ER brought in mass appeal to what was inherently a niche series. its only natural yet sad that the big bad redman gets a bad wrap. the only mind boggling decision is that fromsoft has decided to pander against invaders while keeping the invasion mechanic in the game. like i cant tell whether miyazaki likes invaders or just has no clue what to do with that playerbase so he just keeps adding it haphazardly.
he wants to keep it because it's a very original idea that's been in the core of the series, but like everything else it has been used to dilute the identity of the game to go from "genuinely hard game with a learning curve that stomps on you for making mistakes" to "game that seems hard but is actually extremely easy and imbalanced to give the average normie the illusion of overcoming challenges and feeling like an epic radahn kevin with much less effort".
Not true, Dark Souls 3 sold 10 millions, you cannot call a game that sold 10 millions niche. "fromsoft has decided to pander against invaders" They are not doing that. He clearly likes invaders since he literally created that system and decided to keep it in Elden Ring
I remember trying to invade for the first time on Elden Ring for the Mohg quest and it was a taunter host at the crab shack. I didn’t really know the rules of invading so I assumed that I was supposed to be respectful like in duels only to get obliterated and teabagged. Mind you this was the first week the game came out and my first online experience was toxicity out the gate. I didn’t want to play online anymore after that, deeming it a waste of time and seeing how people are actively griefing invaders, I suppose that first week helped me dodge a bullet. Maybe next game.
@@greenpinapple820 pve players aren’t trying to have fun they’re trying to beat the game without engaging with it. It’s the equivalent of playing halo on legendary with your little brother and you’re doing all the work and keeping him as a spawn anchor. It’s pathetic loser behavior.

I hate getting ganked but enjoy PVP in the open world. My solution is to host, use TT and 1v1 an invader when they come in. IF they run away and don't engage I use hunters because i can't kick the invader out for not engaging without completing a marathon.
steel engages with them for content but for regular folks the best counter to TT griefers is to simply waste their time. And the fact that that’s the case is pretty damn sad.

