This game was my childhood. I adore the depth of storytelling in this remake.
Wow they did a great job with this game, the story is more complex and interesting than in many official King's Quest games! I should say... this might be my favorite - after KQ6 of course.
6 is easily the best ♡

What is so good about 6, i hated it as a child, liked 5 way more... as in general I liked the first Sierra 256 color titles the best, after that they became sloppy in terms of graphics consistency.

I love the ingenuity and creativity that goes into point and click games, and the music, dialog and coice acting are top-notch. But NO WAY i would figure out all this, this is why i love these longplays
Same thing. Back that times I've hardly could pass several starting screens. The logic how game designers made this puzzles is still unable for me to understand.

Yep. The only kind of playthrough that is better than a no-commentary-detail-exploring one is one that talks about behind-the-scenes dev info and/or speedrunning tips (something like Volvagia's Ocarina of Time playthrough or Research Indicate's Jurassic Park Trespasser)
I like this version much better than the original version of KQ 2. The original’s storyline was a little too lackluster for me. This one was awesome.
I feel so bad for Possum! Couldn’t they have made Graham her legal guardian and let her stay with them just until he completes his mission? He’s literally a king! He could definitely afford to take care of her and let her have a full life!
he was still questing...she probably would have died by the wolves. But she would have joined her parents, as it was sad they were still waiting for her.
At approximately 2:54:34, if you look closely at the fireplace, it looks like a smiling face with the grandma's pot of soup being the nose. 😊

The voices are good, but Possum sounds like Elmo.
The interpretor of Gervain especially was lifelike. So natural. They managed to attract some great talent.
I can see that. Another voice that comes to mind is whatever is hiding in the haystack outside of the village sounds like Jimmy from South Park.
If the merchant were to have a name, I would call him: Mr. S. Terry O'type.

I never completed this game by myself, so this is the first time I see the post-King's Quest VIII scene. Very well done! Inspite I hated that game, they combined it very well with the rest of KQ lore

What do you think why they changed the title to romancing the throne to romancing the stones? Since it means "prepare the jewel before making a jewerly" so for me it seems makes less sense.

These voices are pretty good.
They did manage to get Josh Mandel to voice Graham, who was the original voice actor for him in KQ5/6, which I always thought was pretty cool.
I just wish he would have used better mic. His voice seem lower quality compared to others.
DoodleKaboodle stiff, cheap and unnatural. Well like most game VO in the early / mid 90’s so they emulated that feeling pretty good ;)
Honestly, I thought King Graham's voice was atrocious on an audio recording level, and the voice actor was terrible and sounded to versed rather than genuine.

Is the evil enchanter Manannan from KQ3? It would make fit together...stealing Alexander as revenge on graham. That and where do you think his cat came from eh?
He isn't, but there's a letter from Mannanan to Hagatha in this game which is only signed "M".
I could've swore that King Graham's fan voice sounded familiar, just like The Snarky Avenger from the Zombie Astronaut's Frequency of Fear episode, "The Slumgullian Candidate".

5 hours! That's a VERY long Adventure game.

Only long if you already know what you're doing. It's not so short for a blind playthrough.
Lots of plot twists and such.

I had kings quest 6. This one looks nice too.
The villan in this remake is obviously a reference to one of several sorcerers who plague Gram's family across the games. I'm trying to figure out who. Mannanan would make the most sense. He would be younger in this game too, explaining the fresh appearance. Anyone have any concrete info?

this is the only Kings Quest game through 6 where the characters solitary, no initial inventory beginning makes no sense. He's a king, he should be able to bring a whole team with him. The other games sort of make sense in this way.

I played these back in the day, not in VGA (Well not all of them), but it was a learning curve, also it was typing not the mouse click entirely, Kings quest 3 was my favourite, but since Windows was not how I loaded the games, typing was generally just normal =) The Kings Quest/Space Quest and Police Quest series are most likely the best from the old days. Should also check out Loom, that was amazing by Lucas art

Why is this called a "Homebrew?" It's a remake, certainly, but I wouldn't called it a Homebrew... it was made by a real, professional company: AGD Interactive.
Maybe because many of us see them as Tierra, their original roots... but you're right given that this game is at least as well done as any other Sierra game

Graham is not a very good business man. He gets severely scammed in every transaction.
It's like his predecessor, who lost the Magic Chest, Magic Mirror, and Magic Shield through super stupid decisions and then sent Graham out to fix his mistakes :B
Maybe having a chest with an endless supply of gold has messed up his ability to calculate relative values.

its amazing when Serra launched the latest Kings Quest game how it changed the story's of King Graham, his becoming a knight then king of Davintry, his meeing & courting of princess Valiness, what happned when he saw his son Alaxander who had just escaped from Many aka Mananin & so on

Okay, whoever made this homebrew got the subtitle all wrong. It's supposed to be Romancing The Throne, not Romancing The Stones.
No, the AGD title is Romancing the Stones, because their version of the story involves Graham collecting three gemstones to reach the island where Valanice is held captive.

*This game* is about a king stealing stolen things and exclaiming "You can talk?!" to everybody, including people. BTW, it is absurd that the king would go alone to anywhere, let alone on a dangerous adventure.
Even the first game has made no sense on this since before becoming the king Graham already has been a knight, a nobility, and would also not travel alone to anywhere. It is also funny how characters in the game want to return stolen/lost things and when Graham returns them they give away at least no less expensive things in return, in effect losing them. Finally, too many scary/bad characters have an accent so the game could be considered xenophobic nowadays.
I wish they make another game where King Graham is tasked with finding your braincells.

This game spends too much time in bashing Christianity. Note that Roberta Williams did not had anything to do with this. If you see the original version the plot was totally different. The plot was significantly changed in the remake by another company that is not Sierra, I think it is called or was called Tierra. In the remake you see in this RUclips video there is a recurrent theme on the church trying to hold back people and the Count wanting to move forward and enlighten (minute 4:09) on the side of change. Christianity is not anti-change, anti-enlightment, and anti-moving forward, although it depends on the semantics assigned to these words. All the contrary, Christianity always seeks change for the good and Christians know that this is a never-ending goal. Everybody knows that not all changes are good. Notice that the game does not specify what change, enlightment and moving forward exactly is.

@@mustachesamurai I don't agree with the sexual abuse. But don't get filled up by the negative highlights of the media. They show the worst events but never show statistics, which most of the times are not their friend. Less than 1% of Catholic priests were accused of sexual abuse and a large amount of those cases have been proven to be false accusations. I agree that all priests with true accusations should be ousted and brought to justice. The rate of teachers in public schools is way higher than the Catholic church.. But it does not makes sense to close public schools because of some pedophiles that got in. Just take out the pedophiles and those who cover them up and keep the public schools. The same goes for the Catholic church.

The good things, like statistics, are rarely shown in the media. The Catholic church is the number one charity organization in the world right now (If you sum all Catholic charities, which are many, I contribute to about 20 different of them and that is just a subset); contributing to education, health, food, and other ways. The church is composed of humans that commit mistakes like any other institution. Also the Catholic church played a mayor role in rescuing and development of civilization after the fall of the Roman empire.

It's dramatization. It's fantasy, none of it is real. It's a just a game, not that critical.
I loved these games-I played them all the time when my parents weren’t screaming at each other or beating me. My mother frequently reminded me that she hated having me and took out on my father, who smacked me because he didn’t want to hit my mom. I would escape in these games and imagine hunky King Graham would come to my rescue. Too bad his son is gay and wants to be a transgender woman
