It should be noted that the Adult Jubilee is voiced by The OG Voice Actress so it's nice having them talk to The New Voice / Younger Jubilee in that Scene ✨
And the voice actor for Older Jubilee, Alyson Court, was the voice director for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Which is appropriate considering that show, like this episode, is a love letter to video games.
For those who do not know about Abby Trott (Spiral), here are some her roles: Tae Takemi from Persona 5 Royal Nezuko from Demon Slayer Singer of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate theme Young Chiyoko from Millenium Actress Yoh from Shaman King remake And many more!
I’m a recent new watcher of these guys, and I am a recent fan of X-Men too. I might sound silly, but is he talking about how the VA is actually his GF?
I'm new to this channel and had no idea either, so I just assumed it was the same as when people jokingly refer to their celebrity crush as their future wife/husband or whatever
Also a culturally competent touch having Forge's foe, the adversary, take the form of the owl... I thought that them seeing an owl fly around in broad day could be a bad omen... It had me wondering if the show's writers knew that many indigenous tribes see looking at owls, and especially into an owl's eyes, as bad luck; it was... And it looks like they knew!
im 5 months late but idk if anyone noticed but actually in the scene where she gets shot, it pans up to the sky and you see a black bird fly overhead. its spooky looking back on it
I think that was more of a reference to Dazzler being one the playable characters in the old x-men arcade game. Also, Dazzler use to date Longshot, so it could be referencing that as well.
@@onyx081 Also Dazzler (or someone who looks a lot like her) appeared in the original Mojovision episode of the 90s show as part of Longshot's makeup team, even though that doesn't make any sense with her later appearances, so it could be referencing that
Well, I'm just finding out that Hector's GF is the freakin' VA Abby Trott! And Alyson Court pretyy much sounds exactly the same 30 years after being Jubilee and the OG Claire Redfield.
Does anyone who reads the comics back the day had a smile on their face when a mad jubilee impersonates Magneto the way Kitty impersonates Professor X calling him a jerk.
Notably, the X-men arcade cabinet their referring to was based-off the original X-men animated cartoon pilot (not picked-up) from the 80s called Pryde of the X-men; I believe, was a major reason it was released coincidentally with the start of the new, picked-up, X-men animated cartoon!
This was another great episode! I loved seeing the beginning of the "LifeDeath" story for Strom and I can't wait for part 2 of this mini-arc! I can already tell this emotional character exploration of Storm is going to be one of my favorite mini arcs in the entire X-Men animated series franchise by the time part 2 completes the story. The "Motendo" stuff was also super fun and creative! Revisiting some of the greatest highlights from this iteration of the X-Men in 16-Bit from like an old X-Men arcade game spotlighting their greatest moments was super cool and fun! I also loved having a Jubilee episode because she's one of my personal favorite members of the X-Men! Having it be her birthday was also a really nice way to explore how far she's come since episode 1 of the original series! I'm also really starting to warm up to Roberto. It's been nice to see the world of the X-Men through his eyes as a newcomer to this family. 👀🎆 Overall, X-Men 97 continues to be my favorite thing Marvel has made on Disney Plus! 8/10 episode this week! 🙌🏽🌟✨️
The Marvel Vs Capcom 1 and 2 style animation made me feel like I was a kid again in the 90’s. I hope Capcom makes a new MVC game someday, and have an option to use this animation style! And have Jubilee be this awesome in the game.
Yo, this is basically an issue of Marvel Comics Presents, back when they would have like 2-4 8 page stories in each issue. I can’t wait to see what they try next. I just wanted to hear Magneto say “I am Magneto, master of magnet!!” or “X-Men, welcome to die!!”
I love the ending of this episode, it brings me back to the 90s and you either saw the episode or had to wait for a rerun. Waiting a week is too much for this soft generation, you have no idea what it was like to have a season end on a cliffhanger and have to wait a whole year to finish the story
Incredible Hector!!!! Been watching your appearances since you popped-up on Collider Heroes with Schnepp (RIP our King of Sweaties); so amazingly hyped and astounded that your partner and girlfriend is performing Spiral!!! Great character and her performance in this episode was seamless!!! She sounded and expressed even better than Spiral’s originals appearances; More Spiral!!!!! Fingers crossed!
Its been said before but cant be said enough, the Writting on this show is awesome. Especially when your voice cast are seasoned vets who know their characters
The arcade game was based on an earlier animated X-Men movie, which featured Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colousus, Dazzler and Kitty Pride (the first six characters were playable). Spent a fortune on that game and the Doctor Who pinball machine at TimeZone.
