  • If you have mould appearing on your ceilings, try this technique to rid it for once and for all. Firstly find out why it might be happening, it could be from wet laundry or damp bath towels or tree branches hanging over the corner of the house, but most commonly occurs when the steam from the hot showers cannot escape and causes moisture that retains on the surface. So you should ensure adequate ventilation, in this instance the exhaust fan is blocked and cannot clear the steam. Over time mould will form. Well thats my opinion anyway. I added VC175 Tropical Strength Mould Killer to my paint raios can be found on the packaging depending on the sizes you purchased. VC175 Tropical Strength Mould Killer is a powerful, long lasting mould and algae killer which can be added to a wide range of products such as paint, timber stains, textured coatings, grout, mortar and adhesives to prevent the formation of mould and mildew.. Can be added to water based and solvent based paints and stains Can be added to mortar, grout, textured coatings, fillers & adhesives. It is advisable to always mix a small sample first to check if it blends with the paint. Firstly personal protective wear! Gloves mask eye protection! Window ventilation at minimum! Buy Astonish mild and mouldew spray! Not just ordinary bleach! Secondly do not rub or scrap or sand!! Let the mould and mildew do the work! Once it's removed the spores , again ppe ventilation! Wipe clean with hot water! Dry the room out with a heater for a couple hours! 24 hours later ready to be painted with anti mould paint (dulux). Remember to ventilate there after every bath or shower!

Plain cheap white vinegar kills the mould. Bleach just takes the colour out but still leaves the mould spores alive and they grow back. Spray it on with pump spray pack and leave for a bit then wipe the whole surface with cloth and warm water. And i have a 15lt drum of Taubmans Endure exterior low sheen in 1/4 lexicon that I do those bathroom repaints in. Stinks a bit but good for keeping clean.

@@lujangaming2354 I use straight white vinegar but it will stink a bit so just spray it on heavy then leave it for a bit before wiping off with clean warm water. Ventilate the room if you can.

Follow these instructions at own risk. Sanding can send spores everywhere. There's no fan in the window to blow spores out. No talk about wearing mask or sealing the room.

Whenever u have mold on any building materials, u should remove it completely because it can grow through the material. So just wiping it off does not remove the actual spores and u will still have mold.

That bathroom ceiling is not properly done right (not taped/meshed). By leaving it that way, it will attract moisture and the problem will be back again.

Moisture causes the mold to grow. Clean out that ceiling fan and it should keep your bathroom much drier after showers. It’s clearly clogged with junk.
