Sounds like this is a result of trauma and horrific childhood events. I personally know of another sibling couple who fled from Syria during war and made it to America. It's not just in Congo but in other parts of the world too even though the cases of incests is not something people talk about it openly. In some parts of India and Pakistan mostly cousins get married and have a family. The thing with such reunion is that there's high chance of having disabled children due to having same DNA

Women are not firm willed?? (Maybe you should ask my husband what he thinks about that!) The reason incest is taboo is the higher risk that bad recessive genes will be passed to the children. But the risk is less than people think. Their children look healthy. As long as they do not marry close relatives themselves, they and their families should be fine. There is no higher risk passed on to later generations.

This is crazy, but I think it's the brothers fault. He probably pressured her into this incestuous relationship. He did say that she listened to what he said because " he is older than her." He prayed on her and her vulnerability.