After the 3 episode of high-octane action and drama, I appreciate the chill, fun, and "nerdstolgic" change for a mostly Jubilee episode. I wanted more of Lifedeath though, lol. Based on the episode list were ramping right back up in episode 5.
The X-Men arcade game is actually based on the animated pilot for X-Men called Pryde of the X-Men. they also make a reference to the fact Dazzler is in it. Was hoping to hear Magneto say "Welcome to DIE!"
In general, it has been a very well-run episode to enter the jubilee. Because she has not been so recognized and in this episode she gave us the best that a character shows if she handles it and writes it with a lot of genius and heart. And Roberto and his race, I would love for them to continue seeing each other even more. And giving this guidance to continue with the classic comics stories. With storm it makes you feel reliving the time of the arc that we would see and it makes me happy, because I like storm. And when he went to start a relationship with his self-discovery.
So his character is supposed to be native adjacent I assume with a mention of Bison chili and the moment he said it was herbs in the chili I knew she was going to take a psychedelic trip of self-discovery and anything after that was the trip lol so I wasn't shocked when a giant owl came
"The Adversary" was an entire storyline, the climax of which Storm gets her powers back and reunites with the team to destroy him. That starts a whole new era of the X-Men, the first story introducing Jubilee.
Hector, x-men: the art and making of the animated series book confirms that Jubilee was 13 at the start of the series, Night of the sentinels, and in season 3 episode longshot, Jubilee slips up and confirms she is 15 years old by that point. It's the reason why Rogue can directly relate to Jubilee cuz she discovered her powers at that same age after she kissed cody.
Best moment of laughter at 8:45. I just subscribed to this wonderful growing RUclips channel. By far this episode is the best one I have seen. I’ll try to watch X-Men ‘97 sometime soon. Either way, congrats🎉

Yeah, it caught me off guard. One of my criticisms towards the OG series is that we needed more eccentric villains like Mojo. Season 2 is my favorite season partly because of Mojo's episode, along with "A Rogue's Tale" and many others.
The X Men 92 Arcade was influenced heavily by the X Men 89 Pyrde of the X Men Cartoon. Funny enough that this episode clearly took influences heavily from both the arcade game and the Sega Genesis 93 X Men game which was influenced by the 92 show. Very Meta. Also mature cyber punk Jubilee rocks. Take note Marvel Comics!
Everyone seems to be so confused by this episode having two different storylines in halves, but I don't understand why. It's how virtually all shows work, an A Plot and a B Plot, interspersed. Only instead of doing the usual A/B/A/B seperation, they kept each element intact to eliminate tonal whiplash.
When the "game" scenes were shown and it looked like the old Simpsons and X-Men arcade games....I split a wide, cheesy grin. I love this show. Also, pretty sure the cartridge art for the 'Motendo' game is the same box art for the SNES game 'X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse'.
This episode is a very nostalgic for me because I used to play the x-men in the arcade. The Marvel Vs Capcom 1 and 2 style animation made me feel like I was a kid again in the 90’s. I'm loving the continuation of the series so far. I wonder in this new day and age, if this show will somehow align with a certain multiverse problem. I'd lose it if the Wolverine in Deadpool 3 is the X-Men 97 variant, if Deadpool is the multiverse Jesus? Then Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine from this Universe is at his table lol
I wish the entire episode was just Motendo. Mojo is by far my favorite villain from the og series, and Jubilee and Roberto remain the highlight of X-Men '97.
I’m I’m almost pretty sure but the 16 bit jubilee fighting in the game is very reminiscent of how the original Xbox video game was when I played it in the arcade which is quite the mash to arcade games in the day
From an interesting perspective, I like How they adapt from a gamer point of view. Mojo universe of gamer is like real life god pro gamer or something. Or Kang the Conqueror and the multiverse or Phanos in the infinity war. My two cents lol
Hey guys, I am curious on your opinion on something which always plagues me and a lot and some of the shows I usually watch anime shows I watch do you feel that the X-Men should kind of be a little more explicit on the time jumps between episodes because for example, death part one compared to the episode before in my opinion, it is a long time like it wasn’t like maybe a week or so. It had to be a long time only because of the back-and-forth between Forge and rogue like it it like it just didn’t just happened especially with some of the things he had built to try to help roguecause I know comics or in particular animation they usually don’t give you like a clearcut like how long it’s hard to do how actually long things have been going on. i agree: they are two short. i would sacrifice jubilee's story (the segment i enjoyed the most in this ep) for a full life death part 1. could have had both if they did with lifedeath what they did with inferno: everything in one ep. just make it a longer 45min ep! heck make the whole series 45-60 minutes and 12-13 eps a season
Storm took a breath before she entered that machine. She braved her claustrophobia.
