Thanks for sharing! I have been using it for 2 years now, and the battery is what concerns me the most. Soon it will just die off. Storage wise, I have to agree with you, but it's a lot compared to the iPod shuffle with just 2GB lol.
When the rumours came of an apple watch, this is what I thought of. I remembered holding this in my hand back in the apple store and it was the coolest thing compared to Sony’s walkman mp3 player at the time.
I used this ipod for AGES when i was in college. I used the radio feature to listen to the TVs at my old gym at the time. I loved being able to just shake the ipod to shuffle it any time. Loved this thing. It's stuck in bootloop now and im sure the battery is toast
I bought one of these things years ago when they were already obsolete as a way to listen to podcasts at work while I was a photographer at a dealership, really small and easy to have it clipped on to me or in my pocket and run headphones through my shirt to my ears. I still have a massive music library I could add to this but would be cool to have spotify and bluetooth I know people have modded some of the other ipod models but I think this one is probably too small to add much to it.
Thanks for sharing your experience with your iPod nano 6th gen with us! Love your story! True that the screen is just too small to mod it. 7th gen iPod nano probably has a higher chance of doing that.
I repair and mod ipods, So ive got all the proper models from 3-6 gen to mod. I recently brought a 6th and 7th gen nano, well 4 x 6 gens 16gb model. I love them at night, its perfect to listen to music and go to sleep or taking it out and about. They were so cheap, got one with a cracked screen for 15 pounds, brought a new screen and boom, the only non soldering thing you can do on it and it worked a treat. Now ive cleaned up the other 2 and the last one was mint so i dont want to use it ,like the 7th gen nano as they are both still boxed. Great lil device as only 3 times as thick as my headphone lead end. amazing
This may be a dumb question but is there any way to add bluetooth without having a whole adapter plugged in? (I know that would likely be very complex or impossible) I swear if there were a way to mod the 6th gen Nano to have BT, I wouldn't even hesitate to grab one.
I still have one of these, but haven't updated the music since about 2015. Where I still use it is in the car, when I don't want to sync my phone or listen to radio.
At the time of its release bluetooth capabilities were available, but Bluetooth headphones didn't exist. It would still be a useful device these days if it only had BT and mic, and of course, flexibility to get alternative firmwares. Wifi (and DAC) are maybe too much for this little guy, but I still dream of a reissue of this devices from nowdays apple crew. Anyway, it is lovely. I got this one and a 4th gen nano, and I prefer the oldschool round scroll for music, but is a great companion for music without distractions, also works amazing for minimal setups like aux stereo connections with a plug-plug. Maybe it wasn't ahead of its time, and it got nearly obsolete with the massive development of smart phones.. but still does its job (and still looks modern) 12 yrs later, and this means a good engineering and design work.
Well said! We got too much distractions in modern days, that’s why there’s a trend where people started to go back to using retro tech like this one. It can only be a dream as Apple won't reissue the iPod lineup. I'm too used to Spotify but from time to time I still look back at this little iPod nano.
The other day I had occasion to listen to something through a pretty nice, modern bluetooth headphones, and then immediately listen to the same thing on my Sennheiser HD650s with a proper amplifier. The difference is so massive, I cant imagine anyone preferring the wireless cans if given the oppertunity to compare directly and immeditely to nice wired cans with a nice D/A stage and amp. Its so much more detailed, highs freqs and silky smooth, unfatiguing and everything just sonuds right, the bluetooth still suffers from an additional phase of data compression, and of course the amps, while decent, must be designed to work as efficiently as possible to conserve battery life. This results in characteristics that are subtle, but noticable, especially over time, where the audio feels 'pinched' almost, restricted and processed, if I got to deal with a wire, for me, its worth it
That's true! Usually BT is transferred in SBC or AAC codec, which is limited to a low bitrate, losing a lot of the sound richness (maximum 192 kbps). But if a device is oriented to a hi-fi target it can be designed to work with better Bluetooth codecs like aptX, aptX add, LDAC, that are similar to listening to high bitrate mp3 or flac. Also, you have to consider that music platforms don't have high bitrates, or "hi-fi" premium plans; only Apple Music has implemented something like that. But also a "wired" device does not ensure high quality spectrum representation, that's the idea of the "DAC", that work like a little amplifier for premium headphones. True. That’s why I said it was the least iPod nano design ever. IMO iPod nano screen is not that big anyway. I’m okay with no video playback and camera to trade it with the clip design. It’s too convenient when you are working out/jogging etc.
