    Anand's last answer might seem a little harsh, but how does that journalist not get that ''doing your best'' is the only thing Vishy can reply here. What was he expecting? His entire strategy to beat the guy sitting right next to him?

    • @rahulkhanna8370

      hipperdeskip no actually He(journalist) meant That he gave his best today(This game) as well so u will give ur best next time then U will lose.He was not asking his Strategy

    Considering the historical importance of the post-game interviews, I'm surprised that FIDE isn't screening questions beforehand.

  • @dkblade27

    Anand was upset because he was asked the same question 3 times. On the first time, he was already upset to answer but composed himself to answer politely, "Just move on".
    Obviously losing two in a row, he was disappointed and upset. The third time is when it sort of erupted a little on Anand. Can't really blame him due to the wrong timing and pestering by the journalist again.

    I think those journalists really should have given Vishy a break with the "what will you do now", questions at the end. He was visibly shaken and disappointed, no need to rub it in.

    Unbelievable result. Carlsen managed to squeeze a victory out of nothing. Must be such a grueling torture to play against him. I hope Anand comes back and keep the match interesting and give us some good fighting chess.

    Vishy its a nice person, surely later he will somewhat regret, but yes, why ask him the same question over and over again and in the heat of the moment. Maybe now we will start to see really more aggresive play.

  • @reasonableman007

    Anand is clearly visibly upset after the match and had already mentioned he can only do his best in the future games... to which the same journalist asks again "What do you mean by doing your best?? can you elaborate... eh I know you've been obv doing your best fr earlier matches". I think the tone and tenor of the question was not well intentioned.. it seemed as though he was trying to rub it in and upset him more... was he expecting future strategy at a press conference??? in any case it was a stupid question which deserved a befitting answer... Also I'm beginning to think there needs to be an Minimum IQ check for the journalists at the press conference... One of them asked Carlson after the 3rd/4th match.... "Have you met Vishwanathan Anand today???!!!" that was the first time Carlson seemed puzzled.

    Beautiful chess play from both of them...its like watching music....Needless to say Anand, like many world class champions, is a great positional player not to be underestimated, Carlsen knows this, Carlsen is a think tank, very patient, he has a way of keeping things solid, at the right moment he turns to flexiblity and mobility to utilize the most powerful solutions especially in the end game. Truly Carlsen is another Capablanca. I am not worried, Anand will pick it up.

    I don't think it was Anand being sore or offensive. He is obviously upset, but the question the reporter fielded him was absolutely tactless and inane. Why would he discuss his plans in front of Magnus Carlsen? Badgering Anand wasn't the answer to that previous question of his.

  • @peristiloperis7789
    @peristiloperis7789 11 лет назад +9

    Sacs tend not to work well against chess engines. Against Carlsen is 100% a bad strategy. He will pick up all the material you give him and play a long sequence of engine-like moves. Anand should learn this lesson and stop giving up material like that.

    I feel sorry for the players in these press conferences. It's difficult to analyse the game properly in front of each other. In most sports they would be interviewed separately. Also maybe they should have a little time to rest and reflect.

    Anand likes sacrificing pieces for better positions. And we saw in both the games before, how magnus really made anand pay for that extra pawn. On the other side, Anand shouldnt have talked rashly at the reporter.

    • @styx85
      @styx85 11 лет назад +6

      It was completely deserved. Why pester Anand for answers to the same question over and over again when he's made it painfully obvious that he's not going to answer? Anand can't be expected to put up with such tactlessness forever, especially considering the pressure and mental strain he's under.

    • @t0lkien1
      @t0lkien1 11 лет назад +2

      The reporter was being an arrogant Magnus fanboi, and rubbing Anand's face in his loss (he wasn't trying to get a genuine answer; Vishy had already answered the same pointless question twice. It was a low moment of nasty ungraciousness from a partisan press. The journalist has tweeted that he considered it a fair question i.e. he's defending his bad behaviour. His name is Ole Rolfsru and he should be ashamed. I hope the international community censures him. At the very least it marks him as a poor journalist.

    Playing chess is interesting but can leave a tremendous psychological effect especially if your in the side of loosing which sometimes there's a way of winning or just to end it draw. Now its obviously GM Anand suffering and we can see the result after loosing 2 straight and four draw to Super GM whiz Kid Magnus Carlsen. He really proves his the Next Chess World Champion. Congrats in the future!

    It's official- Anand has taken lessons from Belichek (Patriots coach). He could at least be more gracious and give more than a 1-3 word answer. Also the aicofficial channel gets a big fat thumbs down,The feed goes out(technical difficulties) and now suddenly you can only watch live.You can not start at the beginning like any RUclips video.Sorry I'm not getting up at 2:30 AM. How do you screw up such a big event in your own country?

