Hi, I really enjoyed what you had to say and all your beautiful pages. I would love to see all of your Camilla d'Errico pages, they are gorgeous!
Just around Christmas I did an updated flip through of my Camilla d’Errico book collection….I also have a playlist that you can find book collections in 👍 Thanks for watching!
@spare_room_studio Sorry, I didn't see that. I'll definitely have a look!
I have Nicolette's book, Colors of Autumn, and it is a fabulous place for novice painters (like me) to practice. I could wish the paper was a little better quality but the drawings encourage me to try.
I hear you on the paper, but the illustrations are lovely aren’t they? Sometimes the paper can be a positive though….for some people it allows them to be more free and relaxed to experiment knowing that they aren’t going to “ruin” an expensive book. Scanning and printing onto better paper is an option that might help there….once you’ve practised you can use the better paper to create something special?! Thanks for watching, Jackie
In my 8 years of colouring, Ink House is probably the book that has given me the most pleasure. The distinct personality of all the characters jump off the page and it was no effort to add colour.
It’s a beautiful book, isn’t it?! If you are on Instagram check out Helenkusterpainting, she has coloured Ink House beautifully and I’ve been fortunate to look through it in person ❤️ Helen is an amazing Artist!
Hi😊😊 I loved seeing all your choices, plus love we share green as our fav colour 💚☘️🐸🌿🌴🌱🦖🌳🍃🍏
Thank you 🤗 It ain’t easy being green but we love it! 💚🐸🍀🌲🐍🐢🐛🦎🥝🥦🧤🍏🥒🦜🚛🐊🪲🧑🎤 (wow, didn’t realise so many green emojis 🤢😁)
I like to makingnmetal look rusty also. There's just something about it that draws me in and I love doing brickwork with moss etc. I love your pages they are beautiful xx
That’s a great idea to add moss….for some reason that hasn’t occurred to me yet 😄 Thanks for watching!
@@spare_room_studio your welcome and glad I could help xx
❤😊❤😊❤😊❤
Enjoyed all your pages and I love your wrap so beautiful.
Thank you, it’s so soft and looks rather pretty on….I have some lovely pink cotton yarn that I’m considering making another one 😉
Just want to tell you how much I appreciate your candid views and down-to-earth attitude in general. I've been watching many of your chatty color alongs and enjoy them much more than videos where it's just music and color numbers/names on the screen. It's like having a friend in the room with me and I appreciate that, so thank you for being you. I like to be more expressive in my coloring also., so it's very inspiring to watch your process. :) On the issue of videos encouraging consumerism and buying things you don't really want/need to enjoy the hobby of coloring, I agree with you 100%! The whole issue of consumerism is so important to address. In ALL aspects of our lives. I'm sure everyone has seen the massive mountains of garbage that are slowly taking over many third world countries and it's such a tragedy. Not to mention what is happening in our oceans and lakes and rivers. I just want to cry sometimes. I was thinking it would be cool to set up a coloring book exchange website. Maybe my son can help me with that. Who knows. I have a channel currently that focuses primarily on junk journals and that whole niche, and have gotten to where I am very burned out on it, so I'm considering a new channel surrounding my other life, which is coloring, watercolor painting, crocheting, collage, dying, sewing, and basically anything else that lets me play with colors. So in that, I'm now thinking about how to structure my content and thinking of what kind of vibe I want to bring to RUclips. I know that people in our age group (assuming you are somewhere between 40 and 60), are really getting alot from making videos, and watching/listening to videos from creators in our demographic that are really about connecting with each other, and I feel like that's what I get from your channel, so I guess I'm really saying that I wanna be like you when I grow up. Hahahha! Not really, but I think you know what I mean. I wish I could meet up with you some day for coffee and a nice breakfast. (I'm not a breakfast eater either, but I do like a nice stack of pancakes with sausage now and then). Sorry for the incredibly long comment, but thank you for the enjoyable content. Jess
