- 2009 marked the 10 year anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants, so 55 flash games were released to celebrate it. Let's go through them all!

5:23 I never really liked the Love Hurts game, because it made me sad that you can't beat the game and therefore Patrick would stay angry forever
I disliked the Tasty Pastry Party game as well because it made SpongeBob and Patrick too unlikable. I was never a fan of the whole "Patrick eats anything and everything" gag after all.

That's the part I find the most frustrating about endless arcade-style games in general. Most of them don't have a win condition or quota for getting a good ending, in terms of the gameplay itself(or at all, if it has nothing to complete in the entire game otherwise), so considering the inevitability of having a kill screen, max time, and/or human limit, there's no proper ending. And by that I mean a static quota that lets you play afterward if you want/can, and not something like getting a new high score since eventually you will never get to have another one, even if you try to and the game still acts like it's possible.

i remember being scared by the game as a kid, i never even played it because i was too scared lol. i think it was a combination of the music and the way patrick stares directly at the screen with his red eyes, he's not even looking at spongebob but at the player
Man I remember seeing those certificates and didn't understand them. I just assumed it was thanking me for playing

I remember on Pool Party Pooper that if you feed Patrick as soon as the game starts, a glitch occurs that forces him into a corner, and for the rest of the game he won't be a problem
Tasty Pastry Party doesn’t feel real, it feels like an ARG someone would make during their free time
The Game Over screen where SpongeBob bounces off of Patrick’s belly will never not make me laugh or make me feel nostalgic

As a 90's/2000's Cartoon Network fan, I'm frankly kind of salty that SpongeBob alone got so many in one year and not any of those shows

2009 was the golden age of SpongeBob flash games
I used to play elbow grease scrub down for *hours* as a kid, that thing was addicting
The certificate at the end is forever burned into my memory even though I actually didn't know there was an event going on, I never questioned why some of the newest updated SpongeBob games all had that end screen
I used to play these exact spongebob flash games all the time when i was younger on nickelodeon's website.
Its just too bad that as the saying goes "all good things come to an end" and we eventually had to say R.I.P to adobe flash and the flash games as a whole simply because flash kept having so many security, technical, and maintenance issues
I've had the love hurts game stuck in my head since i was a kid, but i haven't been able to find it in recent years! awesome to see it mentioned
OMG you unlocked a core memory with Tasty Pastry Party. I used to play that way too much when I was younger. I totally forgot it existed until I saw it here. I can't believe that was an official licensed spongebob game. It honestly feels like a creepypasta game.
I am of the firm belief that Tasty Pastry Party made me who I am today
It's always a good day with spongebob. I especially loved the spongebob 10th anniversary flash games. Short, but sweeter than a glass of lemonade
I’m starting to wonder how much of This is Pop’s music was original, only because I swear I’ve heard the music for Dutchman’s Deck Dash of Doom in (of all things) an unlisted Thomas the tank engine video. If they did use stock music, Im not criticizing it - the show did the same.
I’m excited to see just how many flash games they made for 2009! 55 games just for the anniversary, that is devotion to the show.

When i was very little (before the age of 7) i exclusively played flash games since they were the only ones i knew of..
And let me tell you, i played almost ALL of these and remember everything about them.
No clue someone would have made a video about them, but i wanna thank you for doing so, lol
I remember playing Elbow Grease: Scrub Down for hours when I was a kid. I loved the Patrick plushie they used so much, I even nagged my parents into getting one for me! Thanks for the memory jog!
Fun Fact: Squidward’s Sizzlin’ Scare has a Game Grumps reference inside the data. The reference being a MegaMan joke that he gets “7 🫏.”

I remember when I used to play some certain SpongeBob flash games, a thing would pop up saying that I've unlocked a SpongeBob mini game.

"Cook it and book it" didn't take place in Squidward's house. It was in SpongeBob's house, which he redecorated to look like the former's, like in the episode it was based on.
2009 will always be such a nostalgic year for me because of all this celebration. In the future I gotta do my own video on SpongeBob's 10 year anniversary cause there is so much to talk about. Especially the international events and celebrations.
Who would have thought the flash games were better at celebrating the anniversary than the actual tv movie made for the 10 year blowout.
There's something about 2009 that I love so much. Just all of the nostalgic things I like coming out in that year makes me happy ^^

5:24 the love hurts game for me when I was 6 was so obscure and I could not find it so I believed that I made it up but from what I remember it did not looked like this except it had better atmosphere with it being dark and low light as Patrick had glowing red eyes. I guess that was my imagination putting it to work

I remember playing Deep Sea Surgeon at a cousin's house when the game released! Given that it's a surgery game, it's definitely one of the more unsettling ones, but at least since it's official, it's not one of those Elsagate atrocities. I just hope Polly Sparks doesn't overhear this conversation and get an idea!
Even if a lot of these are simple minigames, 55 is still incredibly absurd, even for a major anniversary at the peak of flash games' popularity. Now I'm just wondering how many of these were games they wanted to make before, but kept in the files or something.
I kinda wish Cartoon Network had something similar with all of its' shows, but then again, 2009 wouldn't exactly be a good time to do that, given its lineup during that year...

Anyway, anyone remember the Fisher-Price IXL? I have a young cousin who had one, and there was a SpongeBob part to it. I looked it up and there was a disc you got, which you'd install onto the console via USB. I'd love to see a video on it, there's barely anything about it online, but someone uploaded all the files on the Internet archive. Dunno if it'd be easily emulated or if you'd need an actual IXL, but I heard the setup included an emulator.
It didn’t occur to me back in the day these were for the anniversary but given most of them are based on episodes that makes a lot of sense

I remember when younger I really didn't like Workinman's artstyle, Patrick and Spongebob specifically because they always felt weirdly off-model... Seeing Stinky Swagger on the video reminded me of the whole reason why it happened lol, Spongebob looks so unsettling and uncanny

I remember a SpongeBob web game that was called “monster” something (must’ve been island I think..) and the point of the game was these little mini games that let you deal with these monster creatures for example there’s a hill climb (or mountain climb) where it’s Gary but a monster and someone was riding on top of it.

I like Modern SpongeBob and all, but some of these games (and some episodes on the show) made SpongeBob and Patrick way too unlikable. I feel that Tasty Pastry Party is a perfect example of where the franchise's direction was going. Having Patrick eat everything just makes him annoying... : /
