Hello there! Have you tried coconut oil? I just now put it on my dog and watched the fleas die! It really works! Just comb it in their fur. I left it on her for awhile b4 giving her a bath. I actually pulled dead fleas off of her after applying the coconut oil! Its AMAZING!

      The problem with dishwashing soaps
Ironically, it’s the very thing that makes Dawn and other dishwashing soaps so effective at treating wildlife affected by oil spills and at destinking your pets when they’ve been “skunked” - their excellent grease and oil removing ability - that makes these soaps inappropriate for regular bathing of your pets.
When used for routine bathing of your pets, dishwashing soaps will quickly strip your pet’s skin of the natural oils that help to nourish and protect it. This leaves the skin less well-hydrated and decreases its ability to keep bacterial, yeast, and allergic irritants at bay. Dawn is not the best shampoo product for dogs with bacterial skin infections, and it's not labeled for canine or feline use, he says. Instead, you should opt for a product designed specifically for pets, says Dr. Reeder.

I have rescue cats and kittens. Best flea treatment I have found is Bayer Advantage II, or any of copycat brands. Dawn works great; especially for kittens that are too young for flea drops. Adding a tad of lemon juice to Dawn makes it even more potent.

Dawn is gentle. If used constantly, it can irritate the skin which can lead to scratching.

Did not work well for me. I even washed my dogs 3 Saturday’s in a row, along with vacuumed everyday to include the couches and washed my bedding every 3 days. It seems to stun or maybe kill the fleas that the soap touches but does nothing for the eggs/larvae. I used Adams one time and problem solved.

Ruth, I’ve read that It actually has to sit on the animal for 10 minutes once you rub it into the far just give them a little massage and then let it sit for 10 minutes. And then use one of those fine tooth comb’s the real tiny ones that are actually for the fleas in the lil bugs the people getting their hair sometimes.
I’m going to try here pretty soon with my little dog and I’ll let you know how it goes.

It only takes one day to get infested. We have 3 dogs, one is a Tibetan Terrier and we can't get the fleas off the dog for longer than a few hours, the other two are fine after a treatment. Some dogs are just more prone to fleas, takes daily dedication to keeping the fleas at bay.
