The (four) best things about this amazing tape: 1. Seeing Sparks in the midst of their early Glam Rock period. 2. The apt lunacy of the band being introduced by Keith Moon and Ringo Starr who are both clearly in the middle of one of their notorious benders. 3. The hilarious way the editors of the show try to make it look like the crowd's head over heels for the band by using an applause track and cutting to unrelated b-roll crowd footage except whenever the camera goes to a wide shot with the whole band in frame and you can see the audience is just sat there in complete confusion about what the hell they're looking at. 4. The idea that the Spinners, Rod Stewart and the Eagles had to follow this.
I was a huge fan of Sparks since 2020. When I was around 9 or 10 years old, the first Sparks song is "Beat the Clock". At age of 13 since the late 2019 or early 2020, I heard "This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us", since I first listen to that song, I was really enjoying that type of music like it was a real professional rock! I already knew Ron & Russell Mael are American since they live in Los Angeles. Mid of 2020, I was a fan of them. I listen to "Something for the Girl with Everything", "Hospitality on Parade", "Cool Places (with Jane Wiedlin from The Go-Go's)", "Here In Heaven", "Tips for Teens", "Forever Young", "Tryouts for the Human Race", "With All My Might", etc. Sparks is my favorite band along with The Doors, Devo and Blondie.
The dumbfounded look on the woman at the about the minute mark testifies to the power of Sparks. Imagine knowing nothing about Sparks in 1974 and watching this opening. You would know quickly how you felt. Me: I would have bought the album and t-shirt immediately. Thanks for posting this.
I know some of this video is probably staged, but it's completely nuts. A complete "what the f-" moment in pop music - clearly you can see why they caught on in Great Britain, they're loonies

Lol imagine sticking around to see a lame band like the Eagles after this performance.
@@vanhouten64I think both sparks and eagles have some great music output but what a time the 70s really was for music.
I got 'Kimono my house' when I was 16 and that was 45 years ago. Still listening to Sparks today. That's got to say something about the band.
Just incredible. Such great and catchy songs. Nothing like it today, plus how cool to be introduced by Keith Moon and Ringo Starr!

Wonderful set from a very tight (but short-lived) lineup. Amazing to think the Mael brothers are touring Australia and New Zealand as I type this.

#1 band all time for: album art and lyrics. Their songs are also #1 all time for many individuals.
I love the bewildered reaction of the audience
One of the top bands of the 70s🏐🍀👍🏻🇮🇪C. F. C.

Thanks!😍 Tinja&Markku :D
Ringo ! ❤
That pissed off looking surfer dude and his hippy chick at 13:37. 😂 He so doesn't get Sparks.
Sheer jealousy I reckon.
Pouty perfection.
I just don't know how Ron Mael can be so much of a ShauFensterPuppen behind his keyboard..
0:02 😂Keith looks a bit like Colin Farrell....and lol @ Ringo🤣
Прикольно на Муна посмотреть. Привет из Сибири!
Russell sure has a cute little ass-et 🤭
Maybe it’s something for the girl with everything? 😂
