Oh I am going to swoon over Russell Mael, 40 years on!! I still love this guy, and the band. Off to see them with Franz Ferdinand as FFS in a few weeks, can't wait.
Linda Sharp That's great, Linda! I've been a Sparks fan for a long time but never saw them live. Looking forward to the FFS album which will be released in June.
What I love about this album. You can hear the Bass...and the double meanings for most songs...
And not only can you hear it the tone and playing is superb!
Yay!! Sparks.😊
Great album. Great bass sound/playing and really tasty guitar playing/drumming throughout. The best line-up (of many) in my opinion.
I just love them❤
Second only to the Beach Boys as the greatest act ever to come out of Los Angeles. I remember my mgmt. years at Tower in Weho, 79-85: Ron showing up in his Volkswagen Thing & Russell's many visits. Both great guys. Too bad the industry in the USA didn't get it! Still fantastic to this day....
One of the more interesting groups both musically and in performance. I first heard of them from Kimono My House in my last year of High School. I still own the album and am a fan of Sparks even moreso.
Such underrated musicians! Intelligent, humorous and they can really rock! Something that most Americans just didn’t get... I’m so glad they’re still rocking all these years later!
Sparks, The Beach Boys, and the original Mothers Of Invention are the LA trifecta.
Erm, Fishbone anyone?
Sparks are amazing but I’m sensing someone missed out on New Wave Theatre and early 80s KROQ.
Thought I'd take a dive into "Sparks" world...so this is the first album I decided to try...just love the title of the album...
Had to get there albums simply because of the covers. Surprise was, they were full of incredibly fine music.
I'd love to see Keith Emerson and Ron Mael doing La Traviata backwards at high speed.
Could be interesting.
still love sparks
The song itself sounds like a Macy's commercial in a good way
anyone else get turned on to these guys from Don Kirshner?
