I had the LX model 37 years ago, it's just so cool to have a sedan with pop up headlights back in the time. Still love the car with all the good memories in my young age.
Came up in a Honda family, the mid late 80s early 90s hondas are the best, that engine sounds great man and the car is very clean this video was a treat for me
I agree. Build quality yet to be seen in Hondas since. Over engineered in some aspects. My '86 LX sedan had insulation wrapped around the water hoses, as example. Same for the exhaust from the converter on down. Just one example of how far Honda went. Motor hit 300,000 km, no sweat. There were many like that in the video still on the road well into the late 2000's.
That was nice to see. This car is still an attractive, sporty, useful simple honda style. The dash, the looks, flip up lights💅, & that honda start. It's missing that "ok honda sticker "& if this car had all the accessories ie fog lights, spoiler ( off the coupe, bra etc this car would be really something to see. Lucky ppl who owned this beauty. !!! Thank you for showing this. This helps on a cloudy day
It's crazy I was born May 12, 1989 my mom's had this same honda it was a 1989 and that's what I got my driver's license in when I was 15 in 2004 & plan on giving it to my daughter in 2yrs on her 15th birthday YES IT'S STILL UP & RUNNING STRONG WITH JUST 499,875 MILES ON HER THEY DEFINITELY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THAT ANYMORE!!!
I cannot believe these still exist with only 55k miles in pristine condition. Like finding a needle in a haystack! My dad bought an '88 LX brand new...put 240k on the odometer, then passed it onto me in 2000, in which I put on another 120,000 miles on it until 2004 before donating it to a friend who needed a car. Considering that the original engine and transmission was never replaced, yours is probably going to go on for decades more. Honda engineering FTW!
Yeah crazy they are still out there. Just purchased and documented on my channel picking up a one owner with 38k original miles. Car was bought in Miami and stayed in Miami it’s whole life. Now it’s in tampa with me
Wow look how plush The interior looks compared to the accord interiors of today. Hard flat and black. My mom drove a 89 Camry when I was a kid growing up and I've driven camrys my whole adult life. I came across an old 89 that was like a time capsule much like this accord and I couldn't Believe how soft and squishy Teddy bear fur Covered seats. I missed those burgundy crushed valore seats lol
Beautiful! This is the car that transitioned Honda from a cheap import car to a company that could compete with the giants like Ford and Chevy. This car beat out the Ford Taurus as the most sold family sedan of the 80s. Huge step up from the 82-85 Accords.
I love your video! My parents had a gold 5MT ‘89 Accord DX with manual windows and locks. The dealer added A/C and cruise. Sadly, I never got to drive it.
Very nice! I once had a beater 1988 Accord in the early 2000s. I loved it, and probably would have kept it longer, maybe even forever if it had been in the condition of this sweet ride! Considering it's granny beige, it was probably a little old lady's car who drove it to church or the grocery store once a week and then eventually quit driving or passed away.
Parents bought an ‘88 Accord LX. Became my first car in 95. Great memories. I remember the night we picked it up. Quite an upgrade from a 1980 Plymouth Volare.
My dad had a 1986 Honda Accord LX and it lasted from 86 to 2002! He traded it in for a 2002 Honda Civic EX and it was driven from 2002 to 2021 when my mom traded it in for a 2018 jeep compass latitude 4 x 4. I had a 2001 accord V6 EX-L and it lasted from 2001 to 2021 when I traded it in for a 2013 Accord EX-L i4!!
My grandparents had a blue 1989 Honda Accord LX sedan for over two decades. It didn't get used very much because they were using their other car, which was one of three minivans over the course of 20 years. They gave it to my aunt in 2012, and then my aunt sold it to a mechanic in 2016 because a tire had wrapped around the axle. It only had 137,000 miles on it, but I know it still had some life left in it when it was sold, and it was otherwise in pristine condition. I remember that it had a synthetic wrap old school steering wheel cover on it. I miss that little blue Honda, as my grandmother used to call it, and I always wonder where it is or how it's doing. Does the door/seatbelt chime work in your 1989 Honda Accord? I really like those, and I sure wish they were still used on the newer Honda Accords from 2013 onwards. The 1989 Honda Accords that are still in great shape remind me of Jeopardy! announcer Johnny Gilbert in a way.
I purchased a used 1980 Honda Prelude when I was a senior in high school. My first new car was a 1988 Honda Accord LXi Coupe. I thought I was so cool driving that car around. I became a Honda/Acura fanatic and have driven nothing but Hondas and Acuras ever since. I've had 10 Hondas and 8 Acuras over the years. Currently have a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T that I absolutely love and look forward to driving every single day. Watching this video brought back some very fond memories from the past.
I got exactly what you have from the original owner in Seattle, approx same mileage. I don't plan to let it go, gotta give it some tlc though. Some friends with the exact same car got 500,000 mi out of theirs!
I’ve got this exact car only difference is mine is manual. 245,000 on the clock and in better condition than this. My dad bought the car brand new in 1989 and it’s been in the family since. I don’t plan to ever get rid of it, the car is incredibly reliable and gets better gas mileage than most newer cars
Wow, miss this car, my first car that I got from my folks as a hand me down back in the late 90s. Had to get rid of it because the repairs cost more than the cars value in 1999. Got another Accord Ex after trading this 88 Accord Lx-i in for.
I had the same car in 1999. It cannot run beyond a certain speed on freeway because car starts flies in air. You can see other cars are overtaking it on freeway but it didnot overtake any other car. Otherwise car a best car for driving within city limits.
A family in my neighborhood had one of these for at least 20 years. I watched it outlast just about every European car on the block. I wish Honda still made quality vehicles like this. My hybrid Civic was AWFUL.
You know what... I totally agree! This car, among most of the ones that I have on my channel right now, where shot as video to show the details and imperfections as they where up for sale online. Most people selling their car on Cars & Bids or BaT don't want to hear me talk about my honest thoughts on their car, but are paying me to show the car for sale. I will be adding in some additional videos sooner than later talking about what some of these cars are good and/or bad at.
I had same vehicle with 67k only thing after all this time you need to change that timing belt critical now. When you get a new title for it mileage will be exempt as its over 10 years old.
Just got an ‘86 LXi for my first car at 16 Absolutely love everything about it!! Definitely going to keep it alive well into the future
If I could find one like this, these days, I would buy it in a heartbeat