Thank you Jess, that's so kind of you to say! I really appreciate your comment. A coffee catch up sounds amazing….I shall have to win the lottery so I can travel the world meeting my colouring friends 😊 Creative hobbies by their very nature do seem to encourage spending and amassing supplies so it’s hard to find the balance for some of us to only buy what we need…use it…and then purchase again as we need it! When I discover a new hobby I tend to dive in and feel like I “need” all the correct tools and supplies to be successful - I have tubs of yarn waiting to be turned into beautiful creations, and while it won’t go off it is taking up precious real estate in my house! So hobbies and FOMO do seem to go hand in hand for me, and I tend to buy things in sales so that I never pay full price which is another justification that doesn’t always make sense 🥴 I’ve started donating some yarn to my craft group ladies who make things for charity - I don’t feel so bad knowing that it is going to be turned into blankets for local hospitals treating cancer patients and local nursing homes etc and the craft ladies (mostly older ladies) have the enjoyment and sense of satisfaction creating for others too ❤️ It’s all rather complex but very much comes back to me…and I need to be constantly aware of what is motivating me to keep buying stuff. Thanks for watching and commenting, Jackie
Enjoyed seeing your pages and hearing your answers to the questions. Your Camilla d’Errico pages are awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 😊
Green is my favourite colour too💚
💚 I love all shades of green….I have several quilt covers based on green shades, I used green when I tried making a patchwork quilt, we have two IKEA wing back chairs in green velvet, we’ve had green walls once, I’ve owned green cars…..but don’t wear green myself other than the shawl I made 🤣
Bravo!
Hi Jackie, wonderful video, I love seeing your work, and very interesting answers. Loved the extra crinkle of the pages. I might just put a colouring book in water for a day just to have the crinkling 😂
I think you need to sacrifice an Amazon book Jane….spray each page lightly with a water bottle and you will have your own source of crinkle when you need it 🤣 Thanks for watching ❤️
Absolutely amazing pages, Jackie! I’m always so inspired after watching any of your videos, you’re so talented. I loved the monochromatic Camilla pages. I love when she does that, but I still haven’t tried it on my pages. That shawl is gorgeous!! I tried to crochet years ago, but maybe I should try again ☺️ Thanks for doing tag!! Take care❤️
Thanks Erica, it’s a great list of questions you came up with ❤️ I really enjoy crochet a lot and taught myself through watching RUclips videos (there are so many generous content creators out there) but I don’t spend as much time doing it since I got back into colouring so heavily. Camilla’s monochromatic paintings are so beautiful and a great source of inspiration 😊 Thank you for being a great inspiration in the colouring community, Jackie
It's so funny how you like to use as little different media on the same page as possible and I love to grab a mountain of different stuff and go to town 🤣
🤣 yes! That’s what is great about these tags….we get to see just how varied everyone’s likes and dislikes are and how there is room for all of it 😉 It was actually quite interesting to look back over finished pictures with particular questions in mind and see just how I enjoy colouring the most.
Wonderful video! I almost started the Egusa piggies and teacups page the other day! You did such a fantastic coloring on that page ❤. And I'm really looking forward to your work on the Tomic book. I love his books and know you'll make magic there. I've so enjoyed your sharing of all your artwork here !!!
Kanoko’s books are so pretty aren’t they?! I’ve kept Sprookjesbos out and hope to do a page to celebrate Faebruary this month 🤞
Beautiful pages Jackie and I love your sketch book with your drawings.
Thanks Louise 😊
Without going through all of my completed pages, the favorite page I've done that comes to mind is actually the first page I ever did, in the first book I ever bought to color in.. it's from Mythographic Wild Winter by Joseph Catimbang and is a huge elaborate gate with large ornamental oranda goldfish swimming around. There is a little girl sitting on the ground, facing away from the viewer, doing a spell to create the magic. I just love everything about it. As for uncolored pages I would have to choose Kirby's Mythomorphia.. which I actually bought years before I started coloring just because I loved to look at it, the art was so stunning, creative, and original. I don't have time at the moment to touch on the other questions, but may try to come back to it this weekend.
