    Thank you so much for sharing this! I just discovered MBTP and we really love it but it’s so hard to find reviews on it!

    I decided to go with MBTP 5-7 for LA, SS and science! I’m still doing our own parts of LA though like reading and spelling. I really hope it’s feasible. ❤

      Yay! Unsolicited advice: I would try one thing at a time rather than everything at once. It’s much less overwhelming that way. You’ve got this! 🫶🏻

      @@ddchomeschool thanks 😊 we’ve been doing reading math and handwriting for a bit now so this will be icing on the cake for us. I’ve already learned to take it day by day.

    I'm interested to know which Concept uses the attribute blocks. I noticed it was required for 5-7 but did not specify.
    We are currently working through age 4-5 and 5-7 math with a gifted 4 yo. I want to slowly move up but I am a little worried about the workload required. Thank you, noting which concepts are manageable for younger ages.

      I am guessing it’s for the math, since I’m not seeing those listed on the S/SS/LA page:
      www.movingbeyondthepage.com/purchase/sku-detail/2870/age-5-7-materials-kit-s-ss-la/
      I feel like there is a lot of room to adjust to your student, which is one of my favorite things about MBTP!

    Does this program work well with struggling readers?

    • @ddchomeschool
      @ddchomeschool  Месяц назад

      I think you could easily make everything read aloud and oral questions versus written. There are different worksheet options for each activity, which could also work well!

    What’s your thoughts on the math now that you’ve completed this level? I rewatched all your other math videos and didn’t catch what you said about it overall in review. I’ve only ever done Saxon math for my older kids.. levels k through 6/5 so far. Nervous to go rogue and try something new but this math program looks fun.

      So, we have done Saxon & Singapore, and with both what I felt was lacking was teacher support. MBTP offers very straightforward teacher support, integrated online activities that enforce the concepts, hands on activities to introduce and practice the concepts, and it’s just “normal” math- the stuff we did as kids. If that makes sense? I absolutely love it!!! So far we’ve done 5-7, 6-8, 7-9, and 8-10 (at least some of each). I can’t speak to the older levels yet, but if you’re unhappy with Saxon I would look at the free samples they are now offering on their website. The one piece of advice I have to offer is to try and do all of the lessons as written. So if it says to get straws and do xyz, then do that. Or if it says to read a book then do this online game, do that. Following these different modalities is really what makes MBTP math shine, IMO. And yes, I’ve had to learn that the hard way! It’s not easy to do these things with 6 kids! But I’ve really prioritized it and it’s made SUCH a difference! My 10 yo is testing in the 94th percentile for math! 🙌

      Wow! Thank you for such a thoughtful response. Don’t get me wrong, we really do like Saxon but I’m a little bored if you know what I mean haha. My two older ones utilize Nicole the math lady so that helps on my end for teaching (I also have a big fam; 5 kids). This just looks so engaging and fun. How long would you say each lesson takes you to complete on a daily basis while incorporating all the components? My only hesitation is that Saxon is all I know, and it gave my older two a really solid foundation and lots of practice if we needed it. I’m not a fan of supplementing and having to find extra practice from another source. I like it when the curriculum has a ton to choose from and have the extra built in if we need it. Ok rant over haha. Thank you again. 🥰

      I totally know what you’re saying! I felt dissatisfied before I found this. Lessons probably take about 30 minutes on the longer end or for more complicated concepts. I have outsourced math starting in middle school for my older 3 kids, but am seriously considering doing MBTP math until my son ages out, I am enjoying it so much! You definitely do not need to supplement, there is tons of practice available: worksheets, hands on projects, online games, and online assessments! It’s like everything all in one.
      I would try the free online sample & see how you like it if you’re still on the fence. Then you can really compare it in terms of what you have to do on a daily basis, you know?

      Oh I am! I have been using this on the side over the past two years, one unit at e time. Once I realized we had completed almost the whole year’s worth of curriculum, I thought I would share my thoughts!