Elden Rings my first Souls game, so Idk what the opinion of invaders was like in previous entries, but I have around 2000 hours in Er Co-op now so I like to think my opinion has some substance behind it at least :p I think a lot of the hate from Invaders stems from the core issues invaders face. I'll bullet point it down since my brains tired - People dont like invaders because 3v1s are so inherantly unfair that it forces invaders into tactics like constantly running away into the next group of enemies. - this can go on for ages, or in certain areas just running constantly back and forth. - this is incredablly unfun for the chasers perspective (doesnt sound fun for invaders too). - But hosts are going to keep summoning 2 co-operators because 2 is better than 1 right? right!? - Just cooping with a single cooper is a lot more fun and the invasions feel way more healthy and engaging with fun back and forth fights. The host is usually in-experienced, while the cooper has a hybrid pve/pvp build but also half flasks like the invader, but the flasks also need to carry him through the rest of the level and bosses and other invaders too. - From my perspective this seems more fair and balanced and fun for all parties but would like to hear from invaders perspective on 2v1s on normals hosts (not gankers). - I think easist solution would remove 3 player co-op, or put more of a penalty for 3 man team coops or a insentive for 2man teams. - Dream solution would be to allow a second invader for 3 man teams as a 3v2 sounds fun af on a legit co-op team. 2 coopers having to defend a dumb host lol Would love to hear the badredmen perspective, but I do really want to enjoy co-oping again, but From really hate multiplayer.
Invaders griefing is how I played Demon Souls. Broken Scraping Spear, Acid Cloud, and never actually killing the people I invade. Break all their stuff, then run off into the enemies and taunt them. That's griefing. Not going into a 1v2 or 1v3 willingly. To borrow a word from Steel...Kurwa.
The dude at 17:28 has to have a mental disability, doesnt coop, summon neither invades or duel but is talking about what the rest of us can and cannot do in the game what causes people to comment on something they will never interact in any meaningful way in their life?
If I were a ganker I’d be really unhappy with this system too. The gankers purpose is to use every possible advantage they can against you. That is how it’s supposed to be. But elden ring gives them too much. A ganker who follows their calling and uses every possible advantage will win about 9 times out of 10 (if not more) against even the best invader with an optimal setup. Loosing will just come down to bad luck. That has to be disappointing from the gankers perspective too. I mean that’s why we have almost no skilled gankers. There is 0 challenge for them.
I've actually had similar experience to that hearted comment. I was not as discouraged about it, only started to invade after about 50% of the game story, too.
Invaders, besides their vast PvP experience, optimize their loadout for PvP which is optimised at quickly dispatching human opponents. I find it hilarious when they start bitchin' and moanin' about invasions being unfair 🤣🤣🤣. And that's why Chase will always be a GOAT! EDIT: In addition, what can be a greater advantage than the ability to quit out of an invasion without having to restart your game using the finger severer? My question to whiny invaders is: would you trade the ability to deactivate taunter's tongue for the ability of the host to quit out of an invasion using the finger severer? I think not. Also, if as an invader you don't like the disadvantage of being the invader what stops you from using the taunter's tongue yourself and see what it's like to face high skill players, after all it's still PvP, the only difference is you don't get the cool red tint or the marker on your screen telling you where the invader is! Formsoft has done a fantastic job at game balancing and some geek who literally makes money from playing the same game all day every day thinks he knows best because it's no longer "easy pickings" out in the glorious and diverse world of Elden Ring.
Just imagine three Kevin’s who figured out that endure into dragons breath is possible. How would you be able to beat them in a location with limited area and no cover? Basically impossible unless they kill themselves by stupidity
IF elden ring add Indictment system and avoid host resummon their phantom, then it is good if they decided to keep the turn on turn off taunter tongue system.
I've been thinking there has to be a way to make a mod that would essentially run through matchmaking and opt out of anyone using a taunters tongue to invade there has to be a separate set of code the game uses when someone uses it right? Or am just completely overthinking it, thoughts? I know this concept could be possible because I've played other games that have mods available to them that would enable a more reasonable matchmaking like for "example" monster hunter rise has awful matchmaking and I use a mod called "better matchmaking " because the way it's designed is trash and locked to only local regions.
That last comment did come from a interview but they didn't get what he said fully correct it was basicly "it's not in the invaders advantage, the invader is ment to be a stronger smarter enemy"
the part that irritates me is broski saying "he kept invading them because he bases his self worth on winning invasions"... like bro, they were getting priority regardless because of how they were using the tongue. the moment you click the tongue on you get priority for invasions. so clicking it on, then getting someone, then clicking it off is a broken mechanic. regardless of how you feel about pvp.
I have a small youtube channel and I actually rely on the Taunter's Tongue for my content, because I host invasions and do things like disguise trolling. Though I understand the criticisms it will pretty much kill my content if the tongue gets removed since waiting 30 minutes for invaders would make hosting not feasible :'(. But at least I have a backlog of content recorded so if it gets removed I could still last a year or so.
TT should only be available in grace, once activated you should not be able to use torrent to reach difficult points and, preventing the host from deactivating it at will, The only way the host could disable the TT is if the invader is not in your world or has already left or died of course.
