Nickelodeon Game Builder unlocked a core memory for me. Before I spent hours on the Super Mario Maker games, this was my jam (until its shutdown) It was what I thought of back when Super Mario Maker 1 was first announced
Same with Cartoon Network's attempt at a game maker. I wasn't even that interested in the shows it featured(Ben 10 and Adventure Time, and I'm sure a few others) at the time but I enjoyed it anyway.
Happy to get suggested this video so on-time. I'm still baffled at the sheer amount of official Flash games SpongeBob had gotten throughout the years, even for a cartoon that's so globally famous, long-running, and well-received. I am thankful for your dedication to making content about this underrated and unique corner of video game and internet history. Regardless of nostalgia, or even how expansive these games tend to be(they _are_ free-to-play and intended for websites, after all), I still think they're important and really fun to play. I'm happy others like you still care about them more than just the occasional cliché "Remember this from your childhood???" remark. I don't have a problem with those who just look back at something on the surface level of nostalgia, but I find it all the more enjoyable when someone goes into detail and retrospect.
Oh man, I remember loving Nickelodeon Game Builder a lot as a kid. It's very sad to see it's lost media, unfortunately. I also remembered when Cartoon Network used to have this video editor game on their website around 2011 that I couldn't remember the name of, that one is also maybe lost media as well.
Poop Deck Draw Down never failed to completely destroy me since I never understood the gameplay. I love the screams they use for it when you lose (Mr. Krabs uses his scream when he hits his foot on a rock in Sailor's Mouth). Boo or Boom had the most hardcore Flash game songs around, I actually listen to it on loop occasionally.
Seeing that image in the thumbnail I remember that spoons game clearly. I even remember playing it for over an hour while waiting for my parents to wake up one Christmas
I listen to these as game background noise too. Recently I've been playing games I've been coding in Scratch TurboWarp(especially this Touhou clone I've been working on that's been going exceptionally well for me), but as for games already made, some Mahjong Solitaire games, Tomodachi Life, FusionFall, as well as Flash games in themselves.
That Christmas carol one you mentioned near the end is an example of diagenic music; music that plays within the story of a piece of media, which the characters can hear, instead of being a background track that is inserted only for the audience/"4th-wall" to hear. I find it interesting that any of these games used that specific technique without being centered on the music itself directly, or playing at a rhythm or with an instrument; it's not something you see very often in non-music/rhythm games or features, at least as far as I'm aware. Only other example I can think of is Space Station Silicon Valley, with its radio mechanics, or shop/lobby music in games like Splatoon.
Remember that part in the Truth Or Square episode where the gang splits off from Mr. Krabs then like a minute later Mr. Krabs is just magically there with them with zero explanation on how he got back with them? Such a weird continuity error
Very nice to see this uploaded today! I know you're just a little guy talking about spongebob web games, but what you make means alot to me. These are nice little games that I grew up with. Now we're moving into 2009, the time I started using the internet! So wonderful to see. If you see this, just know that making things is always worth it. Whether it's art, RUclips videos or exercise, whatever you choose to do, you're making something, and that's the best thing one can do for themselves. Take care!
i just have to say i love this series so much. i grew up with so many of these old spongebob flash games and i actually completely forgot a lot of them existed. i keep going “YOOO HOLY SHIT I USED TO PLAY THAT ONE” and it’s bringing me great joy
