Note to self: When playing this game, make sure to make my Ouroboros unbelievably powerful before finishing the first phase and then pick the beast deck

I never powered Ouroboros in first act and cheesed the second one with the unstopable army of mantis gods and free skeletons
Mark is the only person I know that would accidentally pick a deck he hated and still attempt to use it over and over. And still have me rooting for him.

I gave up with MOX nearly immediately, I salute him for trying to make it work lmao
Had a friend re-pick their starting deck several times. MOX was complicated, Energy is harder to grasp, Death can be difficult (Because it relies on, well, Death), and Beasts can also end up troubling as you don't get a seperate Squirrel Deck.
She's currently stuck at Po3, because Po3 sucks. Fuck Po3

he seems to hybrid magic and beast a lot
magic being free sacrifice and beasts being the actual attack cards
but that's just a worse normal beast deck
if he manages to buy 2-3 squirrels he can just play the beast deck for all matches which is what i did
(he can get more blood with other blood cards later)

Until you realise that you can later make the Oroborous infinitely strong and make a deck to 99% if the time draw it first turn, very epic stuff

I love that the pirate ghoul died because “life didn’t give him lemons”, meaning he couldn’t fight off scurvy which a lot of pirates/sailors would get and die of. (Scurvy is caused by a lack of vitamin C which citrus fruits like lemons can provide)

When you edit your deck, there is an auto-complete button that exists solely to attempt to build a deck that synergizes well with the cards you have. Of course you can switch some around, but it gives a basis of a good deck that works well. The game tends to lean more towards Beastly and Death cards when building the decks, but you can always slap in some magik cards as well. Just thought I'd say this incase by some mere chance you see it and use this to your advantage.
That was like the first thing i did. Then realized i could learn the cards better by the auto complete rather than building from scratch. Really saved me a bundle of time LOL

@@mrrcjunk1 for me it was short lived cause i beefed up my Oroborus to 40/40 LOL so as soon as i was able i built my deck around Oro. I still stuck with auto complete tho lol
To be fair, it mostly leans towards blood/bones because their boss areas are available immediately, letting you get packs for them right away. The basic decks kind of suck, but especially so for Moxes who basica,ly MUST have better sources of gems :(
This is how I learned Gravedigger, cat, Ouroboros and necromancer were the best cards. I had 6 ouroboro in my hand, all with 100 atk and health all of a sudden because i didnt realise Ouro would reappear in my hand EVERYTIME it died, counting the necromancer's ability.

Eh, honestly not especially bad if you combine it with the other free cards and know how to play the game. Mark just has to learn about batteries and such. and if auto generate deck will probably build a better deck then most people can until they have played it for a good while to realize the real strength comes in combining all decks.
The deck seems really good, mark just seems absolutely trash at understanding deck building

Well, I wouldn’t say it’s the “wrong class”, you can access a large amount of cards from all decks very easily so ur starting class doesn’t need to matter. No matter what deck u choose u can access beast cards that you’re familiar with very easily, and that’ll let u access the other decks

Wrong class? I had a fun time with the Magic deck. Yeah, it takes a while before you learn how everything works, but once you know how to use it, it is busted. My favorite was the Stim Mage, which after you get 6 energy, become that of a God.

Nothing was more horrifying to me than when, after enjoying the first act's simple but deep gameplay, the game reveals that you have only been playing one fourth of a greater game with a bunch more mechanics AND having to deckbuild.
Fourth!?!😳 I just finished it a few days ago and there were three acts (more or less). Do you mean the post game stuff? I have yet to start that but it seems filled with lore and that interests me (no spoilers im bad at avoiding those enough already lol)

@@mrlitbottoms6968 it is tough but im sorry to say this part of the game isnt bad... you are. the people who don’t like it are just generally not great at card games. I have beat act 2 4 times once with each deck. the easiest being energy and the hardest being magick although I never really struggled at all.
@@TheSoCanadian exactly, this is the only part of the game where they don't hold your hands too much with the system (act 3's bosses being helpers more than anything lol)

but that's just a worse beast deck
his best bet is to get 4-5 squirrels and then go beast deck since he's familiar with that
The talking cards are the other scrybes!! The Stoat is the computer the stink bug is the bone lady and the stunted wolf is magnificus! Oh that’s so cool! Love this game
It explains why the stink bug was obsessed with death and the stoat was always analyzing things like a computer
I also noticed one of the skeletons was named Kaycee, a card that appeared earlier in the game

I think Scrybes are meta aware and Act 1 with Leshy's whole "Scary maniac in the woods" shtick was just some elaborate DnD style game and he never actually, you know, killed you, merely reset said game. So all this Kaycee and etc probably just some RNG generated characters to flesh out world a bit.
I finally found out what the ring worm was for all those episodes ago. Apparently, you could have fed it to the survivors in the camp fire event to kill them and be able to infinitely upgrade your cards from then on.
Dude yeah, it’s so overpowered. I had my stoat leveled up to 9-19 and a mantis lord that dealt 6 attack in three lanes which made the moon croak so fast 😂. You can also poison them with something like the adder that has the poison sigil. But you can make some nutty cards in act 1.