I really liked getting invaded solo in DS1,2,3 and elden ring. All I do is activate the item and not summon a helper. Getting an invader they always seem to wonder, where is his teammate? I'm sure hes arround the corner. Being able to disable the item while an invasion is happening is just bad.
I do disagree with the use of CE for certain items for example Dumpling, having to farm materials do reduce invasion rate, but having everything in you arsenal doesn't make you equal to 2 angry man ganking in small space.
Non-taunters invasions are correctly unbalanced but invasions don’t happen often enough for the host. Taunters on gives too much back to the invaders, I hardly ever die with a co-invader. So honestly I don’t blame hosts for turning it off, but it’s a stupid situation.
you can get invaded when playing alone just simply activate the furlcalled finger remedy and you are good to go happened to me 4 times in my almost 2000 hours of elden ring now forgot to turn it off, just stood by a grace and got invaded takes a bit of time since the taunters tongue increases the chance but it still works also you have to count to the fact that also bosses can attack and almost one shot you i had an invasion in the dlc whwre the host camped around the ghost dragon at the beginning with scadulevel 1 or 2 and the dragon continuously tramped on me and almost one shot me with every step
The best move I ever made was using CE for items. I have a life outside of the game lol. I have to go to work and I want to hang with my friends not farm for consumables on a game I like. It’s not that deep 😂
Bruh they just need to patch out griefing methods and stop limiting rare items which pushes people to cheat. Boom fixed Oh and make the colloseum work with game mode priorities like smash bros. Boom fixed v2
i love how the general shift in the playerbase from ds3 to elden ring is like ds3: gankers are pathetic elden ring: gankers are heroes altho with majority of new players i kinda doubt you could call em real part of the playerbase sorry not sorry but the popularity of elden ring rly attracted a bunch of whiny casuls to the game
in the end its sad and funny that people take this shit sooo seriously and attack each other personally. souls online discourse stinks, older dirk sols CCs probably being only one staying sane i guess
At 16:00 you say "people don't understand the concept of asymmetric PvP and a lot of people play Dead by Dailight". DbD is a multiplayer game. When someone buys that game and boots it, they do so because they want to PvP. That's not true in ER. ER is the only game that forces PvP interaction on players that only want to play coop. On previous games, it was forcing PvP interactions on players that wanted to play singleplayer. Ofc this creates resentment and those people now enjoy when your experience turns to shit. I don't understand why is it so hard for the PvP community of the souls series to grasp the idea that there are people that just don't enjoy PvP in their games. They don't want to "git gud", they don't want to change their build for PvP, they don't want to deal with hard swaps, etc. They just want to shoot the shit with their friends and kill some mobs. And they want to do so in Elden Ring. They bought the game just like you. The popularity of the seamless coop mod shows this. And every time anyone points this out, the PvP community just replies "these are the mechanics; if you don't like them, play something else". Now when this shit happens ofc those people will respond in kind. Like.. what do you expect? As long as you don't want to give other players any say in how they play the game they bough, they won't agree with you either. Look even at "dedicated" multiplayer games. Starcraft 2's current playerbase is 80% coop exclusive, even though the game is focused on 1v1s. Imagine having a patch that foced you to win a ladder match every time, before you were allowed to play coop.
I think that they are making a new game where they gonna have all these things fixed and will bring back the DS3 pvp player amount or even more. That’s the reason I think they haven’t fixed these problems in Elden Ring even tho they have had so many patches🤘🏼 Sad? Yess
I like your allegiance with OnlyWaifu as of late. Both very great elden ring content creators! Keep up the good work, you, chasethebro and OnlyWaifu are top tier.
because they're scrubs, most weapons that are good in pve are horrible in pvp and vice versa, it allows for so much more build variety that it is one of the main reasons why fromsoft games are so replayable I can't imagine having more than 1000 hours in the game with pve alone unless you like speedrunning or something similar, I've played pve so much that I can't even get through limgrave anymore out of boredom
This sounds like a get good problem for invaders imo. You wanna play pvp, you get whatever randomness you get. Just because some rooks ganked a good player, this thing is toxic and needs to be removed? Yet you dont care when you invade people while they are in a bad spot or fighting npc enemies, and you catch them completely off guard using the same disadvantages you had against you while invading that "gank" team..... and what kinda scrub who invades people is hoping for a 2 invader to help in the first place...
i don’t get how one can hate invaders, when i’m summoned to a regular player it’s fun to try to turn it into a civil 1v1. when it comes to ganks i like to try to make it peaceful (which rarely works).
It depends on what kind of invader we're speaking of. Due to PvP been far more layered towards host's side and the nature of open world as a whole (easy to get a broken build without leveling even once), it almost incentives invaders to be extremely well prepared in terms of gear as possible. So imagine a newcomer being greeted by a twink with antspur, sleep pots and an almost never ending fp regen from duped starlight shards. It would certainly spoil the idea of invasion system for them.
Guys I'm really confused about all this. If the gankers steel was fighting had left the taunters tongue off, then steel invaded them while they weren't in an invasion cool down, wouldn't all of their advantages be the same? No enemies, enclosed room with no escape, and max level password phantom? Steel wouldn't have had the possibility of getting help in that scenario either. Is the idea behind the taunters tongue fix only being toggleable at a grace that if gankers still wanted the insane numbers advantage, they'd have to deal with the invasion cooldown? And they'd hopefully get bored and stop ganking? Is there any guarantee of that? I just don't think changing the tongue is the answer we are looking for. We know it's 6 player limit, but i think we are just grasping at straws at this point.

