When you pass over it you can see a sorta blotchy look that’s because your adding the pearls into clear you need to get what’s called (base maker) it’s a sorta opaque color that’s meant to have pigments added to it, it allowed the pearls to settle properly and align nicely so there’s no issues. It looks great but you could do base maker 2 coats then 3 coats of clear and it would looks awesome

Later this fall I’d like to paint my old truck. I’d love to see your version of it first. I think it’d be really pretty.

Just a note, you can thin Rustoleum with Xylene also, I've used it with the Rustoleum Top Side Marine Paint.

Unfortunately this is a solid pearl so it would make the white look dirty when not in the sun so you would want to use a similar color pearl in the white particle colorshift to get the best results. Thanks for watching

I’m new to this channel and love it, I’ve been searching your videos for the right color contrast that I’m after. And this seems to be it, but I could not find the actual name of the pearl or Company mentioned in here. If you can tell me at greatly appreciate it. Also, what if you wanted less metal flaking so it won’t look so much like a bass boat. Smaller flakes. Thanks.
Here's the link it's part of a kit it's the one called Golden. Also you could always spray it in a mid coat using less pigment and then clear coat it to make it not pop as much. Thanks for watching the channel!

Hey Rustoleum makes a clear coat. Do you think it could be used for automotive clear? Rust-Oleum 320202 Gallon Clear Acrylic Gloss Coating
Yeah actually the very next episode on Wednesday coming up is going to have a variation of rustoleum clear coat you might want to check that out before you buy any but long story short I would highly suggest getting 2K urethane clear acrylic clear is no good over Rust-Oleum even if it's made up by rustoleum it has a tendency to dry flat and has zero uv protection
How long did you wait between the rustoleum and the clear/pearl?
The weather was nice out about 75 degrees and I waited about 45 minutes then started applying clear thanks for watching
I think you nailed it with the extra coats! What do think would happen if this pearl was sprayed over an orange or a purple?
Over a purple it would do a lot like the black over in Orange you would probably get a lot of blotchiness because it's a solid Pearl but stay tuned maybe we will find out in a future episode thanks for watching

You have solid pearls and then you have Interference pearls which have all the same effects but they are a white particle based so they practically disappear until the light hits them regardless it's a interesting combination. Also you have to be careful with choosing a lighter base with a darker pearl because they look great when the light hits them but under normal light it can make the color appear blotchy or dirty.

Muted, whit bases tend to kill the depth of the color so it’ll probably look like a dingy white
Yes because it's a solid pearl and not white interference pearl you would see the fine specs over white which would give it a dirty appearance when not in direct sun so I would use a white particle colorshift over white to get a similar effect thanks for watching

I’m doing a two tone paint job. White with white mica and blue with blue mica. Will I get a high spot between the two colors? Should I clear it after I paint? Thanks for the answer. Also, should I add Japan gardener in the rust oleum?
It really depends on how you do the two tone if you're blending it you should be fine Rust-Oleum is self-leveling to a certain extent obviously if you wait for it to completely dry and run a tape line to do the other color you will have a high spot and if you want it to hold up I definitely recommend a 2K urethane clear coat for longevity and you can add Japan drier but it's not needed especially if you just use a simple catalyst hardener if you're spraying through a paint gun. I use clear coat in all of these experiments and links to everything I use are in the descriptions of every video let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for watching
So I just painted my truck two tone,, Red on top half and Pure White on the bottom half. It’s wet sanded right now, I was going to Clear it, but you started doing these sample videos of Pearls, and I can’t stop watching the awesome colors you’re coming up with. So I was wondering if you would have any idea if a specific Pearl could possibly work on this color Combination.?
White or silver pearl would look classy over both colors without making it too much or you could match the Pearl to each color red over red and white or white to give it a nice metallic sparkle thanks for watching