As someone else who chose magic as the starting deck can confirm magic is definitely one of if not THE worst starting options
What would be the best option? Beast seems to give tje god tier orobouros back but undead seemed really clutch in mark's last battle.
it is the worst, every other deck is significantly easier to understand as well as play
@@caosisaac I'd say undead is the easiest, just stack up on skeletons through foils from the dummy, and then get ouroboros and an uyaruli or two, as well as some high damage bone cards and it's a cake walk
@@caosisaac true, honestly I don't know because I haven't tried starting with the other decks but since in the previous stage you use a beast deck beast or undead seems good (since magic and robots have low power and weird mechanics)
@@caosisaac the easiest is probably the death cards (the bone cost ones), since your cards die all the time
but the easiest to learn is the beast cards, since you spent the entire first act of the game learning the beast cards
I love how the mox resource on the magic scrybe's cards accurately captures the feeling of getting mana-screwed while playing Magic: The Gathering. This game is such a great homage to card games.

Lol if he had managed to win that one round he'd have gotten zero-cost six-health cards back.
I think probably the biggest mistake with his builds is not going for the green mox gems exclusively. I know he wanted the blue ones for the draw 1 card mage, but going -1 in hand is just not worth it. That card is only decent in a blue gem exclusive deck.
Interested to see where he can go from here.

It may not be intentional nor done out of pure malice, but they all act or are willing to do something considerably bad if they see that it may fit there motives. I dont want to get into specifics cause spoilers

It's the old_data making them malicious tho. They are working together like a charm whenever one has taken control, but when no one is in control, each of them fights to be in control.

Mark, the best deck you can have is 19+ squirrels and one ouroboros.
Actually I usually use blue mox and blue mage to draw for Ouroboros as an otk

I find having the Ouros and Pharaohs Pets as more useful then squirrels. Also where's the excitement? the drama? by that point you can afford any card in act 2 and to end most matches in 2 or 3 turns, Saitama will tell you its kinda boring.
@@yuugur666 Ouroboros is an Infinitely Powerful card and is the only card whose power transfers thru all 3 acts, easy to say one of if not the most OP card in the game.

The mage deck is literally the worst one to pick, yet it "sounds" the most exciting when you dont know what act 2 is... I did the exact same mistake, realized it was crap, and switched to the beast one instead. SOOO much easier lol
The mage deck works once you understand it. It's not one mage deck fits all. (I just finished Act 2 so it's fresh in my memory). For every of the four areas you build a different focus deck. Like for Leshy, who had a lot of attacking cards, I focused on blue mages because those cancel his damage and then I could bring in my Green Battery Mage and just kick his butt.
Same for the other three. A bit of luck and good planning.
@@lorettabes4553 Super late on this reply but honestly, all the decks are good if built and utilized correctly. Magic decks can build into insane hybrid decks as mark demonstrates in this video. You just need a good understanding of the cards and what to bring.
I did the same thing for the same reason, lol. Tech and beast was where it was for me.
I did mage deck and it was definitely so much fun. That green card that you can juice up legit was the best thing I’ve used when I played the game. (I played blind and didn’t do an Ouro build). Once I built around it, I stomped anything in my path. Would do mage again, but definitely agree hard to understand at first, and some people will prob give up on it before understood.
Mage is rough to start with because you don’t have access to the mage tower to get more mage cards but once you get a good build up it’s just as good as the others and the technomages are great by the end of the fight I’d have two that we’re doing 4-6 damage each

The death lady is what Stinkbug changed into slowly, the stoat slowly turned to a robot looking dude, and the wolf probably degrades into the magic guy, that's why the talking wolf only had 1 eye, because the magic dude's other eye made it possible to see hidden writing that led to ultimately freeing the wolf
Also, I've seen Mark pick up a fair amount of cards that would benefit from a Green Mox and Energy oriented hybrid deck

As someone who played the game themselves, Mark, it’s so worth exploring the map as much as possible to see the game’s secrets! (Hint: Explore Leshy’s/the Forest section more. There you can find more lore!)
Exploring post-magnificus fight is better, as his eye reveals trails if paint you couldnt see before

The energy cards are the best in this part of the game. The only cards with a static guaranteed resource. They let you use blood cards more easily.

