Excuse my previous excitement gentlemen. (anyways I'm going back to Twitter to say 'I told you so to every mfer that said firaxis was a greedy company that would never give console the leader pass'.) My hands are ready to slap.
I wish it hadn't come out. While it's nice to have new leaders, it's crashed every 10 turns and sometimes crashes while loading a save, interrupting Sean Bean (punishable by death in my country). Also the Denounce option is now called "LOC_DIPLO_DENOUNCEGener..."
They also told me the Leader Pass was free if I owned all the other DLC. It was not....

You should get that fixed, but also the rest of us got it free so did you buy it immediately as it came out? There was a little delay between release and getting it free.
@@unclefred3128 Yes many game breaking bugs for me as well on Switch. I will try to revert to a previous version with an older switch I have, until they fix this thing. Really frustrating.
The buff with Lincoln is that Industrial Zones give Amenities (that was previously only for the base game).

Yes, it was simply meant to add consistency between the DLCs.
Lincoln has not been buff. He was already enjoying the +2 Amenity from Industrial Zone in the Gathering Storm gameset (which we thought were exclusive to his Standard / Rise&Fall gameset). So, they didn't improve him: they just fixed the description of his ability to match what he was enjoying ingame.
i swear they made this update and waited to announce it until you made the final tier list lol i swear every single time
Harald's '2 gold less maintenance' is actually awesome for early game, since it effectively makes Archers, Battering Rams and Swordsmen cost nothing to maintain and Berserkers only 1 gold, so it doesn't tank your income when you have a large City-State Army or a decent bulk of Archers sieging a city.
People really sleeping on that, It's basically like having "Levee en masse" for the entire game and means you have so much extra gold mid game and late game, if you use the policy card too your army costs next to nothing.
With Lincoln, they basically just merged his base game and dlc abilities, so instead of being really good in the base game because you get 2 amenities and bad with dlcs because it's just 3 loyalty and you also get a penalty for plantations, you now get both amenities and +/- loyalty. Then you still have the free unit stuff.
At this point I think Boes can summon Civ6 updates with his tierlists, you should try releasing a new tierlist in half a year just to test if it works
After checking the new achievements for the new leaders, I felt it was necessary to inform you that the cheevie for Yongle is in fact named "Live Yongle Reaction"
Julius Caesar should be really fun now on Marathon speed, where barb camps spawn constantly and legions stay relevant for ever
Boes, just make a "continuation video" where it picks up at the end of your previous tier list, then move people around where they need to!
For Caeser, regarding Barbarian Clans mode; I believe (though I could be wrong) Barbarian Clans is a free Game Mode and you actually don't need the New Frontier Pass to play it.
I don't think it's a coincidence that the Leader Pass dropped a week after Humankind finally came to consoles.

Firaxis are the best devs. They’ve done incredible work in this game. They put so much care and love into it. We love them for that.
But… boy oh boy, are we ready and waiting for Civ VII. Going to be a glorious day when they announce it

The Varangian Harald is low-key op ? Like, how is it going under the radar ?
To my knowledge, everyone else can only have influence points through governments/gov plaza.
You go wide and basically become an envoy machine, it's like so easy to be suzerains, no need for doubling shenanigans
I thought Varangian was pretty strong already tbh, especially on Deity where the city-states are harder to kill and start with more units. Given how strong Berserkers are on offense I was already thinking of him as the far superior Harald if you're not playing Archipelago or something.
Way cheaper units in general and more reliable suzerainty (especially with Monarchy, it'd be almost trivial to be getting 2 free envoy every 3-4 turns) might make him pretty silly.
Switch version has lots of bugs right now, lots of messed up text, and more crashes than usual, especially when trying to do diplomacy. I've been talking to others on Reddit and they've been experiencing the same thing.

