purchase. Looking forward to using it. At least it appears you can learn learn by doing, but will look at the manual. Will never have room in my head for all those loop features.
@@intellijel Yeah, the Atlantis was on my radar for some time already. Just that the MC-101 I think sounds better (more vintage &alive, from a comparison video) prevented me from getting it.
Great module, but maybe you could have chosen a less annoying sound for the demo. Just a little filtering would have been helpful to follow your explanations :)
Metropolix is an outstanding sequencer! I love it much! Thanks for all the tips and tricks guys! More Techno Breaks with it to come 😜
Another tuto man ? :)
Ihor you're a proper dude, love your videos mate
I’m thrilled you’re the designers and not the company spokespeople
Metropolix = instant love :D Had no modular, now 200hp+ ordered -_+ almost all Intellijel.. you guys make so inspiring modules
Honestly if I had to have a case of modules all from one manufacturer, it would be Intellijel!
I'm super curious about your experience. The "received wisdom" is that it's best to start small, so I wonder what it's like to start with 200hp+ !!
@@GeorgeLocke hey! Maybe if you are new to synths it’s not good idea. My experience was super nice. 300hp now 😅
Added Timestamps!

Best sequencer ever made IMO well done Intellijel
This thing is musical as hell. Love you guys

Oh man just ordered one, can't wait!!! You guys seem super fun to chill with!

Lots of excellent information here. Thank you!
Awesome video ,The beast of sequencers
Thanks for going over these concepts. 😄

Got mine a couple of weeks ago. It's a gamechanger for me.
Cheers from Seattle!
two days on my metro wait Gx awesome seq perfect choice :)
Great to see this video guide, thanks
so bad i didin't participate to the live session, metropolix is aswome gret job !!

Patched this module up at Patchwerks this week, want!!!

Yeah -NO SHIT!🤬

Ok what was going on in the first two minutes? Suddenly there’s almost two sequences happening?
Did I understand correctly that the 8 mod lanes can basically be used as 8 LFO's to modulate external modules?
58:00 reminds me of ''The Gasman - Hiding Place''
50:37 yes

The synth voice was WAY TOO FUCKING LOUD -& their narrative way too quiet & way too fast! I left after 15min in!🤬
Sound is coming from...?
Paraphonic patch with just the Atlantis, a bit of Reverb from the Multi-FX 1U, and the on-again-off-again kick is from Plonk)

I would like to buy this but all the European dealers are out of stock.
Would have been nice to have some tastful stuff.
Huh? What just happened?
None of this matters if I cannot even know what is going in and out of the metropolix.
Nothing is going in. Pitch, gate, clock and assignable cv (A+B) is going out. Just look at the jacks
Intojelly
What are these little dudes in the background?
Kill the reverb!!!!!!
You go too fast to follow so I gave up.