Recently watched some older markiplier. Markiplier has increased his calmness and decreased his sanity over the years and it's really funny to see. I also feel like I have personally done the exact same thing. So despite markiplier changing over the years, he's always felt the same to me.
Just something I wanted to mention.
It is sad in a way, though. Better for his heart, though.

It’s part of becoming an adult. I’m about the same age as him and my tolerance for his insane shenanigans diminished over time along with how his content evolved. You realize some things just aren’t worth blowing up over when you start feeling your age.
i'm so happy he's gotten calmer. i know you commented this over a year ago, but this comment really struck a chord with how i've felt rejoining his community. i really do not like youtubers who yell incessantly. they're just not for me. there are still times when mark can be a little much (repeating things over and over in goofy voices for a little too long, for example), but i really like his content! but yeah, just thought i'd chime in.

Yeah the decks are terribly imbalanced. The mage deck is bad, so is the bones deck. The bot deck is somewhat okay. The only deck that doesn't completely suck is the blood deck, the one you started with.
Act 2 was definitely the low point for me.

Oof. Magick is a rough start. I noticed in my playthrough it seemed to lack the oomph to be the centerpiece of a deck and would be more suited to supplementing one of the other Temples, and this seems to cement that.
I guess the other three Temples get more spotlight because they're so much more prevalent in other parts of the game. Beastly especially, since Leshy's Cabin is entirely Beastly.

Agreed. While everything else has synergy to work with, Magic is by far the weakest choice in this game.
It’s just a more defensive kind of deck. All of your mox are intended to be used as shields for lanes that cause problems while allowing you to infinitely summon mages. Mark is just using too many of the worst magic cards (the ones that die if there’s no mox) and that empties his side of the field when it otherwise might not.
@@blademadlabs2423 I think the main problem is the lack of the ability to Sacrifice the mox cards. It breaks the synergy of the other resources, and ultimately makes it feel disjointed from the rest of the play styles.
And yes, giving the "Kill if you don't have mox" on the field are the worse for that reason alone. Why would I want a mox on the field with a Weak card, rather than sacrifice it for a stronger one? Except you can't sacrifice the mox, so it just takes up room on the board until you destroy it or it dies. And if the cards die with it, yeah, it wasn't a well though out mechanic imo.
@@Next0gen0 there's only a few cards that die with the mox, and most of them aren't even that good.
If you have a double mox and only use two colors in yor deck you can pretty much play everything in your first turn, and having cards that can draw other cards (blue mage or master orlu) is a huge help
I honestly liked magic. I made a pretty solid pure magic deck that I used for the rest of that play through and it worked wonders and is the only one I decided to write down.
As for synergy, always felt it worked best with technology though I'm not entirely sure why. Only real proof I have of this is that magic was the only secondary system used in the final act(though that might have been more to show it off more like undead was in the first act), and in the second act, stim mage is really good. As for undead, there's gourmand, but not much else. I mean undead already kinda works with all of them pretty well anyways but nothing in specific to connect them. Finally for beast, it works well because as long as you have at least one mox down, you can place down as many of that mox type as you want for free and can use them as sacrifices. And yeah, a lot of other synergies work a lot better it isn't as terrible as it seems.
Actually, there are a few specific synergies that I can think of off the top of my head. Alpha wolf and hand mage work well as it literally entirely stops an enemy's attack then gets to attack back. Then grave digger and gourmand can make a pretty beefy card. The mages that can't live without a mox card can be played whenever for quick free bones. I haven't played the game in a bit so I don't remember much but if I got that just from memory and a bit of watching a play through then that must count for something in its favor.

I've beaten the game twice now, and I gotta say, magic sucks, like it's actually the worst. The only magic card I like is Stim Mage, and that's just because of it's broken combo with Energy Conduit.

Anyone else find it kinda funny that the opponent's cards must be upside down for them. I assume this is just to make it easier to see what your opponent's card has on it

Id honestly argue the beasts represent yugioh better in terms of play mechanics (a much simpler yugioh anyways) but ik the Magic section has a LOT of yugioh references. It may be the weakest but it is very much viable. Mark just has SOOO MANY Mox cards in his set.
The mox set is probably the most consistent set, but the problem is that it's incredibly synergy dependant and the starting deck is just pure garbage. You really need the magic masters to even use a mox deck. Mox's dependance on synergy also means it doesn't mix well with other sets, while the other three sets can make hybrid decks fairly easily.
With a good mox deck, you basically can't ever brick. Some decks you brick on turn 1, reset a few times, play 2-3 turns, brick again, and reset some more. With a well made mox deck, that almost never happens.
No, mix set is easy to get going if you can figure out how to use it properly. Your crystals can shut lanes down whil allowing you to infinitely summon mages of their form of mox. It’s not got the big damage of beast or the ease of access of robot, but it’s still perfectly viable for a more defensive player

