i just checked, looks like he picked himself up another 60s strat... a nice worn one... man's been a rockstar for 30 years, i bet he's got a fat collection of 60s strats

I heard that it was one of Jimi's strats that someone loaned to him for the gig. It would make sense because if you look closely it has a strap button on the bottom horn i.e. it was played lefty
the white strat is a refin he rented in south america and then bought off of whoever he rented it from. I believe Rock n Rio 2001 was where it first showed up.
I feel the exact same way about the white falcon. And honestly, the end of “white braids“ really threw me because I thought I heard a Bigsby, but the Jaguar makes perfect sense. Great video as always.
I don’t think it was a loaner. I believe Vincent Gallo picked this guitar out for him as he did with some others. See here: It's a 1955 Gretsch White Falcon, John found this guitar through Vincent Gallo, and the inspiration for it supposedly comes from Matthew Ashman who played one in his new wave band “BowWowWow”, and also from Malcolm Young who played a similar model with AC/DC. “ He [Vincent Gallo] found me a lot of things. At this point he’s found me pretty much a whole recording studio! As far as guitars go, he’s found me my 1955 Gretsch White Falcon, which is the nicest guitar I have, I think. “
BtW guys if you haven't seen the Ryan Hewitt interview talking about UL a couple months ago, It's on youtube and great. IT talks about JOhn basically being the engineer, amongst other things like recording the 48 tracks. I forget the channel but it's a studio channel, give it a search!
SG2000 most likely. the late 70s models were done with the fancy inlays, push / push pull split coil humbuckers, and a brass block under the tail piece. the 1500s had dot inlays, no push/pull, and a chrome block. HOWEVER the 1500s were redesigned in the 80s to include the neck inlays so it really is a toss up.
@@darkomac3663 i don't know but i heard that surprisingly it didn't belong to him so he gave it back. That info comes from a french vintage guitar dealer. I wondered if it's not Gallo, the person who found that guitar for him but apparently it's not him. The sg les paul custom was sold though.
For me, the Tele will always be the Parallel universe Guitar live at Slane.

The SG1500 doesn’t haven’t a brass plate in it which makes it lighter, and in an old interview John said he had a green 1500.
