It is a criminal shame that Jane Wiedlin didn't have at least the same solo career success that Belinda Carlisle did. If she wanted it, that is. I do love me some Go-Gos but Jane just always stood out to me with greatest talent and sweetest charm. Loved her then and even more now 🙂 Thanks for posting this
Belinda has a very glamorous look, I'll grant that, and she is probably a better vocalist than Jane--but not worlds better. I've heard Jane sing live many times, and she's underrated.
I agree with @TrackerNeil, but it's also worth mentioning that Jane Weidlin is one complicated woman. She was ordained so she could celebrate same-sex marriages when they became legal in California, for instance. I remember seeing a Rolling Stones concert movie and "Totally GoGos" back to back, and saying "gee, the GoGos move more in most songs than the Stones did on stage in some tours". I still stand by that statement, decades later, and Jane was the one that jumped around the most.
I love watching this. 80s dancing was a little bit goofy, but a lot of fun. I also enjoy seeing Russell smiling so much. I think he was really smitten with Jane at the time. Who wouldn't be?
Normally I would cry NOT LIVE but they are in fact live! The subtle differences from the record to this performance are there, which speaks volumes of what a great job by everyone up there on stage. Bravo!
Something interesting I noticed. At 2:25, Jane mixes the lyrics and sings "I wanna go to cool places with you" when she should have said "I wanna go to cool places tonight", this causes the whole structure of that verse to collapse because the rhymes are lost with the next lines. Out of muscle memory (I suppose), Russell follows with "I wanna take you cool places tonight", and then Jane apparently realizes she can't sing the next line and suddenly stops, then both Ron on the keyboard and the drummer lose the beat for a moment and the whole band almost stop playing, but fortunately, they quickly regain the beat and save the moment, and Russell just continues with the final line of that verse "A coffee shop and toast, coffee and juice". However, after this, Jane turns a bit serious for a while. 😁
Oh yes. Me in 1983 just graduated from college. The Go Gos were tops and this came out. Did I really dance like that? 🙆 but what I wouldn't give to go back 43 years when my body doesn't hurt just rolling out of bed, when everytbing works, and I don't think an all nighter was sleeping through without having to wake up to use the bathroom 3x a night.
Just discovered this song! This should have been a hit but was ignored by Radio apparently. Too bad because it’s such an upbeat number and Jane has such infectious energy here but to no avail. I like this song a lot!
Dang Jane! You have an absolutely beautiful derrière in my book. Even J Lo would be jealous 😉 This song keeps me young since it aired in 1983 while in high school....Glad music doesn't have an expiration date like we do....
Outstanding! Takes me immediately back to ‘83 Jr. High dances. Forgot about how cool the song is 😂. Yes, love Ron, Russell, and Jane. Is it just me or *holy toledo* is the drummer David Kendrick? If so, he seems to be really knocking it out of the park. With that display energy and locking-in to the pulse like that, everybody can run the bases looking good in their own way and score as a team. *WHOA* 3:07 drumstick gets away from drummer, yet he picks up another without missing a beat!! What a pro!!!
This video reminds that my memories of having a crush on Jane were not a illusion. She really was hot and that shapely dress is legit. Wish I can have seen a concert in the 80’s
I can see why Terry Hall gave Jane the song "Our lips are sealed" as a gift,he was in love with the American bird!!!! She was so dang cute we all were in love with her.....I love Terry Halls version of the song as well.
Well, we're all entitled to feel who's the hottest, but for me it's KV with Jane a very close second. I'm gurssing Jane might be freakier which i find quite appealing. She definitely has style and class.
Previously mentioned- So many people do not realize what a legend Jane Wiedlin was for music. Her work with Terry Hall (Fun Boy Three) is some of her best writing yet The GoGos get credit for Our Lips Are Sealed. It is a shame.

I totally agree! Not to dis Belinda but Jane is my favorite. Her complexity is a huge part of her charm. Bet she's a gas to hang out with 🙂
This song should have been big. I wonder what happened here
Rush hour?
I'm glad they were able to drag Ron out of bed for this performance. Would not have been as good without him.
I would rather have to drag her out of bed...back in the day. Now I don't think I could get inside the walker.
Does he not get out of bed?
Lambada
@@TUXXREVIEWSHe’s wearing a bathrobe and pajamas. Looks like he just got out of bed.
Jane really is an energetic ray of sunshine, every video of hers I see. She's nothing short of delightful and criminally underappreciated.
Jane Wiedlin & Suzanna Hoffs were my 80’s crushes! Still timeless!
Mine too.
I admire your taste in women... Best part: they both still look amazing today!
Absolutely. Two most adorable rock girls ever.
Can't forget Kate Bush!
100% agree!

Eddie Murphy makes fun of that dance in Delirious. It’s the 80’s white person dance 😂
@@ronscott7 yea, isn't it better than trying to simulate sex or just shaking giant butts? So much less desperate
Jane so hot
Props to Jane for doing this performance in a cheongsam. 👏🏼
Janie. Good lord. What a beauty.
I had such a crush on Jane!
had???
we all did......
Yo también!!!! De adolescente alucinaba con ella. :)
YOU did?
All boys and girls did
What a lovely mover Jane is,could watch and listen to her all day, magical.
Jane looks great with longer hair. That dress shows off her nice shape too.
Normally I would cry NOT LIVE but they are in fact live! The subtle differences from the record to this performance are there, which speaks volumes of what a great job by everyone up there on stage. Bravo!
SPARKS is about as authentic as you get for musicians and could never imagine them lip syncing. They perform at our cultural center every year.

The Masses can have Belinda Carlisle I Love Jane Wiedlin she has always been My Favorite Go Go.
Every Sparks video is a must watch just for the Keyboardist
The drummer is absolutely phenomenal...
Is David Kendrick the drummer?
David Kendrick drums;Jim Goodwin is also keyboard wizard(ex John Cale band)...fantastic performance

Don't even have to start the video. It gets a thumbs up right off the bat.
You can keep Belinda, gimme some Jane.
+BerlinFan82 She was hotter than bacon grease!
In my leaky '72 Chevy Vega 4-banger we cruised the loop in Puyallup, Wa. This was my jam.
Vegas weren't cool then but are now.
I listened in Renton, WA...lol
Lol wow I was in high school when this song came out KROQ..lol. wow I'm 51 and now these are the oldies...

ROCK OF THE 80’s ...K-ROQ!!
No they're classics
When I was in grade school I thought its great but until now is still great and awesome

lol
Assuming this is entirely a live performance, the musicianship and vocals are tight as a drum.
assuming?

Jane was sooo cool
Oh my god! I feel 20 degrees cooler just for listening to this song! B-)
saw them do this in anaheim circa 1983 or so.
I was so in love with her back then

Wow, you're right. Amazing!
Yep, that's David Kendrick on drums!
Whole band is great, but dayummm!! Jane is a doll.
Lotta talent on display here.
Really cool, great duet and fantastic Synth playing.
Sparks played at the gym at my school (UCSD) around 1983

Facts! Great version of the song.
How do you know she didn't do most of the writing and gave it to him?
@@rudolphguarnacci197 it's been well documented he wrote the lyrics and mailed them to her.
Crazy how Jane was the president of the Sparks Fan Club
Jane Weidlin is America’s Kate Bush! Tons of guys have obsessed over them both. Including me!