Eh I went with the Mox deck myself and had a fine time of it. Especially once I found out how useful the autocomplete function is.
Mark, here's a helpful tip, now that you have defeated a boss, the bridge is open. Go to the tower, get to the practice dummy, you can battle it as much as you want, it does you no harm. You can farm foil cards off of that, I've done it myself. Get the Ouroboros from the trader in Leshy's cabin, Beef that sucker up as much as you want using the practice dummy, you'll win every battle afterward so long as you draw it, I got mine up to 109 using said dummy, and one shot Leshy, the only boss you'll have difficulty with, well...I'll let you discover that. Just figured I'd let you in on that, I was excited the moment I found it out myself.
if you get ouroboros to 666 attack in act 2 and use it to win a battle you get an achievement :D it took me a while but im happy i got it
think there's a card that gives infinite energy or something like that so you could just click on stim-mage a lot.
hammer only deals 100 damage so ouroboros seem like a pain

@@purrpletiger352 Stim mage method is quicker, but ouroboros is still easy to do. An infinite turn to buff ouroboros is vs the training dummy with a deck with 1 field mice, 2 cats, 1 pharoahs pets, 1 squirrel, and 1 ouroboros. Draw until you have them all and then grind to your hearts content.

Mox deck is fine… if you build hybrid decks with it, like Bonemox
It’s the hardest to start with though. The problem is, people (me included) see the word “magic” and get all excited.
Moz is really really strong if you cut your build. People try to use all the colors of mox and that just doesn't work. It's like building a deck with all the lands in MTG, it's really hard to make a winning deck in that case. I recommend Blue Orange. Blue's core cards are Blue mage and Gem fiend, and Orange's core cards are Ruby golem and Orange mage. If working with other deck archetypes, cut out the orange side and keep only blue. Blue has the only Card Draw in the act and it's repeatable, so you can greatly increase your consistent, and blue offers free 3/1s once you get a blue mox on the board. When compared to the balance of the rest of the cards, hitting for 3 (or even 6 or 9) on turn 1 is capital "b" Busted.

To be fair, the wizard cards are super weird coming from act 1.
Once you get the super card draw, it works great.
Combined with mantis god there's a better RNG chance for OTK.
Also you need to wail on that practice dummy for TONS of foils.

@@kyuubicat5 I mean, he can play with different cards, but the starter is basically the perfect setup for whatever cards you want to use. You can beat Grimora and gain access to the other 2 scribes using your starter deck, so you can build on every type of card super swiftly. (You can do it with Leshy but it's harder with the grizzlies and deathcard stuff.)

I ended up combining the styles and it worked out for me, but maybe that was just luck lol
I had combined decks too haha, especially with the boss battles and Magicus's pupils
Combined deck are better in general, beast without the need for squirrel which let you use cards that can be sacrificed turn 1 while never actually being dead draw. Bones card require a lot of death and combining them with at least some energy card give you better card to let die since energy card won't consume bones and require no set up when used for support. Energie deck is the easiest to use without other type of cards but still gain from the ability to use some of the better bones card for blocking, late game or broken activated abilities and can use low cost beast card like mantis god since 1 energy card are just better than squirrel and early game is the weakness of those deck. Magic deck have very specific requirement and are indeed slightly harder to use in a synergistic way at the start, but the starting deck is bad at synergy in the first place you should never really use more than 2 type of mox and usually 1 type of mox with support from other archetype is better, the only real exception being infinite draw deck but mark doesn't have enough card to make this kind of deck yet.
Honnestly the magic starter deck is just bad since to use magic decks properly you need to balance the amount of mox and usable card you have, while also making sure you don't draw dead hand with the wrong type of mox. It's managable but just worse than the other options even if you like to use magic decks. Im actually surprised Mark figured out that is best option was to only use 2 mox type and combine it with other archetype, sadly he's not a huge card game player so he does it badly which create his synergy problems.

Fun fact: I don't think a single person went for the Scrybe of tech route. And also never seen somebody who chose something besides beasts and actually stuck to it. They immediately swapped to a beast deck.
I watched ProJared stick to solely Magic cards because he likes Magic The Garhering. Also yeah, Tech seems kinda lame in part 2. Might be intentional so people aren't burned out when they have to play a whole chapter of it?
I actually chose to overthrow PO3 without knowing anything on this game, but I realised you can have unlimited cards in the deck so I literally just did a combo of everything with about 40-ish cards in my deck to make a good balance even if I have a bad shuffle on hand.

I tried to do magic but kept getting my butt handed to me (probably because I didn't really try to mod it much) so I swapped to tech and it was a lot of fun
Fun tip: when you select auto complete while making your deck it normally sets up cards that work well with each other. Recommend doing an autocomplete everytime you get new cards...also oroboros will make your life easier.
