    Ah, this video plays great along with your video "Coach Brian's Armbar From Back Control Sequence". Going to watch these 2 several times today and teach it to our students tonight. Lots of great details I'll have to remember. Thanks again Coach Brian - you're the best!

    Definitely trying this this week. I end up in this gift wrap position at least once per roll and only get the arm bar maybe 50% of the time. Thanks Brian.

    I love doing armbars from the giftwrap, and I’ll start trying this right away! Thanks for another great video.

    These type of attacks are awesome to have in your arsenal. It’s not common for me to gift wrap a purple, brown or black, but if I do, this will definitely ensure a sub.

    Timely video Brian. I always feel that my finishing percentage is way too low from this position. There is a nice collar choke in the gi if you Loop over and then switch from the arm to the collar with the left hand but this just adds another great option that will work gi and no gi.

    • @TeachMeGrappling
      @TeachMeGrappling  7 лет назад

      Thank you! I feel the same way which is why I started searching for better ways.

      Also Brian, this is a legit technique for what some people would term a weak-side back attack. If you establish that kimura grip you can transition into the position off the back. Rob Biernacki did a long video about attacks on the weak or underhooking side from the back and I am pretty sure he was stressing the control with the leg across the hip and then hooking the other leg over the arm to take it out of the equation. Same thing really - guys getting very good at fighting off chokes and needing another set of attacks to catch them off guard.

    What about at the very beginning of the gift wrap you take your posted right foot and stomp the left arm to the floor right before adjusting for the arm bar?

    • @TeachMeGrappling
      @TeachMeGrappling  6 лет назад +2

      Yes someone else mentioned this. It’s possible. I will experiment soon.

    great video with the armbar from gift wrap. used to do this a lot but my partners but they started to defend more then I could hit it. also the ghost escape video (WOW!!!)with your legs crossed at the end. is it possible to get them trap like if you tried that from crossing them in a back mount??

  • @spfdff

    Question... when you step your initial leg over and secure the gift wrap, couldn’t you use your foot to address the hand used to defend the arm bar? It seems like your foot and that hand are right next to each other... it seems like you could stomp the hand (preventing it from defending the arm bar) and then bring your other leg over the head to finish 🤔

    I'm trying to think of the possible escapes to get out of that armbar. It nullifies the hitchhiker, they can't get the momentum needed to get on top and stack while slowly slipping their elbow out, you can't catch the lower leg between your legs be cause you need to push that leg with your hand/elbow and in this scenario its trapped. Actually you can go from a traditional armbar to this armbar if the guy puts the leg that normally goes around your face behind their head, all you need to do is connect your feet. Yeah, they can go to this armbar if you try to escape the way you just recently posted ruclips.net/video/VN_8pjeGdKI/видео.html