Love this kinda stuff. Everyone has some sort of connection to these cars.
I have the non flip up headlights version in the uk, same original mileage!

I want this exact car with the 5spd. Excellent video. You touched so many things that the average reviewer would overlook.
That's a beautiful Accord! You're a lucky man
This is definitely the coolest family sedan of all time. Name any other family car that came with pop up headlights!
Your comprehensive videos are the *best*! Keep 'em coming! Love the old Honda ones, especially.
Wow look how plush The interior looks compared to the accord interiors of today. Hard flat and black. My mom drove a 89 Camry when I was a kid growing up and I've driven camrys my whole adult life. These are every 80s raised man's dream car more and more every day. Dont sell it for a while or at all. Gonna be worth gold bars sooner than later.
It's such a beautiful car, love it!
5:13 now THAT is rare... a fuel-filler cap that does not need the insert to fix the rust recall problem. Missing my '87 DX now.
Beautiful!

The 89 Accord is my all time pr=perfect car of my dreams

My parents had the exact same model and Color , man I wish we still had it…. Was such a good car in so many ways….
Have such amazing childhood memories with that car. An Accord was considered a luxury car in Pakistan and we loved ours :)

I swear this generation of Accord has some emotional tie to EVERYONE, it's wild.

It's like a brand new car!
I got a 89 SEI 4DR 126,000 miles leather sunroof spoiler my dream car reason I fell in love with Honda

I just bought an 88 Lx with 170,000 for $300. Drives like a dream

Muy buen carro, yo tengo un 1986 y espero en algun momento poder dejarlo asi como este
Beautiful!
Esse interior vermelho do Honda Accord é o mais bonito que tem ❤
This one is so clean, where can i get these wheels ?
They are factory LX-i wheels
What a cool car!
Considering one as my first vehicle. Would you guys recommend or are there better choices? I mainly like this design and I know it's a reliable car.
Such mint car i dont see these in England anymore.
The First Great Honda Accord Generation (1986-1989).
A hot take for sure, but you might be onto something. I've got a soft spot for the first gen, but these were SO good in there time. Still are really.
So jelly…I miss my 1987 Accord LXi. Loved that car!!!! Had 150K miles when I sold her. Worst mistake ever!
كيف يعمل الاضواء
The third generation was the best design of all accords in my opinion
Was that Seattle Silver on burgundy cloth a common combo?
Yep ! Maybe only on the LX-i. N.E.OH Bob
I love I love I love
I just saw one on Facebook market place with 79k it was so nice I wish I could buy it lol
Is it for sale?

I love honda , is it for sale ?

For Sale?
Did you know the back seat folds down in that car
I don’t understand Car Reviews with No Reviewing.. Tell us your opinion on the car!..

I regret selling my 1990 Honda Accord cb7 coupe exact same color with a 5 speed.
Ahh back when Hondas were good cars.
You mean "Earth Dreams" isn't doing anything for you? lol

Forsale?
Long gone