I love this version of the nano 🙂 it's a pure music player and you can stick it anywhere on you with the clip. definitely worth it imo if you have a big iTunes library like I do. just started using mine again and I really like the simplicity of it 🙂
If Apple released a new nano with Bluetooth and Spotify ability. I think they would make a killing. Intentionally not having all apps. People working out want music, and not the temptation of using phone.
Thinking about getting one myself, be it with a bad battery which I have no issue replacing myself since I’m good at soldering or get a good one. 8gb is no issue, I have multiple playlists with music I’ll listen to daily. Idk I love my 7th gen Nano and Classic 5th gen a lot, might get one of these to add to my rotation of daily use. I thought about slipping my headphone cord through my long sleeve, directly to this while using it as a Watch. Damn this idea excites me, yeah think I’ll get one lol.
Happy to hear that! Soldering is a cool skill! I did that when I was in high school but I don’t have the equipment to do that now. Ya get it as that will be a cool addition to your retro Apple collection.
hey! your video inspired me to get one just today; i love it! got 8gb version, still trying to figure out some features here and there, and that leads to the question: can i sync it to my iTunes library without bricking it? my iPod touch one died after i tried to sync all my music to it, just stuck on the iTunes logo to this day, so I’m really afraid that can happen again. thanks
First of all, thanks for watching! I sync my iPod nano to iTunes all the time, never face issues like you faced before. So, you can go ahead and sync it.

pretty sure not possible, apple wants you to manage your music with a mac and listen on your nano.. This ethos has changed a little over time, but the nano is stuck with whatever apple wanted at that time. im frankly quite shocked they still work with modern macs, since apple has such a proclivity for dropping support of 'legasy' products, but thankfully, still goin.. I just bought 2 refurb nanos with brand new batteries, etc (Im a crazy person) so I can continue to use them fir the rest of my natural life. :) music is my life, what can I tell ya
I have this way back in 2012 a product red then 2017 i sold it but it is really a good condition without any dents and scratches. When i was here i the America i buy another one from the amazon,it is brand new sealed (product red 16GB) but upon unboxing the item to try, i was so dissappointed since the product could turn ON! But when i pluggged the the cable,it works perfectly! So i guess the problem is the battery. But i dont want to send it for a repair since when they open the ipod for sure it will cause a damage or scratches around it,so what i might keep it a souvenir instead.. i got it in ebay by $160 something plus tax and delivery almost $200
That’s expensive tbh, sealed iPod nano is common to have battery problems since it’s a 13 years old device. I got mine for RM250 (54 USD) second-hand (comes with seller’s Watch strap too), got scratches but the battery still can hold charges.
@@JackyYBT nice!! Actually there is a technician in ebay that can fixed it but i need to pay $45 plus i need to pay for the shipping fee back and fort. But im so skeptical, what if he wont send back my unit, then it would cause another problem to me. So nuhhh!! I will just kept it as a souvernir!!
I’ve been using iPod nano 6th gen since it was first introduced in 2010. After the latest Mac OS Sonoma update it got wiped and will no longer sync with Apple Music, hangs up when trying to perform a factory restore and if it tries to sync gives an insufficient memory error when it has more than enough free memory. What was once a nifty little device has become unusable.
My sister had it and I used to be in love with it, recently I have been doing some running and I want to listen to music but it gets really uncomfortable to go with my cellphone on me, thanks to that I remembered this beautiful little nugget I saw a good deal on the net and I think im gonna get it
Actually there is but you have to get a Bluetooth adapter for the iPod nano 6th gen. Or if you don’t want the hassle, you can go for the 7th gen iPod nano.