Oh my God, The Game Builder! I used to play the hell out of that when I was a kid. Until now, I completely forgot about it! I really hope someone can recover that game, I'd love to play it again!
I loved that SpongeBob game builder so much. I would spend hours on it, making my own levels and playing others. I genuinely miss that era of Nick’s site
Man Seeing the Poop Deck flash game again takes me so back. I remember playing it religiously all the time, tho I always lost when it got down to a 1 v 1. I think probably cause I couldn't get lucky and save myself with the Spatula. There's a ton of other ones I remember too like that Camping one, this whole video was just a Nostalgia Bomb for me. Great video man, keep up the great content!
Oh my gossssh, the Nickelodeon Game Builder... That and the one Phineas and Ferb Roller Coaster creator were my earliest forays into game development! ...Granted, they were just about building levels, but still! c: (Eventually I'd get into Sploder, WarioWare D.I.Y., Scratch, and now I've learned to code and do stuff in GameMaker and Pico-8!) Glad to hear you enjoyed it as well!
Bro, you don't know how much this video brought so much nostalgia! Especially the videogame called "game builders". I actually was trying to find what the video game was called until I saw your video. A few gameplays I've done when I was a kid on my family computer kept popping into my head recently.
3:32 I remember the game simlar to this but it was inspired by Club penguin and when it's shut down there's was a light switch that's the only thing I remember about the game tbh
It’s weird because if you watch it on paramount plus it’s 2 parts witch makes sense cause it’s a special but both parts are the same thing it’s still the full special
Oh the nostalgia man. Playing these on the Mac laptops in elementary school. Well I played ones further back than 2009. There was an Atlantis Squarepantis one, a skiing game, Reef Rumble, a pizza delivery game.
I have thought about the race to goo lagoon for maybe 11-12 years now as it was always one of my favorites and was a key memory for childhood flash but I could never find it again
The gameplay for the first surfing game promoting The Big One special definitely reminds me of the Catching Waves minigame from Club Penguin. And coincidentally, I remember hearing the music from Hot Sand Hustle in one of those old Club Penguin parties.
Hey Luci, on Flashpoint, the version of Invasion of the lava king doesn't have the glitch where dying is a softlock (i think i died once to test it and it worked normally) One issue, the game is EXTREMELY zoomed out, and zooming in only gets you so far. On the plus side, you can see a lot of the map at a time.
i wish those Christmas robot's was in a Christmas ep where they can try to make everyone goes off the rails and try to take Santa place where plankton becomes Santa and the robots try to ruined everyone.
19:47 I always thought that was stupid. As long as a game is fun, people will have a reason to come back to it. Like unless it’s fair and fun, you probably shouldn’t make a game unnecessarily difficult because that would make most people avoid and not want to play it.
I don’t know if you have talked about this yet but if you haven’t you should talk about the game doodlebob and the magic pencil! It’s a fan game that I believe was released in 2008? I saw a walkthrough video a few years back and it’s a rather interesting game! :)
Will you talk about the SpongeBob Cartoon Creator in the future? The old one, where you could animate the characters? It's lost media too. I think it came out in 2009 or 2010. If you want, I could also send you a message somewhere with a photo of an old Nickelodeon magazine page that talked about it.
The lost SpongeBob game maker flash game was made during the mid season era of SpongeBob, which was the downfall of SpongeBob and that was before they brought back bubble bass

