I'd actually want to see a food critic not knowing who Josh is, trying his food. Like "some aspiring chef made this, do you think he has potential?" and see a totally blind reaction.
Agreed! But I don't think you could use Monster as the base ingredient for something like that lmao
Yea this seemed already very bias
Gordon Ramsay
@@markmuth2498 I think you could still use something like Monster. See if they mention any unusual flavors, or even better yet, see if anyone can identify it.
While I agree, I think it’s harder to do that while also incorporating a Bit which is obviously what they were going for here. I also think that, at this point, Josh is pretty well known in the industry? At least in the LA area?
Farley is very funny and his deadpan humor complements Josh's chaotic golden retriever personality. I'd love for this to be a series.
Oh PLEASE that would be amazing! Farley would always be welcome in my eyes!
He did completely miss all the Brawndo references tho...🤔
AHH I see you have also watched BoJack horseman 😂😂
@@AmericanHothead I don't think he did actually miss the references LOL because he laughed at the set up and did the follow-up "do you even know what electrolytes are?"
I have never known how to describe Josh's personality, but golden retriever I feel kind of hits the nail on the head in the weirdest way possible and i love it 😂
I love how josh is actually following good food hygiene now that he's cooking for someone who is not in the mythical crew lol
How is he usually? I've been watching GMM for years but I recently just started watching this channel now.
@@Mgkatie19xx Josh is pretty blasé when it comes to keeping the counter clean or properly putting ingredients where they need to go in general. Like he'll pretty consistently toss flour willy-nilly into a stand mixer and only get like half the flour into the bowl, he'll use a whisk or a spatula and just leave it dripping all over the counter. Don't even get me started on him encouraging Keith with the chicken chopping thing during their KFC Pot Pie episode. As someone who likes things neat and orderly, it freaks me out sometimes, but Josh's sheer golden retriever energy and charisma make up for it.
as he whips out a spoon for the guy eating from his pocket lmao
@@krissclass and rolled the grapefruit all over his arms right before zesting it lol
@Jabogers I know what you’re saying, but he still has better food hygiene that a lot of actual chefs. The things that go on behind closed doors in restaurants are pretty unbelievable.
This is just Josh's long con to try and get Gordon Ramsey on the show
I think us and Josh would all lose our collective minds
I feel like Guy Fieri is who Josh REALLY would want.
It's "try to," not "try and." Not hating on you, just letting you know.
@@englishatheart It's whatever people use and whatever people understand. Language is fluid, always has been. Try and stop it.
@@englishatheart grammar is a useless construct
"Thighs Fieri" sounds like a banging Chicken Dish.
This is an underrated comment
This is the CLEANEST I've ever seen Josh's cooking station.
He was hopped up on Monster the whole time, what do you expect?
He acted the way any of us would if royalty dropped by -- on best behaviour. Reminded me of those white house correspondent dinners where the comedians poke fun, but you can see em sweating bullets 😉
It's kinda like when you go to the dentist, you brush your teeth and floss better than usual before 😂
I’d love to see Josh on Chopped. He just seems like he would be good at using random ingredients to make something great!
He's been training for it for years using these random ingredients for the mythical team. He's also not afraid to try things no matter how gross which I respect.
The only detriment I could see is the time.
@@damon9443 but he can operate under pressure. some one like him vs gordon ramsay would be an ultimte battle
He’d be super fast too I feel like he’s finish before the timer each time
He’d
I feel that if we were in a post apocalyptic world, I'd need Josh on my team---he'd be like, all we found were a boot, some swamp water and raisins and he'd give us a delicious three course meal.
Don't give rhett any ideas
Thigh-Fieri is your mid-panic apocalypse bud, who can do all the (literal) heavy lifting and morale
Josh the 'anti-Ramsay' however... Once you've stockpiled all the canned stuff, high-preservative foods, found a few wild mushroom & herb patches. Then he's your bushcraft *_post_* apocalypse pal ❤
I love how Trevor had the energy of a 6-year-old being told to run out and get the paper.
Lol true and side note let me be the first to say I LOVE your pfp 🖖🏻
@@XxFluffyxX 🖖🏻 Live long and prosper.