Thank you for being patient. If you're having trouble transferring music from your iPod Nano 6th gen to your laptop, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially solve the problem: 1. Use iTunes: Connect your iPod Nano to your laptop using a USB cable and open iTunes (if you don't have iTunes installed, download and install it first). Once connected, your iPod should appear in the iTunes sidebar or under "Devices." You should be able to access the music on your iPod through iTunes and transfer it to your laptop's iTunes library. 2. Enable Disk Use: On your iPod Nano, go to Settings > USB Mode and select "Disk Use." This will allow your iPod to appear as an external storage device on your laptop, and you may be able to manually transfer music files from the iPod to your laptop's hard drive. 3. Third-Party Software: There are third-party software programs available that can help you transfer music from your iPod to your computer. Example: iMyFone TunesMate (Windows): imyfone.pxf.io/c/3778375/947344/12696 (Mac): imyfone.pxf.io/c/3778375/947345/12696 Download and install this program on your laptop, connect your iPod Nano, and follow the instructions to transfer your music. 4. Check Compatibility: Ensure that your iPod Nano is compatible with your laptop's operating system. Sometimes, older iPod models may not be fully compatible with newer versions of operating systems, which can cause issues with transferring files. 5. Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Try restarting both your iPod Nano and your laptop, then attempt the transfer again. 6. Check for Updates: Make sure that both iTunes and your laptop's operating system are up to date. Updates may include bug fixes and improvements that could help resolve any compatibility issues. 7. Contact Support: If you've tried the above steps and are still unable to transfer your music, consider contacting Apple Support or seeking assistance from a tech-savvy friend or professional for further help. By following these steps, you should be able to transfer the music from your iPod Nano to your laptop successfully. If you encounter any specific error messages or issues along the way, be sure to note them down as they may provide clues to the underlying problem.
Bought this 2 days ago after wanting it for 10 years, a timeless relic the albums and playlist in it is so amazing something that all these bs smartwatches lack and most of them need phone to use music(complete joke)
Yes, you can download audiobooks for the iPod nano 6th generation. You'll need to use iTunes on your computer to sync the audiobooks to your iPod nano. Just make sure the audiobooks are in a compatible format (such as AAC or MP3) and follow the instructions for syncing in iTunes.
Is there a way to listen to this with bluetooth? Ik you can use bluetooth transmitters but they’re kinda expensive. Maybe there isn’t lol but I was just wondering.
@@JackyYBT eh thats alright then, the main reason I wanted an iPod was because I wanted to listen to music while in school, but they banned phones and wireless headphones.
nevermind after looking hard on ebay i found some used ones in good shape for only 60$. it even came with a charger with a brick and headphones. and im from usa az
So I bought one with music on it, and a classic 80GB with music. Was on a Mac before. Can I download the music to my PC? I had old software on my old Vista PC, but I don't know where it is.
You don't need to reformat your iPod Classic to add music from a Mac-formatted iPod to a Windows PC. Here's what you can do: 1. Connect your iPod Classic to your Windows PC using a USB cable. 2. On your Windows PC, open iTunes if you have it installed. If not, you can download and install iTunes from the Apple website. 3. After connecting your iPod Classic, it should appear in the iTunes sidebar or as a device icon in the top-left corner of the iTunes window. 4. If prompted, choose to "Trust" the computer on your iPod Classic's screen. 5. In iTunes, click on your iPod Classic to access its settings and summary page. 6. Under the "Options" section, make sure the option "Enable disk use" or "Manually manage music and videos" is checked. 7. Now you can go to your Windows PC's File Explorer and open your iPod Classic as a removable storage device. You should be able to see its content, including the "Music" folder. 8. Locate the music files you want to add to your iPod Classic on your Windows PC. You can copy and paste or drag and drop the music files directly into the "Music" folder on your iPod Classic. 9. Safely eject your iPod Classic from your Windows PC. 10. Disconnect your iPod Classic from the USB cable. 11. On your iPod Classic, navigate to the "Music" section to access and play the newly added music. By following these steps, you can add music from your Windows PC to your Mac-formatted iPod Classic without the need for reformatting.
