This is a full in-depth overview of the functions and construction of the new Aegis FMG9 airsoft kit.
Aegis is a Korean airsoft company that recently released and excellently made reproduction of the Magpul FMG9, as a kit which can take Tokyo Marui, WE, and VFC G-series slides to complete a fully functional airsoft gun.
The FMG9 was previously released at one point as an airsoft gun by KWA, but it has been out of production for many years and the value of those old versions has gone up quite a bit. This new kit is likely to fill a hole in many collections for people who either just want a handy collapsible airsoft carbine, or those who want to recreate the videogames where the FMG9 was a popular weapon of choice.

Some notes:
I misspoke at 00:46 and didn't catch until after uploading; I meant to say any "any airsoft Glocks". The old FMG kit was also internally based on KWA Glock series airsoft pistols.
To emphasize 04:30, you're really supposed to take off the front sight. I just left it on because I wanted to show a reciprocating charging handle in the intro haha.

Yep that's one of the upsides. Here in Taiwan some people are getting theirs custom laser cut to have the Magpul markings in appropriate places as well; you can def make a very accurate replica with this.

The silver screw is for mounting the trigger housing, and you are supposed to use the stock screw for the rear sight filler

Great video! Still waiting for your install video as these recently got restocked. The first batch had issues with installing it with VFC Glock 18c and only the WE version fit properly. AirSix also showed an issue with the pin in the grip locking the hammer assembly into place and you had to get a modified pin and e clip from the manufacturer.
Yeah was putting off the install vid until they restocked, then they went and restocked with basically no fanfare insofar as I can tell so I couldn't time it haha. It's on the list, got a few vids I owe people first.
You can get a Umarex glock threaded inner barrel and a 14mm barrel extension to extend the outer barrel out of the front of the gun to add a tracer. In case you don't want to heavily modify your gun. Also recommend extending the inner barrel of you do it this way as well.
Edit: This is only for Umarex versions of the glock 18c/17 gen 3. Not for Tokyo Marui. I'm sure TM has after market threaded barrels though so should be fine.

Would the aegis custom accept aftermarket slides? For example, tm g18 metal gaurder slide?
Missed out on those previously made by KWA...Not this time. Who makes the better Glock for these? TM / ARMY / WE / UMAREX (VFC). Was thinking on the Tokyo Marui G18C GBB.
Looks like a dead copy of my Magpul one. I wonder if they're going to come out with the correct barrel for it. Nice to see it's TM. Mine is KWC (Tiawan KWA) and the trigger group, selector, and sear set are notoriously weak so I barely use the thing
Nice thing about this is that the hammer internals et al are from the donor gun, so it's futureproof and can swap out with TM/WE/VFC
@@GaosenKinetics exactly. Upgrades are available easily. I'm still collecting parts to make my Magpul one reliable... KWC G18C upgrades are few and far between lol
What if they sold a small fitment kit for the aap01?? Also can you link us where to get in Taiwan?
The issue there would be that the charging handle wouldn't work in that case. Also would need to be significantly different in a number of dimension, so probably beyond what you could do with a basic kit.
A similarly *styled* kit for the AAP01 would be very nice though, but again, like with this one, to get good build quality it could cost a bit, and would need to compete with all the 3D print kits for the AAP01, which are easier to implement because there's no large reciprocating slide.

I just picked one up on sale for £110 💪
Just got mine and after 20 mins of looking for the selector pin after I dropped it, got it put together. Only thing now is as soon as I pull the trigger, it vents gas and isn’t cycling. Going to try and reinstall the trigger and test the slide on another lower to see where the issue is
That should be more an issue of your hammer group setup; the kit itself mostly just adds the rails. An issue of venting like that *should* be from the hammer group, unless there's rail tightness that's preventing the slide from moving properly.
@@GaosenKinetics well it turns out my nozzle return spring was like halfway out so just popped that sucker back and its fine! :D

I don't have an Umarex G18 myself, but I've been told it doesn't work; apparently one of the HK shops tried and had issues. Seems odd to me since you'd think that would be one of the main ones they want on, so I'll be investigating more.

You could get that screw in the back with one of them Allen shaped screwdrivers that comes with Chinese furniture and such
Ah yes an excellent point! But, I actually forgot to mention in the video, the screw hole for the WE hammer group I have doesn’t line up; not sure which hammer group exactly it fits, but it seems a WE G17 Gen3 doesn’t work. It’s fine as it functions well enough. I saw the screw hole didn’t line up and stopped worrying about, but you’re right that whatever one does line up could be done with a L shaped tool.
@@GaosenKinetics should try a G18C one. I know a TM hammer group fits in my WE perfectly. So I'm assuming the G17 is different

Of those, I TMC is sold out, Eagle I don’t know about, Octagon I think may not be the Aegis kit but their own pending kit which is cheaper but don’t know the quality of.
Try messaging lfj-com-tw (replace dash with dots); they may have stock and can send non-gun items overseas.
If I did airsoft with that, I'd literally have it in the folded configuration and with a suit on. When I saw the other team I'd get it in the shooting configuration and light em up. 😅 jk I'd totally get wrecked before I had the chance but it is cool.
i think you should remove the front sight, that thing's gonna cause a lot of stress on the parts

You nuke those Made in Taiwan markings off yet?
Yep, a quick scrub with Naptha and it came right off with seemingly no damage to the nylon. Apparently the formula of naptha can vary a bit so may need to be cautious, but it's worked for me.
but have you seen the guy that took this chassis and got a real glock 17 working out of it?
