I started working halfguard years back, I kept rolling with good wrestlers who had really good base and could keep me down in full guard, when I started working half my ability to sweep and attack jumped way up.
Putting my foot up and sitting back 9:04 is something I haven't been doing when going against someone legit and knows how to wrestle. This is going to help Me. Thank You
Man ever since I found this channel my game has improved so much. We are so lucky to have youtube and guys like you to give us these lessons 🙏 thank you so much.
That’s a beautiful flow of techniques you display at the beginning of the video. It’s great to see an effective way to shift from smashed flat into Dogfight / bottom half guard into a sweep into the mount. Great content as always. Thank you.
I love half guard and play it all the time, so I can't believe that I had forgotten about bridging and using your arm to push the head when in a crossface. Great sweep, well taught, great details. Thanks Brian!
So good. I keep finding these older gems on this channel and am just blown away every time by the simplicity and the effectiveness. Thank you once again Coach Brian for sharing your knowledge!
Absolutely love your video's ! We just finished the half guard series before lockdown hit and this is so great as a refresher to watch, love the way you break down techniques.... Thank you - Oss
@6:35 And when I teach I teach a lot about posts and so I know when I come up with that under hook he posts I would sweep that arm and put him right on his belly! Then in Wrestling we understand how to sweep those arms around to get arm bars in Wrestling! I would use them by under hooking the other side and I would have a arm umaplada with my arm
5:40 "the beginners of the world will try to lay on you, put pressure" I guess after 2 years I'm still a beginner 😩 Then what should the top person be doing instead of putting pressure and trying to get the bottom person flattened out?
This is super high percentage stuff here. I hit this constantly. If I my get guard passed, I let people mount just so I can knee/elbow escape to half during their step over, right into this sweep.
This is what I saw correct me if I am wrong Hook ankle with inside leg Opposite hand on hip Bridge against head to get on side Using outside leg for strength Get on side Kneel shield Frame Connect elbow to knee Kick forward with knee shield Wrap arm around waist They wizard you Put weight on them Use outside leg to scrap leg off Move Inside leg back underneath tapped leg Step freed leg out Sit back If he is on his knee attack knee pushing forward If you can grab the ankle with arm being wizared Pushing forward to get mount
I find it very hard to get myself up to partner's back using the underhook (at 11:35). Do you have any drills for that? Though I feel that my fat butt and belly are weighing me down too much, so maybe it's "just" a question of loosing weight...
you're my favourite coach on the World Wide Web

Yup, this has been my go-to for a couple of years now. I guess I should learn something new. lol
It’s been my go to for 10 years now and I’m a brown belt still using this
Love that you taught this from a worst case scenario (getting smashed) too
Awsome Coach;
you've got such great skill and knowledge,
but really you're the best at breaking it down and demonstrating.
Many thanks.
Awesome*
Half guard is where I tend to end up the most with opponents larger than me. These sweeps are going the be helpful tomorrow night for sure! Thanks

Best grappling Channel on RUclips!
Xande Ribeiro also has a great half guard seminar up on YT.
Even though I can only practice like one move per week I cant stop watching a few of your videos every day. you are that good !
One of the best half guard bottom videos I’ve ever seen.
WOW! Now i know the details i lacked with this sweep. Damian miah is unstoppable with this sweep. Thanks coach

I love this overview of the halfguard , as a lower ranked belt I am a master at getting into the half guard against anyone . Can't get out though

5:40 "the beginners of the world will try to lay on you, put pressure"

Good shit! 💯
Beautiful!
Thank you Master !!

Coach can you make video about... how to control bigger opponent while side mount 🙂
I love this kind of half guard sweep/escape the best except when I get guillotined/darced after I get the underhook.
Magic! Thanks
Thank you 4 the detailssss
Amazing! thank you
This is gold. damn. thank you.
Wow!! Great video
Great stuff! Thanks
Great video, thanks 🙏🏽
This is what I saw correct me if I am wrong
Hook ankle with inside leg
Opposite hand on hip
Bridge against head to get on side
Using outside leg for strength
Get on side
Kneel shield
Frame
Connect elbow to knee
Kick forward with knee shield
Wrap arm around waist
They wizard you
Put weight on them
Use outside leg to scrap leg off
Move Inside leg back underneath tapped leg
Step freed leg out
Sit back
If he is on his knee attack knee pushing forward
If you can grab the ankle with arm being wizared
Pushing forward to get mount
So cool Brian. Great Job bro

So, instead of the top leg switch in dogfight, would you be able to hug and feed your post arm through the legs for the wedding sweep?
