What is an Aurora? | My Top Captures of Nature's Most Spectacular Light Show 【4K】

- The Aurora borealis in the north and the Aurora australis in the south are seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres.
The aurora is caused by the collision between charged particles from the sun (solar wind) and the Earth's atmosphere.
They release energy in the form of light, creating the beautiful, colourful displays that we see.
They commonly appear as curtains of light but also as arcs, spirals, and rays.
Green is the most common colour seen and is produced when solar particles collide with oxygen molecules.
Red appears when solar particles react with oxygen at higher altitudes.
Blue, purple, and pink are seen less frequently, and they tend to appear when solar activity is high and particles react with nitrogen at lower altitudes.
Locations in the north and in winter are generally good times to view the lights because of the longer periods of darkness.
Auroral activity varies with the solar cycle, which peaks approximately every 11 years.
Viewing the Aurora is a breathtaking experience that leaves a lasting impression on those who witness it.
It's no wonder why it's often included in many people's bucket lists.
As the most spectacular display of light in nature, I recommend everyone take the opportunity to witness it at least once in their lifetime.
Thank you for watching!

It has been a little while since I have done a video on the Aurora and with some of the increased activity lately, I decided to put together a video explaining a bit more on what they are and some of my top captures over the last couple years. I hope you enjoy this look at nature's most breathtaking light show and I wish you luck in chasing the Aurora for your own chance to experience them. If you guys are interested I would like to do a tutorial on the process of capturing these lights. If that is something you would enjoy, go to the community tab and vote in the poll or leave a comment below. Thanks!
Aren't they spectacular recently? They've been dancing in the sky most evenings for the last few weeks. And super bright. Thanks for the share.
Yes they are! I wasn't able to capture the most recent amazing show due to full cloud cover where I live but that is how it is.
Great video Showing off this amazing natural phenomenon. Awesome filming of this magical light show. 😎🤩🤩😊
Thanks so much I appreciate it. Love capturing it. It is challenging and so rewarding when you capture a great show.
Gosh that’s gorgeous. Such a surreal and magical sight. Thank you for sharing!
I remember seeing the lights as a kid one winter in southern Alberta. It was green and filled a portion of the sky. It didn’t dance like this, not as varied, but it left such an impression - I can still feel the cold and smell the winter air when I think of it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes some of these shows turn into something unreal. I just love going out and sitting in the dark and quiet and waiting for a show. Very calming experience.
Very interesting and educational video regarding Aurora. Great job, Wade 😃👍🏼 Worth watching till the end!
Thanks so much!
Great captures and clear explanation of what's going on up there. :) Thanks for providing this!
wow such a beautiful experience
It always is! I never get tired of it.
I've seen the aurora quite a few times. The best was looking out over Georgian Bay and seeing it reflected in the water. It is always mesmerizing.
That is great you have been able to witness them. It never gets old no matter how many times I see them.
Watching it through this video brought tears to my eyes! I hope to have the chance to see it in person
Oh I really hope you get that chance one day!
Hi Wade you are right that we should witness this, it's so beautiful. Thank you for all of the information in the description box, this was brilliant to see :) ~ Anna
It is! I never get tired of a good show. One benefit of where I live is the increased odds of seeing them. Thank you!
OOOHHH Stunning wonder🔝💥, thanks very much Wade
Glad you enjoyed it!
Pretty awesome, Wade. These lights are on my bucket list to see. Well done on your footage. So beautiful. We have an Alaskan cruise scheduled for next July. Hopefully we will be lucky enough to see them when we go. Take care and have a great day.
I never get tired of seeing them. I hope you get the chance! Would love to visit Alaska one day. Take care buddy!
Hi Wade. Fabulous aurora footage! Must be a wonderful experience to be out in the country to experience such beautiful light shows. I need to try to catch a aurora show one of these days. Well done, my friend as always 👍. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week 😀.
These are amazing shots! I've never been able to properly capture the Aurora before.
Beautiful capture. It would be a sight to be there where this was happening but this video looks as real as it gets great video and the music is right on.
Thank you very much! I have also missed so many great shows recently because of cloud cover or other reasons. It can be challenging to film.
Gorgeous wade ,they saw auroras in the Amherst NS ,this week ,,it must be so nice to see this
Yes a couple of those shows people were seeing them very far south. I never get tired of it.
Hi Wade. Thank you for another Great Video on the Aurora Borealis. It has either been cloudy out or I find out about it the next day. I always think about Robert Service poems when it comes to the Northern Lights. Keep up the Great Work.
Thanks so much! I missed the latest amazing show myself due to full cloud cover. It can be a tricky one sometimes.
Great idea for a video, you have some amazing footage Wade.
I would love know how you capture the lights. Yes please to tutorial video. 👍🍀
Thanks very much always appreciate it! I will look into the tutorial for sure.
Live in the UK have never seen one would love to. Wade another stunning video thank you X much love x
Very nice
Thank you!
I’m in alberta just outside Calgary and from what I heard the aurora on Monday were the most bright ever seen this far south. Sadly it was over cast for me and I couldn’t see them.
Yes there are few that are that good so far south. It is great that so many more got to witness it in other areas that don't normally get to see. Even I couldn't see the latest amazing show due to full cloud cover. That is the way it goes sometimes.
*Nice explanation of the factors impacting the colors. 👍👍How often do these occur?*
My middle name is AURORA & my 1st name is Gloria 🛣😇💖🥰💨🌬🎶🤍