"You notice I didn't pepper the fish. Josh why didn't you pepper the fish. I dunno"
4-5 minutes later
"You know, even just kind of a peppercorn punch or just a little bit more heat I think would make this dish really kind of elevate to the next level"
Sichuan peppercorn would have gone well with that fish
Yep Josh, edible flowers just means that you can eat them without getting sick, not that they taste good :P
It's one reason I question their use on cakes lol 😂😆
@@Kruhee I will say, a candied flower can be great on cakes. I've definitely seen just regular edible flowers as garnishes on cocktails and while it looks pretty, it being put on something consumable invites it to be eaten and it is not pleasant when you try it (as Josh has discovered here)
Edible flowers can be ok, but you have to get the kind that aren't densely packed, something very delicate and petally, he ate something daisy like and that's very green and dense/heavy and will taste like grass lol
There are some types that do have a good taste, but then you need to look for specific flowers.
I find violets, rose petals, nasturtium and sorrel very tasty. The flowers of wild onion, obviously, taste like onion.
I like how no one acknowledged how josh did the tricks with the grapefruit they threw at him 😂😂😂
I was looking for your comment lol... Thought the same thing.
Yea that was sick.
It's one of his little skills. They've shown it in a few episodes. But yeah, it's pretty good. 😎👍
I said "WTF" out loud
They probably see it all the time lol
“Pumped out of the core of the earth by evil goblins,” destroyed me. This dude is hilarious
"If I actually knew how to run"
I like the balance of his dry humor against Josh's zaniness.
"no head at the table"
"Let's watch it..."
"Oh, familiar, huh?"
I thought I was going to die laughing.... Highlight of the entire episode
I think he said "too familiar" as in the chef was getting too familiar with the critic and they should keep it professional. Might be wrong though
@@misterscottintheway yeah I’m pretty sure that’s what he said. Still a hilarious comment to the joke though.
@@misterscottintheway was about to reply this lol
@@misterscottintheway I thought it was more like he was insinuating he was used to getting head at the table.
@@johnvavryshko7241 For a few reasons I think it's the other thing but I've been wrong before
I don't think there's any question that Josh can make tasty food, but passing a health inspection on the other hand, that's the real test...
As someone who has worked in a kitchen before... no one would want to work for him in an actual working kitchen.
@@SultanFilmwhy?
Great premise, kind of like a less gross Food Fears. I would like to see a lot more of these with various critics and other chefs to critique Josh's brain children.
I would agree like random example is bugs like the arts that tastes like citrus fruits or here's a crazy one that famous stinky cheese you see on tv in cartoons and so on idk it's name also one of my food fears gorgonzola cheese that one would be hard to make me like it because it's so strong flavor cheese I tryed it on salad and it dont work for me maybe Jose came help me by show me a different way to get a better response to it ?
@@darknessofcoy, if you don't like strong cheese, especially blue veined cheese, there is no presentation that will make you.
Josh rule #69: No head at the dinner table.
14:18 "But, what I also is, have had gonna do..." - Josh of the Mythical Kitchen 2021
I love how Josh prompts Farley to really critic the dish and where it can improve. I find that type of analysis really interesting
Josh missed his opportunity when Farley asked, "What is an electrolyte?"
"It's what plants crave.."
No, he nailed the opportunity, he’s just better at references than you
Pretty sure that's what he was getting at
Making a good reference involves playing off of it, not just citing the reference. Josh and Farley added their own brand of humor to the joke, they didn't miss a single thing
sad that i looked for the comment praising the reference and only found this
Brawndo’s got what plants crave.
Not surprised in the slightest. I always believed Josh was a great cook and knew that when he tried (and wasn't just goofing off like in the Fancy BK episode lol) he'd be able to make a great dish on the spot. He has lots of innovative creations, he just likes to play around a lot but when he's trying he's great
To be fair, any time he works with Emily it is going to be 75% goofing off just because they make each other laugh so much. That isn’t a criticism because the Emily episodes are some of the best Mythical Kitchen episodes.
@@kenlangston3451 yeah but that's my point. you know he wasn't trying to make GOOD food in that episode, it was just meant to be FANCY regardless of how good it was. but this time he was actually trying so of course it was great lol
Trevor's "Kid On Christmas Morning" enthusiasm is a whole entire mood!
Trevor is a treasure to behold🖤
I wish something had given me what enthusiasm as a kid.
I’m getting flashbacks to doing inventory with my old head chef and him saying “Radish, you know, the kinda cool vegetable. Cuz it’s rad-ish, get it?”
I had my doubts on how those dishes would turn out, but then Josh did the mash.
... He did the monster mash
It was a palm heel strike
@@iantaakalla8180 it was an allium bulb smash
We need more stories about Josh's Grandma's enjoyment of Beets.
" Monster Energy: Pumped straight from the core of the Earth by our evil goblins!"