I have Wild Winter but can’t place the page (I shall have to look for it 😉) Do you have Instagram? Or share your work anywhere? I have quite a few Mythomorphia pages complete now and have enjoyed that book a lot 👍
Thank you. Very helpful.
You're welcome! 😊
I love your work ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Great video! Loved all your favorite books and pages ! They are just stunning . I’m getting out all my Camilla D Eerrico book out today and I’m going to pick one and use water mediums on it ! I love how you work on yours so I’m going to try it ! Thank you for in inspiration ❤
You're very welcome, I hope you enjoy it! 😊
You are so very talented. Thank you for sharing this. I very much enjoyed hearing your thoughts. Be blessed.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Those first two kanoko pages are stunning Jackie . Would love you to do a just pencil colour along at some point . I’ve learnt a lot watching you use wet mediums so far . Your Camilla pages are so good and colourful , makes me want to order all her books 😂. I only have one at the moment. I’ve kept my Inkhouse book uncoloured so far too .😊
I will think about that Louise if I plan to do another full pencil page….I don’t tend to do that often any more! Thanks for watching 😊
Beautiful pages and crochet Jackie thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you! 😊
Hi Jackie all of your pages are beautiful, but the last image, Camilla d'Errico, Mermaids, girl with a fish on her head is absolutely stunning beautiful amazing 😍
Thank you 😊
Hello Jackie Beautiful work🌹🌹🌹
Thanks so much! 😊
Hi Jackie beautiful colouring in.. thank u for sharing ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊xxxx
You’re welcome 😊
Wow I can see why your favorite pages are your favorite. They are absolutely beautiful. People are one of my favorite things to color also.
Thanks for watching ❤️
The last two pages in the video with the girl in the goldfish those two are my most favorites ever I love watching you do your videos and give insight to your thought process. Very cool.❤❤❤
That’s great to hear, I think she’s a beautiful page! 😄
Great video Jackie😊💜
Thank you! 🤗
Loved your pages, just beautiful! I have a question. How are the art nouveau set to color on top of? I thought I heard someone say they were more difficult to color on top of, I could totally be mistaken though. I just wanted to ask because I adore the colors in that set, but since I primarily color over top of watercolor, I hesitated to get them. Please share with me your thoughts, ❤❤❤
Hi Jenn, I’ve found when used heavily and they dry with the shiny/glossy look they are definitely harder to colour over with pencils, but when used that way they don’t really need pencil. When I used the paints as a very diluted watercolour wash I am able to layer pencils much easier. My personal goal is try and be less reliant on needing to use pencils over the top of watercolours so these paints might force me to become more comfortable with that, but if you like to use a lot of pencil over top then more traditional watercolours might be better suited to your needs. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching, Jackie
@spare_room_studio thank you Jackie!
You completed a large number of pages. The mix media tea cup page is beautiful. You used the cauliflower effect (aka bloom) on all the backgrounds nicely as well. The Gansai Tambis provide interesting texture.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Great Coloring!
Thanks for watching, I’ve had fun playing with the various effects last month 👍
That Goat/Ram image in cosmic spirit is Stunning! Also the hare with the blue watercolour background ❤ Do you have a tutorial on it or similar with your water based markers? I have Tombows and would love to see one 😊 Thankyou!
Yes I do! This is the link ruclips.net/video/FH_-9bdFAKU/видео.htmlsi=xt2z99Zdd2qa4_XP I have a playlist titled “How I use my art supplies”. I do not own Tombow specifically but you will be able to use the same sort of techniques with most water based markers.
I don’t like books with a lot of white backgrounds either, for example I didn’t buy Johanna’s most recent book manically worlds because there was just so much white space! I also found the artwork a bit ‘samey’ as her other works. I am however looking forward to her new Wildflower book and hopefully some double page spreads and new designs. Lovely flip through, my favourite was butterfly with the parchment effect background. Gorgeous ❤
I understand what you are saying about repetition so it’s very helpful to watch flip through videos before deciding on books now. On larger scale books it can definitely be challenging to fill the background! Thanks for watching😊
very pretty pages
Thanks Rachel 😊
You are an excellent teacher and a great talent 😊😊
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! 😊
You always have such stunning results in your completed pages!
