I think we all saw issues with effort yet Lebby was adamant that his guys weren't quitting. I sure hope he is being positive about the guys who were playing hard rather than being blind to what is happening on the field.

You 3 gentlemen are missing the biggest fact out of that massacre inflicted by TOLEDO!!! TOLEDO HAD A BETTER TEAM ACROSS THE BOARD, one of you made the comment that TOLEDO’S top 85 was NOT BETTER THAN MISSISSIPPI STATES TOP 85, AFTER WATCHING THAT GAME DENIAL IS THE ONLY LOGICAL EXPLANATION FOR ANYONE MAKING THAT COMMENT!!! THE FACT IS TOLEDO’S TOP 108 IS BETTER THAN MISSISSIPPI STATES TOP 108!!!!! THOSE ARE THE FACTS OF THAT TOLEDO 41 MISSISSIPPI STATE 17! AT ONE POINT THE SCORE WAS 35-3! IF COACH CANDLE HAD NOT CALLED OFF THE DOGS, THE SCORE WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE!!!

Firing or losing a coach with the transfer portal in place is damn near the death penalty for a school unless you are a big name university. Firing Lebby will only delay the possibility of being good by 2027. I honestly cant believe this many people thought we were actually going to be competitive this year.

You are wrong about the roster. Toledo all of the sudden has 15 4 and 5 star guys once they enter the transfer and how badly they demolish state in the draft will prove that. Development after 5 plus years MATTERS over 3 time transfer dudes in game 3 of your scheme. Talent is ability and what you know how to Do. Toledo should have won by 55. That's also on talent.

Jeff Lebby isn't necessarily a bad coach, just not what the situation called for. Mississippi State supporters are experiencing the effects of not hiring the right coach to quickly fix a very bad situation. It should have been a tried and true hire which is Dan Mullen. The mis-hire shows incompetence on behalf of the A.D. and anyone else involved in hiring Lebby. Mullen most likely would at least be able to put together a 6-7 win team this season.

Why? Do you not remember the Leo Lewis saga? If the shoe was on the other foot, they’d be beside themselves with glee.
When you get down to it, State fans aren’t depressed that they suck something awful. They’re used to that. They’re most depressed over the fact that Ole Miss doesn’t suck too. It’s the fact that Ole Miss is currently 5th in the nation with a fantastic coach that ultimately is causing the asshurt.
If the Mullen and freeze years taught me anything, it was that they proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that State fans truly care more about ole Miss losing than state winning. 2014 proved that. They couldn’t get over the fact that Ole Miss was also having a good year. It fucked up their whole perception of that season. And their actions afterward toward humping the NCAA’s leg until someone finally “did something about those cheaters up north”, even when it meant implicating THEMSELVES in cheating as long as it resulted in OM being punished, only served to underscore this fact.

@@nevilleslightlylargerbotto1726 Dude, what are you talking about? It's called a rivalry, genius, and you seem to be equally obsessed. Ole Miss has finished last in the West at least the same number of times Miss State has over the past 20 years, if not more, which means Ole Miss folks are used to "sucking something awful" as well. State people know who they are. Ole Miss people don't. Both schools are bottom tier academically (Ole Miss people don't seem to know that, which is embarrassing) with below average endowments, below average test scores, high acceptance rates, and low graduation rates and middle of the pack, at best, athletically. But it took Ole Miss to hang a freakin' banner for finishing second in the West in football. All the while you were hiring Memphis prostitutes to recruit, and when crap hit the fan you threw your coach under the bus and whistled past the graveyard, like the class acts you are. In the modern era, Ole Miss has one NC in a major sport and you won it the year after Miss State won the same title. Ole Miss has zero NCAA Final Four appearances. At least State has one. Ole Miss's highest football ranking was #2... when Miss State was #1. Over the past 30 years State has a winning record against Ole Miss in all three major sports. So the more you insult State for sucking, the more you do in fact SUCK. As for being 5th in the nation right now, that's not going to win you anything. In 10 years, the only people who are going to remember Ole Miss being an 'also ran' are going to be Ole Miss people and State people.

We don't know if he knows how to run a program because we hired a first time HC who just happens to be a friend of the AD. That is where we messed up. So in regards to needing more money perhaps the school should have invested the money already given a little better than a first time HC and THIS roster.

Ole miss might make state irrelevant after this season, hate to say it but it’s true. No idea how they’re going to convince that small of a fanbase to push out that kind of money to compete with the top SEC schools. They don’t have the fan base, brand deals, or collective to keep up.

Why are people saying we can’t fire lebby?? Makes no sense..We should fire him immediately and hire texas states head coach..Jeff lebby hasn’t even proven he can be a head coach so how can we trust him to fix our program?? He might not be capable of fixing it even with 5 years..Trust me it’s gonna get worse..States gonna start losing funding and we aren’t gonna be able to use NiL to get good players..Lebby can’t recruit at a high level now because of how poorly he has done..Literally the only way to fix it is to fire lebby and hire a proven head coach and give him 3-4 years to build the program..If we keep lebby for more than two years we will never crawl out of the bottom of the SEC in this new era of college football..

He’s so bad we don’t even have to see the rest of the games..We are about to lose five straight 50+ to zero..Most likely losing to umass then closing out the season with three more blowout losses..It’s all fine giving a coach time but when he’s damaging the program internally he’s gotta go..The man ain’t gonna be able to recruit good athletes getting blown out every week and if he can’t recruit quality athletes there’s no path to a successful “rebuild” no matter how many years he gets. I like lebby and hope he proves everyone wrong but it ain’t looking like he’s cut out for being a HC..By november i’m pretty sure the rest of the fans will be calling for him being replaced. it’s bout to get humiliating.. But hail-State

There is no easy answer. I understand the notion that changing coaches again is a huge risk. So, yes, I get that. I don't think it is ideal. I also don't think "he gets three years no matter what" is a ridiculous plan as well. If we only win 2 games this year and 1 or 2 next year are we really going to give him a third year? And we are going to do that ONLY because we don't want to change coaches too fast? Would letting him stick around too long be better or worse than firing him too fast?
I don't know. What I know is that we dropped the ball hiring a first time HC and who just happened to be the buddy of the AD. I said it at the time of the hire and I've yet to see ANYTHING that makes me feel good about this.
I hope I'm wrong. I will wait and see and watch from the comfort of my home to see what happens before I spend another dime on gas to drive three hours for the program as it sits now.

Rebuilds and recruiting are not important now. Whats in the collective is whats important. Players are for sale and you have to pony up big time. State has never been a massive revenue producing football program and when I say that are you selling official , hats, tshirts, car tags, jerseys in california, texas, New York a la Georgia, Bama, Texas, etc. How much your program brings in from merchandising is more important than ticket sales. With that situation you are left to only what the boosters can pony up and that's a recipe for disaster.
