@@DaniDo I see many reviewers using a new gadget and coming back after few months making another video with title - "Am I going back to Sony again?" . One key thing to remember is - if you are not able to use your current gear to make something meaningful and if you are not satisfied, you wont get the satisfaction ever. I have all three eco-systems and heavily involved in all of them. Sometime I feel it's hampering my creative end and making a more tech-centric person, which I never wanted to be. packed my 2 mirrors systems and only using Sony systems and finally realized I was not missing anything. its you who can make things happen, not a 2 MP more in any other camera or 0.5% better auto focus. trust yourself and you will find that the gadgets are absolute. learn the art of photography and not be a tech dependent person.
A7Siii and FX have more dr and it's not exactly within a stop. We are talking half to a third of the sensitivity and I don't mean low light. I mean cine d lab test results. N-raw drops dr just below 11 too, once you lose nr. To be fair the same thing happens with the a7siii and fx when shooting ProRes RAW, but you dr in RAW is still on par with the pocket 6k and bmcc 6k, (scored the same...no dr boost,) in the mid to high 11s. However, bm is cheating still with nr. Take that out and they may drop below 11 as well. ProRes Raw is real raw so no nr. That also means you lose a stop of dr since that is what is helping to boost dr so much on lab tests with the a7siii and fx. In xavc the a7sii and fx lab tests the dr to match the burano actually...within points. RAW is a different story though. Really, the reliance on nr for dr test results is kinda cheating. You can't bring up the shadows the same once nr has been applied. By having equal dr w/o needing nr you actually have way more latitude and no leftover artifacts from the process. Cleaner more professional footage. Anyways, Nikon has the same problems as the Sonys I'm discussing, just with a stop less of dynamic range. It's great that the RAW is internal, but is 12 bit linear good enough? I thought 12 bit log was for a reason, but you have to record 16 bit, then pack it into log, which then unpacks back into 16 bit when it's in an NLE. BM, Arri, Atomos, when fed 16 bits all do this I think, (not sure how ATOMOS does a log...footage looks like 12bit linear...even on The Creator.) I sometimes wonder if a properly set 12 bit linear for the camera, may be superior than 12 bit log, that is less of a custom set up through a device like Atomos. That's kinda of what I'm getting at when I'm asking about the new 12 bit linear internal RAW. How is it compared to Atomos footage? Nikon shooters are probably the best to ask right now.
Danny, the new Sony's have a photo/video switch (ie. A7RV). TBH, I think the z6iii might be a better fit for you. One thing to note: there is a a number of adapters for using Sony e-mount lenses on Nikon bodies.
Omg seems like I'm living under a rock, didn't know the A7RV has such a button, that's actually also more a photo camera. Yeah I just saw the release of the Z6III, that's definitely something which is much more comaprable to the Sony systems I have. Gotta look into these adapters as well, sounds pretty neat though
@@DaniDo FYI the A7IV, A7Cii, ZV-E1….all of the new Sony’s have the photo/video switch. Plus the custom dial can be set for 3 modes in photo & 3 modes in video.

Been with Nikon since 1967, lately if I could change to something else I would. Nikon service will let you down they did me. 2 times I had to go to a mom and pop to get my Nikon fixed.
If you need a flippy screen look at the Z6III. It's cheaper/smaller/lighter than the Z8 but has most of the video modes of it's big brother (though is only 24MP). And the Z6III EVF is best in the industry...at any price.
Thanks for the recommendation! I actually requested the Z8 and then two weeks into it or so the Z6III just got released. That's definitely a camera that would suit my needs for sure
Hey yes I actually did though, I watched a ton of Nikon settings videos and also changed the screen brightness. I mean filming in direct sunlight is hard with every camera, but I probably gotta test it side by side once again
Yes that's definitely true, I was overwhelmed by how the camera operates at first, but when I get used to it a little bit more it was defintitely much easier to use

can you do low-light videography review for the z8 and the z6iii there aren't many videos on RUclips on lowlight performance for both cameras

Well I did my research and it turned out hat the second native ISO for video shooting in N-Log is at 4000