Yeah, as much shit as that game gets I have way more fun in that game. I like all the unintended tech like backstab escapes/toggle escapes/counter backstabs etc... I get why most people don't like it but at the same time I feel like the people that shit on it the most just don't know how to play it so they get backstabbed repeatedly lol
This is unironicly true
@@ni9274 you're right. it had been getting more and more accessible since 3. my point still stands though
Maybe, this is part of his dumbass philosophy that never worked.

Waifus editing is so obnoxious holy
Waifu figured out a hack to the algo and ran with it. Can't really blame them. Its been working.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

they should have always just had the TT be an item that once used cant be deactivated till the host dies
Elden Rings my first Souls game, so Idk what the opinion of invaders was like in previous entries, but I have around 2000 hours in Er Co-op now so I like to think my opinion has some substance behind it at least :p I think a lot of the hate from Invaders stems from the core issues invaders face. I'll bullet point it down since my brains tired
- People dont like invaders because 3v1s are so inherantly unfair that it forces invaders into tactics like constantly running away into the next group of enemies.
2 coopers having to defend a dumb host lol
Would love to hear the badredmen perspective, but I do really want to enjoy co-oping again, but From really hate multiplayer.
I love the fact that just yesterday a player called OnlyWifu was doing the exact same thing to my invasions 😂
Wifi annoys me fr, idk why...
The dude at 17:28 has to have a mental disability, doesnt coop, summon neither invades or duel but is talking about what the rest of us can and cannot do in the game
what causes people to comment on something they will never interact in any meaningful way in their life?
If I were a ganker I’d be really unhappy with this system too.
The gankers purpose is to use every possible advantage they can against you. That is how it’s supposed to be.
But elden ring gives them too much.
A ganker who follows their calling and uses every possible advantage will win about 9 times out of 10 (if not more) against even the best invader with an optimal setup. Loosing will just come down to bad luck.
That has to be disappointing from the gankers perspective too.
I mean that’s why we have almost no skilled gankers. There is 0 challenge for them.
the one guy in chat lmao
I've actually had similar experience to that hearted comment. I was not as discouraged about it, only started to invade after about 50% of the game story, too.
The macalania woods theme from ffx is in this video.. I love that composition.
Next patch will be fixed, get the copium tanks.
ALL THOSE COMMENTS ARE FROM PEOPLE THAT NEVER INVADED IN THEIR LIFE.
its all casul host gankers :/
They gotta make it so when you get invaded you can't undo it.
My question to whiny invaders is:
would you trade the ability to deactivate taunter's tongue for the ability of the host to quit out of an invasion using the finger severer?
Golden arrows can be maxed out in-game with no cheats but surely people don’t expect anyone to actually waste time doing that
There’s also challenge runs, lobos got infinite content there at the beginning of these games
But at least I have a backlog of content recorded so if it gets removed I could still last a year or so.
ppl should be saying "fix taunter's tongue" not "remove taunter's tongue"
@@askew1319 Indeed
TT should only be available in grace, once activated you should not be able to use torrent to reach difficult points and, preventing the host from deactivating it at will,
The only way the host could disable the TT is if the invader is not in your world or has already left or died of course.
I really liked getting invaded solo in DS1,2,3 and elden ring. All I do is activate the item and not summon a helper. Getting an invader they always seem to wonder, where is his teammate? I'm sure hes arround the corner. Being able to disable the item while an invasion is happening is just bad.
Just go with Seamless coop for you to have complete flasks and able to do basically anything.
I do disagree with the use of CE for certain items for example Dumpling, having to farm materials do reduce invasion rate, but having everything in you arsenal doesn't make you equal to 2 angry man ganking in small space.
This is what happens when a game becomes mainstream.
Non-taunters invasions are correctly unbalanced but invasions don’t happen often enough for the host. Taunters on gives too much back to the invaders, I hardly ever die with a co-invader. So honestly I don’t blame hosts for turning it off, but it’s a stupid situation.
Invasors just need blue (or purple) partners like the host. We just want Dark Souls 3 system.
you can get invaded when playing alone
just simply activate the furlcalled finger remedy and you are good to go
happened to me 4 times in my almost 2000 hours of elden ring now
forgot to turn it off, just stood by a grace and got invaded
takes a bit of time since the taunters tongue increases the chance but it still works
also you have to count to the fact that also bosses can attack and almost one shot you
i had an invasion in the dlc whwre the host camped around the ghost dragon at the beginning with scadulevel 1 or 2 and the dragon continuously tramped on me and almost one shot me with every step
The best move I ever made was using CE for items. I have a life outside of the game lol. I have to go to work and I want to hang with my friends not farm for consumables on a game I like. It’s not that deep 😂
Es genial ver a un hispano llevarse tan bien con un Polaco o alguien fuera de latinoamerica :3

souls online discourse stinks, older dirk sols CCs probably being only one staying sane i guess
This made me lose hope in elden rong community
We do a little trolling ngl
how can people not like pvp😭
because they're scrubs, most weapons that are good in pve are horrible in pvp and vice versa, it allows for so much more build variety that it is one of the main reasons why fromsoft games are so replayable
I can't imagine having more than 1000 hours in the game with pve alone unless you like speedrunning or something similar, I've played pve so much that I can't even get through limgrave anymore out of boredom
Because a lot of ppl only play pve. They miss a lot of the game this way.
I love how Steel supports his favorite femboy ❤
13:00 to skip the cringe AI voice
10:09 Totally agree

Be honest. You are a professional video game player that wants to run around showing how you can crush people for RUclips content. Taunter’s Tongue is making it harder for you to produce content.