Thank you so much! 😊
Amazing work…never knew watercolor could get these results on not the best paper for watercolor 👏👏👏
I do push the paper as far as I can 🤣 thanks for watching.
Great pages 💗💜💗
Thanks so much!
❤ Beautiful Pages.. LOvE the ken book , that loose acquarelle style really suites the illustrations and i also enjoy the crinkling noise of the pages 😂
Thank you, that crinkling sound is rather satisfying isn’t it?! 😄
Great pages! I find I do love your watercolors pages the best! They are amazing! I have yet to try watercolors: got nice paper and started scanning and printing some pages, just waiting for the paint to arrive! Thank you for the video!
Thanks so much, I hope you enjoy playing with your new paints 😊
Gorgeous ❤
Thank you! 😊
You're pages are stunning as always! 🩷
Thank you so much! 😊
Lovely pages Jackie! Love seeing your work in Camilla D’Errico. And your drawings are so cute!! I’m going to be drawing more this year, too. Looking forward to seeing your progress ☺️ Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Erica ❤️
Hi Jackie your pages are beautiful thanks for sharing xx
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful pages Jackie love your drawings too thank you for sharing ❤
Thanks so much 😊
You may feel that you didn't color a lot of pages, but the quality of your pages is what really counts for me. Each of your pages has real talent and depth to them. I love your work in the Ken Matsuda book, however I agree that your best coloring book pages are the two from Gugeli. You are so talented, your sketchbook drawings are fantastic. The characters are so cute, especially the party pigs.
Thanks Karen, that’s really kind of you. I had fun with the pigs! 🐷
Lovely selection of pages you’ve made this month Jackie, and such a variety of textures. Thank you I like these videos as it’s nice to see all your month’s pages together ❤
You are so welcome! thanks for watching 😊
When I bought my watercolor ground, I bought white instead of clear, and because it was what I already had on hand that's what I was using briefly in coloring books. To be honest that's what your watercolor ground prepped pages look like: exactly like mine do with Danial Smith WHITE watercolor ground applied, which greys out the lines to some degree. I expected that because I had to choose between the white and the clear, plus anything labeled "titanium white" -- including my own bottle of DS watercolor ground -- is always going to be more opaque than less. That's generally what titanium white pigment does; if you want a more translucent white you have to go with something else, like zinc oxide. But I didn't see anything like that on your bottle at the time, so I just kinda thought, "Huh," and continued watching on cruise control, lol. I don't know why I didn't think to do this before, because we even chatted back and forth in the comments on that video ("Colouring books and watercolour ground"), but today I looked up the specific product that you're using, the Derivan Matisse, and to my immense surprise neither the visible parts of the bottle nor the official Matisse site ever say whether it's "white" or "clear" or what it's supposed to be! So I'm not sure how you were ever supposed to have known. But if you get a chance, look at some videos using the DS or other CLEAR watercolor ground, because to the best of my memory the clear does not grey out the black ink lines at all. For me it's not an issue because I now use the acrylic glazing liquid, which is always clear, but if your ongoing preference is for watercolor ground then you should be aware that when you run out and are ready to upgrade, a clear product might suit you better than this unlabeled what-have-you. I know you were just getting this inexpensive bottle as a trial, but to me it is a disservice not to let a buyer know upfront whether it's opaque or not, IMO. But even so, you made it work for you. That's what I love, and it's how we learn. Great video, Jackie!
That’s interesting and I will keep it in mind, though to be fair I don’t know if I really want to be bothered with prepping pages - I’m rather lazy and would rather just be colouring 😁 Thanks for watching and your comments, Jackie
Great video Jackie! You have a style all your own that's so lovely. Thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks so much Linda 😊
Your pages in the ken Matsuda book are really amazing.
Thank you 😊
