I lived in L.A. and was in the music biz during this time period for real, and the vibe and atmosphere was EXACTLY like this. Everyone was this phony, put-on, and insincerely “sincere”. Classic, brilliant film.
Brian Doom I have no doubt that his show of four fingers was not scripted, but who knows? When you see Kevin’s reaction after that, his face seems to suggest that he wasn’t totally expecting that, haha!
one of the greatest lines an any film and this is the best send up of Hollywood ever (which is no mean feat bc they LOVE to make movies about themselves)
Excellent film. Saw it at the theater. Now own it on Video and Downloaded! Great expose of Showbiz…BS, Temptation…people manipulating your vision. Luckily the film does have a happy ending. Sad real life story about the girl that played Nick’s GF though🙏
Oh.My.Gawd. Freakin awesome! Martin playing a gay character and saying "Bullshit" twice? Wow. The only other time I've heard him swear to that extent was in "Damages". Plus, the red hair instantly reminded me of his character, "Eugene" in "Pure Luck".

“My wife and I come here all the time…”👌🤣
Martin Short steals every scene he's in. He cracks me up.
"you're gonna get three people" (holds up four fingers)
...then he names five roles

Priceless! Genius!
"...well he seemed pleased, but beneath the surface I detected a certain sadness." EXCELLENT.
"I don't know you. I don't know your work. And I think you are a very talent young man." Genius!!
"and I'm never wrong about these things."
"I'm not talking to you...I'll call you."
One of the best scenes in a film, ever. Martin is PERFECTION!
One of the most underrated movies ever!
I’ll agree! It’s a quirky little film, but quite good.
Martin short has steadily become one of favorite comic voices of this era.
That stare is a completely awesome punchline to the scene.
Martin Short was brilliant in this scene.
1000th time I’ve watched this, new appreciate for Keith and his subtlety.
SO GOOD! The Recent Howard Stern Interview reminded me of this clip! They play it all the time!
"Look, Nick, I'm not going to bullshit you, because it's a waste of time and then it just becomes that THING..."
WTF? LOL
Love Martin Short. I think he made "that look" in almost every movie he was in.
"well he seemed pleased but beneath the surface i detected a certain sadness"
"hmmmm.." lol
one of the greatest lines an any film and this is the best send up of Hollywood ever (which is no mean feat bc they LOVE to make movies about themselves)
What a great, underrated film
That thousand-yard stare is what seals it for me.
they play this scene on howard stern's show all the time, and it never gets old.
I like how he holds the cigarette with his fingers totally relaxed.
Martin Short is, and always has been, a comedic genius, the dj
Greatest scene ever!!!!!
His hair and eyes alone crack me up...
I can't stop laughing at his facial expressions.
Martin Short"s interpretation was genius.
Sad that the "you're making a YUGE mistake" was left out of it
Don't you worry, Martin, hazel eyes look very beautiful, I must say.
I must say!
Is it really hazel though? I think it’s more greenish than hazel🤔
Such genius writing and performance…
Imagine Neil Sussman working around Jiminy Glick.
I too always hear this on Howard Stern & for the longest time wondered where it was from.. Brilliant !
Same. And I qoute it to my kids all the time
Hilarious. I love his face, this is such a fun character
I quote this character all the time without even thinking about it.
What a disgrace that this movie bombed at the box office. It couldn't have been better made, in every respect. Shame on America.
"I'm not talking to you. Hu-hu-hu-hu-hu!! I'll call you."
great scene!!
Martin Short is THE best!!
That is exactly what I was going to write - on both accounts. I bought this movie solely for this scene.
This is a documentary.
Classic scene... pretty sure Andy Dick studied this scene closely.
I'll have another Cointreau and sodee...
Ayeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
love this. great post.
OMG!! I am the waiter at the beginning of this scene.
And I'm the potted plant (00:48) in the corner of the patio.
My father, Mr. Sussman, potted that plant!
@@warnold909 where does he live?
The guy clearing the table? And did Kevin smell good? He looks like he would
Duncan Goins yes... don’t remember the smell. Real restaurant in studio city.
Excellent film. Saw it at the theater. Now own it on Video and Downloaded!

I never heard of this movie (I'm a fan of Martin Short) but I think Marty almost looks like Weird Al with a hairdo like that.
1:21 - Waiter Keith = angry ginger from Ferris Bueller's Day Off
From the Ben Stein scene?
Martin Short in "The Big Picture"
brilliant
I'm not going to bull shit you. I don't know you. I don't know your work. And I think you are a very, very talented man.
And someone had the nerve to write an article about how long are we going to put up with Martin Short basically saying he wasn’t funny
I miss this movie. I can't find it anywhere. What's surprising is that all this time, I didn't know that Jennifer Jason Leigh's in this
Dario Wirtha ,, hey , it is often on the movie channel 240 on Comcast, and I am still working on that cancer cure
+UrbanExplorer1000 ... this movie is on encore this month for old people that still pay for cable.
It is available via Amazon streaming ("free" to Prime customers).
0:10 - lol
Genius.
"And then it becomes like that thing." Ha! Nice.
That line makes me lol every time.😂😂
"My wife and I..." lol...PS: Keith was in Some Kind of Wonderful
"When you hire me, you're going to get three people (holds up four fingers)"
And then he lists five.
I read almost all of them almost all the way through...
That’s Hollywood!
Here from Fly on the Wall podcast?
I just read about this scene in Martin Short's book. Pretty funny.
Always wondered what happened to the actress in this film, Emily Longstreth
“I’m not gonna bullshit you.”
heven't you seen "get over it"? when he tells about Diana Rose? "And then BS, BS, BS, BS..."))))))
he is great)
absoltingfuckinhilarious!
My wife asks the same question. As do I.
Oh.My.Gawd. Freakin awesome! Martin playing a gay character and saying "Bullshit" twice? Wow. The only other time I've heard him swear to that extent was in "Damages". Plus, the red hair instantly reminded me of his character, "Eugene" in "Pure Luck".
But he has a wife?....😉
I am trying to find the scene where he is playing chess and they start eating the chess peices. Can't find it anywhere
lol. yeah, kevins eyes are pretty bluuuue :)
any one else think of Thom Yorke will watching this ?
What in the hell did I just watch?
Did you send over the "tort" (not tart)? Hilarious!!
Boudosaved Torte. Almond torte.
+NY OneLove Well aren't I a schmuck!!
Haha I'm not talking to you ill call ya lol
Martin Short scalped Annie and plopped his follicular trophy on his head before this scene was shot.
They don't play this movie nearly enough....Ghost stewardesses ha ha ha ha ha ha!
I just looked her up. Nothing. I think she may have quit acting in the 90s.
