    Little children and being a caregiver to 3 elders… time found for coloring and painting is scarce and precious… often, the only time i get, i spend watching a video like this one and having a tall, Johny Depp style wine glass, on a Saturday night at 11 pm. So I feel your pain and appreciate the work and time you put it in this videos,. If i do not have the time and energy to pull my coloring and painting stuff out, î’ll gladly sit and watch one of your videos. So thank you. And sorry for all the comments.

      Thank you for the comments, feedback makes it worthwhile! At least I know then what people are enjoying and finding useful ❤️ it sounds like you have a lot on your plate and I applaud you. It can be hard when we have to give so much of ourselves for others, but your time will come 😊 Johnny Depp sized wine glasses sound like my sort of thing 🤣

      Thank you so much 😀 Much of it comes down to practise…..I colour a lot, and my days of art classes years ago have helped enormously too. But anyone we can all learn new things with some perseverance 😉 Thanks for watching and commenting, Jackie

    Really happy that your video came up as a youtube suggestion, despite the fact that I nearly had kittens watching those water puddles while you worked on the sky until you blotted them lol !
    I am new to working in colouring books, and to using colour in general, and your comments about being able to let go long enough to try out things, make mistakes, fail and learn from it all really resonated with me. I admit that it is the fear of making mistakes that is holding me back So, thank you and I look forward to watching more of your lovely, inspiring art work.

      🤣😄 yeah I do slop a lot of water on! If you think this one is bad you should see the page I’m working on now…..the video is “Star Catcher” Part 1. Even by my own standards I used a lot, but it’s okay 👍
      Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the channel…I’m very much about encouraging you to relax and have fun with your books (it’s only paper!) 😊 Regards, Jackie

    This is looking absolutely beautiful. I’m loving the watercolour background. I want to try it so much, my need to control everything keeps stopping me. I will do it soon. I’ve promised myself 😜😜. Thankyou again for sharing your time with us❤❤❤

    • @spare_room_studio
      @spare_room_studio  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes! That’s the biggest part of this technique - accepting that you cannot control the outcome. I really recommend you set aside a book just for playing in - you don’t need to share your experiments, in fact, I think it’s best to expect some really ugly and dissatisfying pages to begin with 🤣 Anything else that happens will be considered a win! But you won’t really know what is possible until you let got of controlling the outcome ❤️

    I think that with all the shading in this images, even a newbie would get great result. Matsuda style is very forgiving. ❤what a great video. Thanks for sharing.

      Yes! It’s easy to be intimidated by the details but this book is great because you have thumbnails, coloured pages and QR codes for inspiration, and if you really look at the drawings themselves, there is a lot of information there to help get you started too.

    Love this I’m wondering if you can use some kind of indelible ink to do own drawing to watercolour over , any one know of any techniques?

    • @spare_room_studio
      @spare_room_studio  3 месяца назад

      Yes you can! You need to make sure it’s waterproof first….just do a few little test sketches maybe, let it dry thoroughly before you apply any water. Just remember this will not be lightfast - if you intend to create original art to display it won’t last long unless kept out of natural light (and that’s near on impossible in normal living conditions). I’d do a few tests in your sketchbook and date it, and check back at various times to see if it fades - I’d hate for you to do something you wish to last long term and find it has not. Hope that helps, Jackie

    Hi: I want to know if the washable crayola markers are ok or you are using another kind?

    • @spare_room_studio
      @spare_room_studio  3 месяца назад +1

      I am using Supertips but I would guess that any water based marker should work in the same way. I will be trying some different Crayola markers in the future 🤞

    So very beautiful! 😍Different and much more creative than simply using pencils. I’m definitely going to try this technique, both the pic and especially the background. Love the unpredictability. Love the book too I’ve just put it on my wish list. 😍 Thank you again!

      It’s a lovely book. And yes, it is very unpredictable and that’s precisely why I enjoy it 😉 there’s only so much you can plan so why not let go a little and just embrace whatever happens in our colouring books 😊

    I’m going in! Just trying to get used to how much I need to put on, it soaks in quite fast but then continues to move around a bit
    Please could you show the back of the page, just out of interest?

    • @spare_room_studio
      @spare_room_studio  3 месяца назад +1

      Good on you for diving in ❤️ in part 2 I show the back before I proceed with pencils….I’m trying to remember to do that and will also try to show it in completed pages in future 🤞 Don’t expect to perfect this style on your first go, it will take some practise - but you can do it - have fun! 😊