There's actually a group of people who believe that the Monster Energy logo is the Mark of the Beast!
The mango loco monster actually does have mango juice in it, so really it’s real mango flavor with monster chemicals in it
That's how it gets monsters signature taste 😉
Tastes sickeningly sweet
the way “sehck” gets progressively more guttural is absolutely killing me 😂
I love that Josh going all out for a critic is the same Josh we see in every video.
As a Vietnamese person, wow that halibut meal is honestly not far from how I've prepared catfish and some American styled sushi rolls for my boyfriend before. The use of mango monster is tempting.
Josh: "No head at the dinner table"
Me: "mouth spray coffee everywhere"
Wow, Farley is hilarious, like just as funny as Josh. They're a great pair. And he's a fair judge but not overly critical.
The fact that you never called the Monster concentrate "Monsentrate" makes me slightly sad
As a viet american I love how much Josh loves Vietnamese fish sauce and viet ingredients! all I can think about is being in elementary school and being scared to bring viet food for lunch because other kids would think it’s weird. Now that I’m 28 and an adult it makes me super happy to see the ingredients get appreciated and used!
I love that they brought an outside critic to have some fun with Josh's ideas, hoping they can do this type of segment more often
Josh's culinary nemesis, Gordon Ramsay, should be on here to judge his food.
Original monster flavor is sour apple. Using its concentrate to flavor baked goods or a sweet slaw would be nice also maybe in a sweet and sour pork dish
I have drank an embarrassingly high amount of Monster in the past 10 years, but I never knew it was sour apple flavor.
And that's why I hate the green one then. It tastes like medicine to me. Any of the other ones are great.
Edit: I hate green apple everythinf
@@hopfritx5045 I just dislike apples in general because I had them way too much as a kid (mostly from being stuck on a clear liquid diet when I was very sick)
Q. "Why did you choose that fish?" A. "Just for the Halibut."
Josh is just flexing at 23:44 and I don’t mind it one bit
It’s like being at hibachi. They should open a restaurant and instead of the grill it’s just Josh with a grapefruit
12:38 - This is the best description of Monster I have heard in my life and the most logical explanation of why I peed fluorescent piss after eight cans of it
After 8? I get fluorescence after 1.
b12 vitamins baby. Water soluble = Fluorescent piss
@@saxdemonsjs571 Damn, never would've guessed. Thank you for handing me a scientific argument if I ever start chugging Monsters again :')
I gotta say, I'd be happy if this became a regular segment. Farley is hilarious and I love how Josh behaves when trying to impress someone.
Beet powder fun fact, if you accidentally drop a couple kilos on the ground sweep before mopping.... or you'll be mopping for hours if not days as it turns everything purple
we need more Farley episodes in here, like a Josh, Nicole, V, and Trevor competition and he decides who wins??
"...Not something that has been pumped out of the core of the Earth by evil goblins."- Ive never heard something so accurate about Monster
Am I the only one who thinks Farley should be a series regular, not a weekly sr (like Emily -and her many characters- or Trevor) or a fortnightly sr (like Vi or Nicole -on screen-). However maybe a monthly or quarterly visit would be good
I really want to see Josh on an episode of Chopped or Cutthroat Kitchen tbh
It's a damn Shame Cutthroat Kitchen ended
I have a feeling that the time limit would really get in Josh's way.
how is everyone gonna just pretend like josh didn't just prove his status as a globetrotter candidate in the middle of cooking?
I think we can appreciate that even on his best behavior, with the stakes of impressing a local critic, Josh _still_ *_...hand..._* cooked the fish, in true Mythical Kitchen spirit.
Like of course your chef is gonna touch your food. But the image of watching him man handle that fillet is still a little squick 😂
the way Josh manipulates monster energy drink is a mood
"What where was that?? service staff!!!!" that's what chef's say the most 😂😂😂
this was great. he gave a firm and genuine critique while enjoying the playfulness of this show. hope to seen him back!
I was taking culinary classes at my local community college years ago, and one of my instructors dream and goal was to become the official Red Bull Chef. He didn't know if such a position existed, but he really wanted to cook as many interesting things as he could with Red Bull (and have them pay him for it). He really felt that the energy drink would lend itself well to both sweet and savory applications. This episode reminded me so much of that.
This would be such a great series to continue for the mythical kitchen team.
Man farley needs to be a constant feature on the channel. hes not snobby yet funny and wholesome. i could easily watch a series with these guys.
this is amazing. Josh is incredible at doing one thing, talking about another, and thinking ahead all at the same time all while being really funny.
