The anti-grav racer from Wipeout was by far my favorite. Looked gorgeous too.

No engine, no limit, no carbon brake, no future aero just pure race & sponsor by red bull. This is heaven

Absolute _BLAST_ to watch, as usual 😁The designs are SO inventive and fun! And of course, it's always hilarious watching the different ways they eat it - as long as they're not injured!
The chassis are usually custom built, but I'm pretty sure there are certain regulations governing the design (wheelbase, weight, wheel size, tire width, etc). These soapboxes are less about speed and more about novelty.
Actual modern soapbox cars however, are absolutely insane. They do a lot of it in Brazil the cars there are pretty much bullet shaped with complete torsion bar suspensions up front, etc:

The car running in the shape of a can was also cool.
I was nervous as I watched the car running with the chocolate bucket because it was really dangerous.
I think car number 41 went well because it calmly cleared away even when visibility was blocked.
It seems like the cars require tremendous jumping skills.
It was nice to see cars of various designs.
I hope no one gets hurt during this event.
The car decorated with a billiards table was also cool.

I love how they have music to match the themed racers! I caught a Star Wars song during the X-Wing run and a rendition of the Ghostbusters theme during the ECTO-ONE run, how fun!

The cart at 6:55 looks like it's made entirely of plywood, even the wheels. It had the least amount of excessive flex while landing off the ramps, with the wood flexing to absorb impacts.

How can the people boo the racer,s, like they would ever build and race a soapbox.

Skipping the jumps is not in the spirit of the race... Just about the only thing acceptable to boo
They only get booed if they intentionally avoid a jump.

These soapboxes is everything that we miss from vintage F1, but we're also happy it's not in F1 anymore.

I think they’re booing whenever the racers skip the jump because the people at London came here to see thrills and stunts, and racers going full send, not bland, slow runs without any thrills

A soapbox race is much more interesting than the white water or flugtag courses. With those, the ones that put any sort of aesthetics into their designs just failed instantly. With a soapbox derby, at least you can make a racer that looks cool AND works well.