Really like what this update does. I almost want to put Caesar and Trajan side by side as equals because they're both very good now with focuses on completely different playstyles that somehow both still fit the feel of the civ.
Still hoping for at least another patch or two. Play mostly on iOS as something to get a quick few turns in on the go/during down time at work and music from a lot of the civs that got an alternate leader in the leader pass just don't play. It was like this before this patch, and while I hoped a fix would be introduced alongside it, it sadly did not come with the balance updates.
I'll play a game as Korea and the only time I'll get music is in diplomatic screens. No music will play otherwise, and just ambient air noises and stuff. Not even other civs musics will play after meeting them in the main part of the game. I know I can just turn the music off, but I actually like quite a lot of it.
In game, Wu's tool tip still says offensive spies. I don't know if it's a typo or not, but her other changes are listed correctly.
Noticed that too. I was also hoping for some music fixes because I play on iOS and a lot of the civs that got an alternate leader in the Leader Pass just don't have music that plays anymore. You'll still get other civs music in diplomatic screens, but then it'll just be ambient noise like the wind blowing when you're doing the meat of the game while playing as civs like Norway or Korea.
Latest patch introduced all the balance changes but didn't fix that, and I'm still hoping there's patches left to get it done.

Dude, I didn't even see the normal XP thing on Julius. That has to be huge right? Like Civ V barb grinding is back? Like, with most civs you can only really get one level easily against barbs due to the exp falloff mechanics with barbs, but Julius just always getting normal XP means you could fully promote early units if you just leave a barb camp up to grind. Obviously would need to do some stuff for AI not to ruin your fun, but imagine having fully promoted armies in mid-game. I guess they probably aren't as powerful as I am making them sound, but uh, bigger number better person and all that.
Also, as some others have noted, Lincoln always had the +3 loyalty from I.Z. the buff being that I.Z. now give +2 amenities as well, which could be huge if you need to push for happy or ecstatic for those buffs.
yeah i didn't see the xp thing either until someone here pointed it out to me, i just glossed over it. that's actually pretty strong~
I’m playing a culture game with Julius; the snowballing from farming barb camps is amazing, and the full xp fighting the barbs makes your units complete beasts

I think you missed a big part of the Julius Caesar trait, all units receive normal xp when targeting barbarians. You can get the second promotion way faster now just by targeting barbarians. i feel like it could be a good early game war strat to get a bunch of money and xp from barbs and push towards a civ.
Came to say this. The money is nice, but the xp is the real buff.

I have been using Julius Caeser in Barb Clans mode ever since he got that buff and I've been getting 335 Gold every 10 turns just by using two warriors next to a Barb Outpost

I feel like any leader who has bonuses to spies has the same issue. In single player spies are almost only good defensively. The AI barely have things you can use spies on.
Mainly good for stealing gold or getting tech unlocks with babylon

Hello boe. Have you tried playing julius after the update? I actually tried playing him and he is so broken with barbarian clans. I don't know if it's a bug but I am getting 1020 gold every ten turns when I raid a barbarian camp. I am already not speding production on units, granaries and monument and I am just purchasing them with gold. Another broken thing if you spawn camp a camp, is that julius gets normal exp when fighting a barbarian. So you potentially earn gold and exp just by spawning a camp.
I play on both console and pc and while i prefer pc for the overlay mods and whatnot to improve the base game. But i honestly find on console i learn more about the game as a whole so kind of 50/50 personally.
Yes!! I also agreed that it was never coming to consoles. I was excited hearing about it coming and got my gf to download for me so I could play when I first got home from work. I'm looking forward to playing again today
I think the Lincoln buff was a technical thing. Might have been difficult to code on console the different effect depending on game mode so they said fuck it he gets both.
I have the anthology bundle on Xbox but I don’t have the leader pass. Filed a report with 2k support and they asked for video proof. So I sent it and they have ghosted me for the past 2 days

I wanted to object to where you said you'd place Caesar, but then I remembered that your tier list is without game modes. Without barb clans mode, I agree with you but with barb clans mode he's absolutely bonkers. Farming 3 barb camps and getting the equivalent of ~100 gold per turn + all the experience, which you can then spend on barb units is just nutty. By the end of the ancient era you're on par or beating the AI's military score and can just roflstomp whoever you want.

Anyone know if they fixed the crashing on consoles with this update (Xbox, etc.)? Apparently, this is a widespread issue that has been going on for quite some time now.

PC is the best platform for civ but I don’t have my computer anymore. I miss it a lot but civ is on ps+ so I recently bought anthology dlc for $20. That’s the entire game for $20 plus my monthly ps subscription. Not a bad deal. I hope they continue to balance the game for a long time.
In consoles, I think it is included with the Anthology pass? So if you buy the Anthology this is automatically unlocked???