theres also a handy little util that some nice folks made called "senuti" that allows you to copy the contents of an ipod that is not syced to your machine - copy the stuff off first, add to your library, then sync to the ipod once your sure you got everything off there

Ya, especially streaming music services prices keep increasing. It may not be as convenient for adding your music compare to streaming music but you save a lot of money in the long run.
The 6th gen ipod nano is the still, the worlds best portable music player for serious audiophles and people that care more about music than convenience. Why? Ill tell ya. Phones, suck. Nobody wants to run with a goddamn heavy, enormous glowing square on their arm. I dont stream, I dont want to stream, the shit I like isnt on streaming platforms,. wireless audio, SUCKS. Wireless audio will always suck. I dont have to charge my headphones, i just plug them in, and they go forever. and they sound amazing, lossless. fully unstressed amplification. and theye light. so they dont fall out my ears when I run. dont like the cable? simple, run it down the neck of your shirt, clip to your shorts or whatever. Battery lasts FOREVER. can shuttle through long files, the only thing I listen to (DJ Mixes) Ive had every modern solution. Apply watch ultra, every wireless headphone imagable. ALL GARBAGE the stupid watch wont sync EVER, bluetooth, more like POOTOOTH!! totally spotty and unreliable. Its a miracle every time the stars would align and all three things would work and be charged when it comes time to run. Dont habve time for that shit, when I need it, I need it to WORK. nothing compares to the 6th gen and a nice pair of headphones. Can not belive nobody makes a modern solution for people serious about their music.
Actually Sony is still making Walkman nowadays. The only well known that I know that still care about music. Sounds awesome but it’s bulky compared to iPod nano 6th gen. Also pricey too.
True dat, theres a couple of high end mfgrs now, BUT nothing comes close to the size and functioinality (its got a clip!!) of the nano..Also if you like DJ mixes as I do, for whatever reason ipod os is the only one that gets that people might want to listen to sometinng thats more than 5 minsn long and the only ones that get fast forwarding / shuttling to a precise area of a long file. With the others if you fat finger the FF button youre back to square 1 and gotta hold it down for like 2 mins to get back to where you want. frustrating!! Could there really be this few people that care about this kind of thing?I guess so :/ lol. Cheers! @@JackyYBT

Been using a 7th gen classic for a couple weeks now have one of these laying around might get a new battery put in and use it as a back up device
7th gen is a good device, only one downside for me is Apple remove the clip.
It was a step backwards when it came out though. No video playback
True. That’s why I said it was the least iPod nano design ever. IMO iPod nano screen is not that big anyway. I’m okay with no video playback and camera to trade it with the clip design. It’s too convenient when you are working out/jogging etc.
I love this version of the nano 🙂 it's a pure music player and you can stick it anywhere on you with the clip. definitely worth it imo if you have a big iTunes library like I do. just started using mine again and I really like the simplicity of it 🙂
I would say the clip is the biggest selling point for me too! Love seeing comments like this that people start to use old gadgets again!
I just found mine again but the battery is dead. Ordered a new one I want to get it working again.
Wishing you the best of luck with your DIY repairs! 👍
I love everything of this nano, except the stupid power button (sleep/wake) got stuck, and heard its been an issue for other users as well.
Ya you’re right on that, it is a common issue. Thank God that I never had to experience that, at least for now.
If Apple released a new nano with Bluetooth and Spotify ability. I think they would make a killing. Intentionally not having all apps. People working out want music, and not the temptation of using phone.
That will be all the iPod fan's wet dream!
really good video love it thanks
Thank you for your kind words!