      Its not about the number of words. All he can do now is only do his best. May be the reporter should have been more gracious and asked a more sensible question to a man who has just blundered and lost.

    • @arnoldlayne1986

      Every sportsman feel frustration when he/she/the team has lost. The difference is that some can keep their emotions to them self in a press conference and not offend the journalists by making snide remarks. But I don't blame Anand for his responses, he is just so frustrated after his lost game so he simply can't hold him self together. But the journalists are just doing their job so you can't expect them to be tip toeing with their questions for the losing player.

    • @styx85
      @styx85 11 лет назад +4

      arnoldlayne1986
      No, the questions were completely moronic, especially the last one. Part of being a journalist is coming up with *productive* questions, and if you haven't got anything worthwhile to ask you're better off keeping your mouth closed. Especially when the person you're interviewing is getting annoyed with the repetitive questions, as was blatantly obvious in this case.
      I place all the blame on the journalists here. Anand shouldn't be expected to put up with that sort of idiocy forever.

    • @steveorc6920
      @steveorc6920 11 лет назад

      Its about being a good sport especially when you lose. He asked again because he won't ever answer a question. He is a 5 time world champion-act like it. Also if it wasn't for "amateur" players there would not any chess you moron. Whats your rating? High relative to what?

    • @styx85
      @styx85 11 лет назад +2

      Steve Orc He was being a perfectly good sport in the beginning of the press conference, before all the inane questions.
      He answered the questions to be best of his abilities. What did you expect him to say? Should he have told everyone his strategy for the next game? He's not interested in sharing anything more about his preparations for the next game, and that's his prerogative. The journalists should respect that.

  • @AsankaSira1
    @AsankaSira1 11 лет назад +1

    Well, I too believe Anand was put up under a lot of pressure by those journalists, who does not have a clear insight on the game. It was a tense situation where he lost two games in a row. These type questions by Indian journalist, would shake Anand confidence and have him psychologically down, making him more vulnerable in next 6 games.
    They should actually boost his morals instead of letting it down for better winning chances for Anand. Clearly asking about Sachin's retirement on his most important match, stating the it was a sad for India made him more upset.
    Personally I am fan of Magnus Calrsen, yet I reckon hosting championship in his own soil will worsen Anand chances as the pressure being exerted on him own people, given the Indian mind set how they react after a loss in any sport,

  • @tzkro

    anand can only blame himself.since the start of the tournament he kept playing each game for a draw..absolutely killed the game.

    Gee, Anand isn't prepared to say more than eight words for any answer, he's certainly very shaken. The first four games I thought really were more or less even and no one "escaped" with a draw, but this loss in particular and the spectacular nature of losing a drawn position on top of losing with white surely makes this now too tough

    Psychologically, it's a good sign that Anand is upset. It's the way Carlsen wins, though, too. He invites you to beat yourself. His version of the win is a sort of non-drawish, and very admirable, for sure. Anand is the only person that can talk himself out of finding great moves, it seems, though. He says he sees them in every press conference. I think, I hope he bounces back, so, at least, this WC is still entertaining.

    I feel sorry for Anand at these press conferences: it must be the last thing he wants to do hence his getting irked with the last reporter (who was a tit it has to be said). I think we'll see the nice gracious Anand at the last press conference when he doesn't have to prepare for the Carlsen onslaught the following day. At the moment he's got intense pressure heaped upon him as India's world champion. He's definitely not a bad loser though. I remember his coming out to a press conference after a bad loss and he was laughing and told everyone he "played like a wally". That's a good guy in my book!

    It shows you how these Chess players can suddenly change and become arrogant and annoying after such a loss. Many blame Kasparov for being annoying at times but looking at Anand there he's not much better at all if not worse. I hate bad losers.

      ***** All the reporters should be kicked out I don't like them but I don't like it when a world champion starts acting childish like that ..he wasn't answering any questions and was being rude that's not behaviour I expect from a world champion. You can get angry all you want at a loss its natural of course but not to the extent of disrespecting others.

    • @styx85
      @styx85 11 лет назад +3

      KingQuraish
      He wasn't answering any questions because he was being asked unanswerable questions. To answer them properly he would have to reveal his strategy, which would of course hurt his chances to win. He didn't disrespect anyone who didn't disrespect him first.
      And he didn't act like a child, he acted like a human. Considering the immense pressure Anand is under, the ridiculous mental effort he has put forth over the last hours and days, and the utter idiocy he had to put up with during the press conference, I honestly don't think there are many people in the world who would have handled it any better.

    • @Andalus710

I really wonder why they do not have someone more graceful to supervise a press conference of the world chess championship. Which in itself seems not a good idea to be held between the games, at least in this scrutinizing and primitive manner, that the people asking questions showed there. It is very respectless to try to shake and insecure a player in this way. This is not a soccer game, but one of the mind..