Josh: points to pan “We got a pan and that’s good cuz that’s what you cook things in” 😂
This is such a fantastic video! Farley has such a great blend of mythical kitchen compatible wild energy and and elegant writer energy
this is so good! I love Josh and Farley's banter, hope y'all do more of these!
"things that have been pumped out of the core of the earth by evil goblins." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hearing Trevor laugh at Josh in the back of the set is rapidly becoming one of my favorite parts of these episodes
The electrolytes bit reminds me of Brawndo from Idiocracy😂😂😂Plants crave it man
Farley was great! Such a fun balance between him and josh. Loved his deadpan humor as many mentioned. Would enjoy seeing him more.
I love how authentic Josh is during this!
Josh: We got an unbiased food critic
Josh: Do you think I can do it?
Critic: I don't
Oh yeah he really is unbiased.
What was he supposed to say? "I don't know"? Because if he had said he thought Josh could do it, that wouldn't be unbiased either.
@@englishatheart Yes
@@englishatheart yes he's supposed to say the option that's not biased if he claims to be not biased. Are you forgetting both sides are considered biased? So yes we expect people who claim to not be biased to not be biased
@@englishatheart You're very right. I wonder if the critic instead were to say "Yes", would people comment that's biased still or just praise how Josh is that good that a critic believes Josh is that good or just don't say anything at all. I sense it would be the second option
This might be my favorite video on the Mythical Kitchen channel. Great job 👏
"It's got electrolytes" 🤣 top tier
josh i really enjoy your sense of humor, definitely glad youre a part of the mythical team
"Not pumped out of the Earth by Goblins" - Farley, 2021
I love the “idiocracy” joke at the start, very niche considering the demographic of the audience here 😂
I missed it!
Brawndo's got what plants crave!
And it has electrolytes!
@@iantaakalla8180 do you even know what an electrolyte is?
It’s great. I still regularly watch it.
I absolutely love this take on the series and would so so love to see more in this direction.
Thissss should be a series, they are funny together 😂
Hi Josh! I love attempting to recreate these foods that you make. You are awesome.
Electrolytes...It's got what plants crave!
*Brawndo
I love that there’s some real critique in this video, but it’s still so lighthearted and makes me want to try these foods
Honestly, I'd love to see more of this type of video
WHO WANTS MYTHICAL KITCHEN AT 3 AM!
me seeing this at 3 am: oh boy 3 am!
YESSIR🖤🖤
I caught your spongebob reference ;)
omg an "Idiocracy" joke....... brilliant, love that!!!!
i liked their chemistry and energy together. MOOORE!!!!!
Great idea with the food critic and a crazy main ingredient, would love more of this!!
Josh saying "Rad" is like that one time I said "bruh" ironically and now I can't live without it.
Oof.
bruh
Farley is a tall, tall man. Josh looks short, I never thought I'd see the day
We need more of this!
More of this please, I love the playfully antagonistic relationshio between critic and chef
Josh, the man I would be most curious about to do this challenge.
Wouldn't those beets cook a little bit faster if the oven was turned on?
This was soooo good, I would love to see more Farley channel!
@overoverunder was a delight!
i love this video. shows relativity in the weird world of mythical cooking
This just makes me want to watch Josh in Iron Chef.
You guys should really invite Julien Solomita to the show. I’d like to see Josh try to cook vegan/gluten free. Plus they are both Aries boys so should be a lot of energy lol
Josh you are an amazing human being. Always a pleasure to see you on my recommended ❤️
Josh deserves his own Food Network show
I came into this video kind of hesitant. But this was really fun to watch! I think this is the kind of video I like the most from MK. Make weird things normal instead of making normal things weird, if that makes sense.
I really love this!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! can this be a series!??!? I love this sooooo much!!! It’s my favorite food shows meets my favoriteeee mythical crew!! Especially with different critics answering questions and seeing how josh actually makes it
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Mythical Kitchen never fails to satisfy my cravings! How could I have ever doubted them!?
The idiocracy reference 😂 I love him so so much
I said the same thing😂😂
And so smooth on the delivery
I knew I wasn't crazy mixing monster with my top ramen, just splash I knew something was there. I was a pioneer!
That was probably my all time favourite Mythical Kitchen episode! Great job guys! love the concept :)
Fav mythical kitchen vid of all time the critic was very funny and I would like to see Josh cook at least semi-seriously like this more often!
I love that the first course was all vegan, oh and then he threw an egg on top. Haha
