From my memory, James Chen always makes the most amount of mistakes as a commentator for whatever reason. There are times where he says things that happen in game, but that didn’t happen.
True. I like the world wide qualifier where everyone, everywhere have a chance but i think, like in football, thet have to open more slots for strong regions. Like 2/3 more for japan, 1/2 for US. Could be a bit more fair in my opinion

Despite the huge whiffs / missed opportunities, Punk played perfect footsies here, and Daigo was extremely patient too with impeccable defence. The winner of this set definitely deserved it 🙂.

I tried to argue this point and people just kept saying "win your region". They don't get this is not the Olympics. So stop trying to use that analogy. Cc should be about the best of the best on the big stage at the end of the season for the biggest payouts. High pressure matches with the best of the best. They 100% need to go back to point/seeding system.

to qualify for capcom cup this season wasn't determined by points, but largely by online regional qualifiers, where only 2 players from a region can make it through the online tournaments. they just unfortunately fell in the face of other top players from their regions
Its because of the regional slots. Points only allow you to enter the regional WW qualifier tournament. Punk was #2 in points in his region, so he got in the tournament but he didn't win (MenaRD, who is now US East, won). So that's one US East slot gone. He also didn't win the CPT event (NuckleDu did), which is the other US East slot. The only way to enter CC outside of the regional slots is to win an offline event like EVO or the LCQ. Punk lost at EVO, so now he is at the LCQ.
I find it interesting how Paladin was able to walk Punk down and beat him 3-0 with mid tier Ryu, but Daigo seems so cautious with Ken (a top 3 character)...oftentimes walking backwards into the corner..just shows how play styles matter. Pressure wins games as laakuma says. Maybe it's the confidence of youth in Paladin's case that allows him to go for an aggressive game plan instead and just be fearless.

Unless you're saying Paladin would have played more cautiously in person, cause it definitely wasn't about lag etc. Punk just said Paladin played very well. He didn't mention connection issues. That being said, NuckleDu then beat Paladin 3-0 so he lost that matchup, but with respect to Punk specifically, I just don't think walking backwards and being cautious helps Daigo too much against Punk. I almost feel like he has so much respect for Punk's abilities that he's trying to be too careful. I think Punk is in his head tbh, but he isn't in Paladin's so Paladin just went for it. Just my opinion.

What a joy to watch! Punk is Cammy god. He's brung so so much to Cammy players , daigo is still looking for a main that really works his style . Unfortunately allll top level ken players play the EXACT same way. He's such a boring character to watch and play against. Where as punk brings a different Cammy to each fight. I genuinely hope he wins this tournament ❤️❤️❤️
It is sad to see players of this caliber fight for one spot in the capcom cup while other can easily qualify cause their region sucks. Sopts should be allocated base on the best leagues by giving more spots for usa and japan this coming from a middle eastern viewer!