I know it sounds crazy but I love this game on the switch. It’s slower for sure, but playing anywhere laid back is the way Civ was meant to be played
When you want to do a domination victory but your tired of turns taking multiple minutes to wait for yours again so you just do a science victory as well and which ever finishes first is how we are winning this. Just did that with Sparta.

Honestly, i dont think this is the final balance patch. The devs did say there's more civ celebrations to come, so im hoping there will be a few more balance patches to buff some civs (cough cough Gilgamesh) and nerf others (hammurabi and jayavarman)

Great that there is a new update but since I loaded up my game today (on switch) there are a whole lot of text issues or something like I can't read my climate accords because it's all in code now and if I go to the menus with the civs and go to the second bar it closes the game...
Ok now I'm worried about it while I'm sitting and waiting for the update.

@@Battletoad22 just surprise war the ai it's fine. Of course I'd like to be able to read what some of the governor abilities are. It's definitely playable but this shit does need fixed
@@TainyaGaming for me I can't even hover over the denounce spot if I accidentally flick to it to go to trades or whatever I completely crashed the game it sucks. Plus it just randomly crashed on me last night I have no clue why. And yeah same as you I can't read that stuff plus any of the global events are all in code and can't even figure them out as well as voting I can't see what they have voted for anymore...

finally able to download Leader Pass on Switch today. every time I checked before now it was asking for money, but it's finally available as a free download, at least for me. I look forward to playing it but unfortunately the game is incredibly crashy and buggy at the moment.

The switch port is so laughably bad after the patch. Literally half the menu options display their variable names instead of values like LOC_DIPLO_CHOICE etc

I just can't get into Civ 6, I think it is the art style. I find it hard to look at and follow compared to civ 5. I bought it when it came out years ago on PC, probably played it a few times every year or so, its just hard to watch/follow for me. I hope when Civ 7 comes out, for PC and/or console, it looks good but they go back to the old art/graphics style of the past.

Julius Ceasar is gonna be awesome to play now. He generates a lot of gold which he can use to buy 2-3 settlers early and then buy/upgrade units the game progresses. He’s the best Roman leader now imo.
Trajan is still way clear, a free monument in all cities is just way to good. I do agree that Julius is a lot better than he was just not as good as Trajan.
@@roelanski1266 I think they're about equal now personally. It really depends on the desired playstyle. It's really neat actually because both leaders now emphasize different aspects of Rome. Caesar perfectly wants you to focus on the Imperialism and Militarism famous to his era of Rome, and Trajan being famous for social welfare and building up the Roman Empire internally leans into a playstyle focused on building and culture.
@@roelanski1266 I think you're really underestimating just how good Julius is now. Clear 1 barb camp and you can outright buy a settler. Clear 2 and you can probably afford to buy a second settler too. The tempo control with Julius is insane. I can consistently get 4 cities out before turn 30. After that clearing barb camps isn't all that important anymore. 4 cities before turn 30 is all you need to start outpacing the AI. Plus, Julius outscales Trajan all day; Trajan only gets a free monument in cities Rome founds. Settler spam has diminishing returns; by you 7th-8th settler the free monument is hardly worth the investment in settlers whereas with Julius conquering cities has no diminishing returns. The more cities you conquer the easier it gets to conquer more; I find myself just straight up buying armies with all the gold I'm getting.
Clearly Trajan is more suited to a peaceful builder playstyle and Julius is the clear favorite for domination and they both perform well in those regards but I'd argue that even when played peacefully Julius is still rather strong due to how quickly he can reliably get those first 4 cities out.

Civ 6 is broken on all the consoles after update, plus it isn't giving leaderpass for free like it says for people who have all other content. Another horrible rollout.

@@legendofboss5898 playing on Switch, and whenever you go to the diplomacy trade screen with another civ, the denounce button is broken, showing the file name instead of denounce. 90% of the time, the game crashes within seconds of you pulling up that screen.
They also broke the Switch version of the game, unfortunately.
Fun fact: I ran a game on Wu Zeitan, rushed the spy and literally every single one of my spies DIED on their first mission. Still won thanks to the great wall