Another one of the many reasons to hate Nickelodeon/Viacom is that while they keep making SpongeBob even though it has far overstayed its welcome, they also got rid of these games that hold up for more reasons than 2000s nostalgia. I would like to make games like these (take for instance, of course) but definitely part of different franchises (sometimes those for me to make up like Mosquito Massacre, Super Mario World custom hacks from Hold Left to Win to A Hundred Levels of Pure Hell to Stupid Mario World, Frigid Firefighters and maybe even SportsBrawl, inspired by Mario Sports).
I agree. Funny, last time I was watching this series was on an airplane recently. Especially ironic, considering it was on a Delta plane, which I've heard the company refer to as "Airbuses". Planes really are just flying buses, aren't they?
Does anyone notice how Mr. Krabs wears a handkerchief in the flash games? I don’t think he wears it in the show.
@@cimengngialah2735 he wore it in Squilliam Returns
I like that detail
I've always noticed that too
I remember the Game Builder! It was weird that they announced its demise with a Lego brick or something like that.
Nickelodeon Game Builder unlocked a core memory for me.
Before I spent hours on the Super Mario Maker games, this was my jam (until its shutdown)
It was what I thought of back when Super Mario Maker 1 was first announced

Yes! We finally get Poop Deck Draw Down!!

MiXit! The old version is archived on Flashpoint, but in a buggy state. The modern version, I'm not sure.
@ADudeWithAChannel Thanks, appreciate it!
I always preferred the Cartoon Network version and play with Adventure Time characters. Now i wish i played the Nickelodeon one more

I gotta admit, Luci. Listening to your videos while playing Left 4 Dead 2 is like the greatest thing ever haha

Squidward: "heh heh heh"
SpongeBob: *_"OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH"_*
Poop Deck Draw Down geniunely feels like a Poker Night at the Inventory sequel we had all along, lol.
Oh bugger me, you mentioned it in the video, lol
Strong badington
@@ItchyBurritoMiniAltThingy lol
Ik it was so fun even if I didn’t know how to play 😂
This was my favorite game on the website to play
0:02 I thought SpongeBob was just pissing in that kid’s eyes for a second 💀💀💀
💀

16:24 and catchy background music-
An add with catchy music:
The song: Nobody move there's blood on the floor-
the music for hot sand hustle is also the music in phineas and ferb the transportinators of doom another web game i'm like equally nostalgic for
i just have to say i love this series so much. i grew up with so many of these old spongebob flash games and i actually completely forgot a lot of them existed. i keep going “YOOO HOLY SHIT I USED TO PLAY THAT ONE” and it’s bringing me great joy
I miss these games so much! 2009 was a great year for SpongeBob. I wish they still has these kind of games online
Oh my God, The Game Builder! I used to play the hell out of that when I was a kid. Until now, I completely forgot about it! I really hope someone can recover that game, I'd love to play it again!

2009, the beginning of spongebob's peak in flash games

First video of the channel and I’m amazed that you keep bringing up games you’ve already talked about?? Gonna binge on this for a while lol
A Luci upload right when I’m bout to eat? God is Good
11:06 I think I heard this in a Phineas & Ferb game.
I loved the builder! I had always remembered that it was my favorite! Thank you for talking about it
Real ones remember playing that one halloween spongebob game, where you have explosive garbage bags
This showed up in my feed so I checked to see if you covered Flip or Flop. You did in your first video about this. That was my favorite one.
Another amazing video man! I enjoy your content on these nostalgic games :D
YES FIANLLY we got to talk about the spongebob level maker!!!!
I have thought about the race to goo lagoon for maybe 11-12 years now as it was always one of my favorites and was a key memory for childhood flash but I could never find it again
I had memories of Demolition Sponge but couldn't recall its name until I saw it here.
HECK YEA MOAR 2009 GAMES :D
I love these videos
Poop deck draw down, was so fun, I remember playing that game SO MUCH, but it was so hard.
I've played Poop Deck Draw Down and I've NEVER been able to get the hang of it. 😔And for some reason, I misremembered it as Five-Hand Poker.
I remember a spongebob card game called Gone Fishing, and its a go fish type game, maybe you remember a mix of that and this?
The gameplay for the first surfing game promoting The Big One special definitely reminds me of the Catching Waves minigame from Club Penguin. And coincidentally, I remember hearing the music from Hot Sand Hustle in one of those old Club Penguin parties.
20:43 That's just the first boss from the christmas game "Deep Freeze"
Poopdeck drawdown was one of the flash games i played the most as a kid lol
Man, I played the heck out of that game builder. Heck, I miss just playing flash games on my computer. I wish I still had one…
I'm so happy you're finally talking about Poop Deck Draw Down
I love these games, I miss them sooooooo much 😢
SpongeBob flash games ALWAYS had the best music!
The burger building one was my favorite

I knew it couldn’t have been developed by any of the SpongeBob developers previously mentioned in this series
At 2009 is the year of f*cking ANGRY BIRDS.
I could've _sworn_ I played _Nickelodeon Game Builder_ once.
We’ve reached that point onward.

Poker Night at the Inventory 3

I use either Flashpoint or NuMuki. Flashpoint has to be installed but NuMuki is mostly in a browser.
