    Got my 24 plate RP last weekend. Coming from a 22 plate RP, you can easily feel the power difference. Pulls hard from 3.5k. The styling changes are better too. I feel less wind against my legs now and the screen is a HUGE improvement. The engine note is sweeter too, it growls now. The auto switching headlamp is a good improvement as will change to dipped automatically when the light starts fading. Before you had to manually switch to dipped from daytime running light. The lit indicators acting as a running light are also new and something to make the bike more visible to the pillocks in cars. Improved vibration dampning on the handle bars is good but lack of after market risers is now a problem ( they have changed the mount). The engine is a peach and I love the power. Feels like you’re riding a 1000cc now. If you are looking for a new bike then certainly don’t overlook the new 900. It’s way better than the previous model.

      screen is an improvement? Isn't it exactly the same except you get now plastic handle instead of metal tube?

    • @oohermissus6655
      @oohermissus6655 2 месяца назад

      @@PovilasPanavas yes it’s plastic now. However the engine and power delivery is where the update shines. TFT update is a big improvement too.

      @@oohermissus6655 I do not argue any other points. My comment is solely about this text from you: "and the screen is a HUGE improvement."
      I don't think anything about the screen is changed except putting a plastic handle instead of metal.
      I didn't notice any improvement over 23 screen, except the handle downgrade.

    Rode both the 900 & 1200 Rally Pro today. 900 seat is hard and my backside was in bits within 30 minutes. My arms and right shoulder ached too. Swapped to the 1200. Like sitting on a sofa compared to the 900. Massive bike. Great for long distance but IMO not an everyday bike. Both are awesome power, sound and tech. I genuinely thought I would be blown away and fully intended to drop some serious coin today. I was left indifferent if I'm honest. Great great bikes both but not for me. I got back on my 660 Tiger Sport with my custom seat and wanted to compare what I had just ridden to mine. For me, I was elated because I really love my 660 Sport and for me it is the perfect bike.......for now.

    • @oohermissus6655
      @oohermissus6655 2 месяца назад

      The 900 seat isn’t as comfortable as the 2020 model. However I normally ride 4-5hrs continuously and I’ve never really got a numb arse. 1200 is just a pavement muncher, where as the 900 is meant to be ridden everywhere. Same goes for BMWs 1250 as opposed to the GS900 The big engines are just pavement munchers bought by old guys who bounce from cafe to cafe on a Sunday afternoon where as us 900 guys or girls like to rip up some dirt instead.

    I test road 2024 GT Pro and Rally Pro for 1.5h each with just 10 min break in between. Rally Pro has significantly more vibrations than GT Pro. It's not that they are a deal breaker for me (since I still ordered Rally Pro), but the difference is very noticeable. Some people say Rally Pro models vibrate more because of different geometry, others that it's about crash-bars (my Rally Pro demo had also upper tank crash-bars mounted while GT Pro had no protection at all).
    I first test rode Rally Pro and thought vibrations are OK, except my left foot which got a bit numb, because the bike was equipped with accessory foot-pegs without rubber inserts. Hands and my but, and tank felt more or less vibrations free. Nothing to worry about. But when I sat on GT Pro, it felt smoother, especially in handlebars. GT Pro felt like there's no vibrations at all. Honda Transalp feels very vibey in comparison to GT Pro.

    Had a 2020 when they first came out, great bike but got through ‘consumables’ like fork seals and chain/sprockets at an alarming rate. After 3 years it had a list of failed parts no longer covered under warranty, didn’t age well and the 6000 mile service interval isn’t good enough for a bike that’s used regularly. Didn’t get another, went for a Africa twin AS, very happy with it.

    Just the fact that finally you can get it into a nice color (I ordered the one as in the video) is worth it. My only concern is that when I was testing 2023 GT Pro I didn't have any warmth or heat coming out at 7C. But when I tested both 2024 GT Pro and Rally Pro at just a bit higher temperature of 10C I felt annoying warmth from both sides, not hot, but warm. The whole motorcycle is warm around knee area. And when you're dressed for 10C air, but your knees are kept at like 25C it's not nice. I just "pray" it won't ruin the bike for me. I also know that people add fins to redirect air a bit, so probably will try that too.
    I personally didn't notice extra power, but then again there was a gap between me riding 2023 and 2024 models. I also didn't notice difference in vibrations between generations, maybe except the last 1-2k RPMs. To me feels mostly the same except in the seat. 2023 would make my butt vibrate when revved to the limiter, 2024 seat doesn't do that.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  5 месяцев назад +1

      I remember that on the previous model after riding it quite 'spirited' but it was never awful to the point where I wanted to get off the bike. Didn't notice it at all on this bike so hopefully it will be the same for you. Having said that.. I am used to sitting on top of a 1300cc VTwin.. so maybe I'm desensitised 😂

    • @PovilasPanavas
      @PovilasPanavas 5 месяцев назад +1

      @SamVBikes yeah, it's all about perspective. For example, why people are not complaining that Honda Trasnalp is vibey? Vibrations can clearly be felt up until about 5.5k-6k RPMs. And the 3.7k-4.3k RPM range vibrations are unacceptably bad. But somehow no one is talking about that.
      And thank you! :)

I’m one of those weird people that prefer the GT to the Rally - the big front wheel and much smaller rear wheel makes the bike look unbalanced and I don’t need to pretend I’m off in the Dakar rally 😂 although the 1300GS may (in terms of sales at least) still be the bike to beat at the top end, in terms of spec there’s not much to top these in the midrange. As a touring bike with good fuel economy and a 20L tank it’s up there with a KTM890 adventure for long range. The BMW midrange bikes don’t really compete in this sector anymore, being expensive, overweight, under equipped and under-powered. I don’t see the Japanese bikes (Transalp and Vstrom 800) as direct competition because they’re much cheaper and much more poorly equipped, but still worth a look for those who value ultimate build quality and reliability over spec.

      Haha not weird at all! It's definitely a strong road bike! Most of the market went towards the 21inch front for a few years but it seems we are seeing a few more bkes heading back the other way! Definitely agree with the middle weight summary - the BMW seems really lacking. Hoping the new 900's will bring them back into the game!

    My biggest concern is HEAT! It’s hot here in the 🇵🇭 🥵
    Has it been fixed or have a GOOD fix to keep off the legs & thighs?

      I didn't notice it on this model, but it wasn't a particularly warm day. I did notice it on the previous model though so I'd have to test it on a hot day

      Heat not fixed....still blows radiator heat at your knees and legs. But I still bought the rally pro. Great bike.....but I don't ride it in temps above 75 degrees F.

      @@Keyser_Soze739 unless you've actually owned one of these particular bikes, you may not understand what we're talking about as far as heat cooking your knees. Some of it may have to do with tall riders, I'm 6'1. I've got six bikes in the garage, none of them blow heat directly at my knees or legs. In the summer, any bike engine is going to produce heat, but for Triumph to actually put radiator fans on each side that directly blow right at the rider, is kind of in my opinion, poor engineering and design.

    Too expensive, I wonder when the 900s start to have the same cost of the 1200s, yeah Honda 1100 is the way. And of course the biggest winners will be the Chinese manufacturers that will completely overtake the European market.
