awesome guide, simple and to the point. two quick and minor constructive criticisms: -decurses are a great raid utility spell we bring which wasnt mentioned here -adding in a blizzard after your two flamestrikes is also a good idea. obviously movement situations kinda get in the way of that, but if you can stand still then combining it all is pretty massive aoe other than that, great video!
Decurse doesn't do damage, lol jk ye you're right, it is an important utility spell that I forget to mention. The blizzard after the flamestrikes is also correct, granted the mobs will be able to stay in the blizzard .
you can let living bomb drop for 3-4 sec if u have non stop procs of pyro, u apply it after the procs are done and u have a solo fireball cast,cheers !
@@orhanpeters5145 Downranking spells no longer reduces the mana costs of spells. So downranking healing spells is not useful any longer. But there are some cases, like flamestrike stacking, where downranking can still be used. This works on private servers, in classic TBC and on the WotLK alpha, if changes happens before it goes live I will try to update in the description.
Fire frost mage is bursty but not constant DPS, normally you go with it when you don't have enough hit rate or you have enough burst to take down the boss before icy vein ends, fire arcane mage is much more consistent against bosses/raids, but requires to have cap hit rate and high critical rate (at least 30%, but get as much as you can without sacrificing too much haste) to abuse the hot streak talent

So fireball does have a travel time and there is technically an optimal distance you want to stand from the boss. Many times due to the fight its not practical to do and this is pretty complicated to explain and will not net you hardly and more damage from doing it. For the second question I'm assuming you are talking about the Kirin Tor Set bonus. If you get the proc and don't consume the hot streak just spam out another pyro, rinse are repeat until you out of procs.
Against three targets, one flamestrike and hot streak is better than just spamming flamestrike between bombs. Pyro crit = 10k + 3k burn. Flamestrike crit against three = 9k + 2.66k burn. With T8 bonus, you might be able to cast double hot streak, too.
Ye you are right, I was trying not to over complicate things, but with nearly every AoE rotation you pretty much have to use your best judgement. Often times for AoE, and sometimes for ST there is not a one-size-fits-all approach.
i found that for aoe is better to cast 2-3 flamestrikes and then blizzard. Too many flamestrike can take aggro from the tank and give them unnecesary work.
FFB mage seems to be the stronger fire mage in single target with p1 gear. Don' need a guide tho, just follow this one but replace the spell "Fireball" with "frostfire bolt". You also get the CD Icy Veins, which you pop with your other cds. That's it tho, rotation, stat prio, playstyle. Everything else is the same.
Idk if this is a dumb question but say you have hotstreak and are in a fireball cast but during that cast living bomb pops. Would you cast another fireball and re-apply living bomb then fireball and pyro or the other way around?
You would finish the fireball and instant pyro. Then reapply bomb. You want those pyros >> everything. And obviously never cancel cast to pyro unless you have to move of course

Welcome back , the addon is ElvUI. But there are many alternatives if you don't want a total UI overhaul, WA (weak auras) being the most popular and flexible option.

Fire is more than playable/viable. The only thing is that arcane will prob out preform it for a while. But in no way is fire a non-viable spec. If you really like fire I'd play it, you can always swap to arcane if feel you must.
Nice short guide without fillers and stuff. It's "Wrath" btw. Saw you mistype for both of your video titles and you might miss views because they won't show up for people searching for wrath guides.
So take what I'm about to say with a HUGE grain of salt, because I'm basing my opinion on private sever metas. In OG wrath FFB was considered pretty bad by most, but it did see some use in private servers. It's not a matter of gear level to decide between FFB and TtW, they both have very good scaling with crit and both get stronger as the expansion goes on. FFB does have have 3% extra hit from talents over TtW (arcane focus only counts for arcane spells). So if you are really struggling for hit% than FFB is a good option. I can't really predict with 100% accuracy which way the classic meta is going to go, which is why I included FFB mage in the first place as it might become the "meta" pick.
I actually wasn't using any weak aura's in this video, that cluster of spells in the center of my screen is actually just my bars/mana bar, the addon I'm using here to modify my user interface is called ElvUi (its actually the only addon I used in the particular video) .
your aoe rotation is kinda wrong. Soo on the mage discord it has been discussed that for aoe centric raids/fights its way more dps to go firestarter. And the rotation would living bomb x targets, blastwave into a free instant FS, then db into another free and instant FS, renew living bomb and cast blizzard. rinse repeat.
To call the AoE rotation wrong is a bit disingenuous. And what you are talking about is a case of best vs practical. In the perfect cases, yeah that sounds like it will pump out more AoE dps. But when are you going to be able to use that build? Like for casual guilds most people are going to want 1 pve and 1 pvp build. For the hyper competitive guilds I really don't think mages will have the time to talent swap during a raid between a ST and AoE build. Its a full mana bar reset if you swamp and if you've ever been in a speed running guild you will know that doing so will most likely not be worth it. The only time I can see people going to stuff like this is when they are trying to parse 99+ on a certain fight AND your guild is giving you the parse on that fight (getting a lot of ST buffs like tricks, and letting YOU get all the AoE), so goodluck telling your guild boomkin not to press starfall. A lot of the AoE fights the adds die too fast for this to get pulled off (no joke people crush adds in wrath esp. in unbuffed raids) and then a bunch more fights the adds are too spread for this. Its literally a single point difference because fire starter is 50% chance on every target hit so it procs everytime without needing two points. You are losing 1 point in master of elements which does fuck all. If you dont want to min max thats fine but alot of people are going to min max andyou can pull the combo i stated off relatively quickly. You should try it out yourself as i dont think you have and are just trying to defend your video. But i guarantee once you try it you wont ever spec out of firestarter.

You can also use Dragon's breath + Blast wave to send out an instant Flamestrike r9 followed by a flamestrike r8, its much faster than casting it

Playing firemage, should I use a 20 sec haste trinket (2min cd) or a 20sec spellpower boost + spirit stats (2min cd) trinket?

No, you should still take the talent because it gives you crit on your fireball/ffb. You just don't have to cast scorch on the boss.

They do not stack, so if you have a warlock, they will always cast SB. Leaving you free to not cast scorch.
It helps if you’re fire to let your locks know. It changes their opener up because scorch should be your opener. If that makes sense

You go ffb till 600-650 haste. You can swap to fire once you’re hitting 50% crit buffed. Not gonna feel good till you hit 66% though.
Also anyone going fire p1 or p2 is legit trolling and wasting a raid slot lol.

Viable? sure. Optimal? probably not. Could be a fun thing to try on a farm raid day tho, who knows maybe you got the next hot build on your hands.