@@JackyYBT thanks a lot! i got all kanye albums on it like 2 hours ago, this ipod is the best one I’ve ever used! do you know where can i download free mo3 with album covers? it’s lowkey important to me to have covers
I just search album art on google images.
Hey ! Great video ! Do you know how can i connect mine to an iPad Pro ? (I know the cable, but I’m talking about how to transfert music to it). I can’t find it on my iPad.
You mean iPod nano connect to iPad Pro? I don’t think you can do that, just connect it to your computer and use iTunes to transfer music.
pretty sure not possible, apple wants you to manage your music with a mac and listen on your nano..
These look cool. I might have to get one!
Yup it’s cool indeed, you will be the few people that will wear it nowadays.
It’s not the best iPod Nano by a long shot, but it’s perhaps the coolest! I enjoy mine. Not as often as my Nano 5, though.
I just brought mine how do I transfer songs into my iPod nano 6

Darn it! I guess windows is the way to go now. I have no problem syncing it with iTunes on my windows 11 PC
From where can i buy it
eBay, Amazon, Alibaba, Facebook Marketplace, Carousell (If you are from Southeast Asia) etc.
My sister had it and I used to be in love with it, recently I have been doing some running and I want to listen to music but it gets really uncomfortable to go with my cellphone on me, thanks to that I remembered this beautiful little nugget I saw a good deal on the net and I think im gonna get it
Ya I feel you, sometimes you feel free without always having your phone with you.
mine got stolen in school, still got the band tho
Sorry to hear that
Oh my, that sucks!
Can you please make a video for how to remove current music & download new music onto this device? I am trying to do it right now with no luck!
How To Put Music on My Old Apple Devices In 2023?
ruclips.net/video/olln2e6M27A/видео.html
As for how to remove current music, you just have to delete the music that you don’t want on your iTunes and re-sync it. Very simple.
Fantastic video!
Thank you for your kind words!
does this support rockbox?
Nope
It’s so cute and simple, I wish there was a way to get around the Bluetooth
Actually there is but you have to get a Bluetooth adapter for the iPod nano 6th gen. Or if you don’t want the hassle, you can go for the 7th gen iPod nano.
I’m going to get an adapter! I’ll dig up my little pink & green ones from ‘10. Like you said the design just timeless
Nice, have a blast with it!
I recently found my old one with a bunch of music that I lost, but I can't seem to transfer it to my laptop. ☹
Thank you for being patient. If you're having trouble transferring music from your iPod Nano 6th gen to your laptop, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially solve the problem:
Example: iMyFone TunesMate (Windows): imyfone.pxf.io/c/3778375/947344/12696
(Mac): imyfone.pxf.io/c/3778375/947345/12696
Download and install this program on your laptop, connect your iPod Nano, and follow the instructions to transfer your music.
Welcome to the cool kids club!
can you download audiobooks to this model of ipod? Thanks!
@@JackyYBT ace, thank you so much
@@rachelporter9317 Thanks for watching, remember to share this video!
Can you adjust sound balance?
You can adjust the volume. I don’t think there is a built in equaliser.
Is there a way to listen to this with bluetooth? Ik you can use bluetooth transmitters but they’re kinda expensive. Maybe there isn’t lol but I was just wondering.
Get the iPod nano 7th generation then 😂 Joke aside, unfortunately that’s the only way to get Bluetooth on iPod nano 6th generation.
@@JackyYBT eh thats alright then, the main reason I wanted an iPod was because I wanted to listen to music while in school, but they banned phones and wireless headphones.

Have 2 nano 6th... problem , no bluetooth... all bluetooth support stuff on the market unfortunately are shit...
If you want Bluetooth and nano then you have to go for the 7th gen Nano. That’s the only iPod nano that has Bluetooth.
Here's what you can do:

I have a new th6 ipod I never use it 😅 back to 2010 I thought it a watch
Haha you are not alone for thinking like that
The 6th gen ipod nano is the still, the worlds best portable music player for serious audiophles and people that care more about music than convenience.
Cheers!
