Again, Sophie, you manage to explain the elements of a club, feeling, design, technology and everything else we need to know, in an amazing way. Often it happens that you get information you don't really need as a "normal golfer", but you manage to sick-sack out in that forest and break down into a really good and entertaining video, and then I also refer to your previous videos as well. This gave me good information about what to consider as I also take very little grass in my strikes

After more than 400 rounds with my sm7s- worn out, I decided to try out and opt for the forged Ben hogan equaliser II - wonderful accuracy, feel, looks and performance. No regrets. Best value to date.

I have been tested and fitted for multiple wedges; the one that came out on top for me, and this is all personal for everyone, is the Mizuno T22 line. It has the most spin and control. The Titleist Vokey SM9 came in 2nd. But this lady is very well spoken.

I still think Vokey wedges are the best. And they look so sweet. Always a classic look.

Great review and tutoring about testing a wedge. I'm playing Vokey SM8 that I got last year and they are still in good shape. Probably pick up the SM9's next year-50, 54 & 58 in the S grind.

    Another great review Sophie.
I'm currently fitted with SM8's 52/12 & 58/10 so will not be needing to buy SM9's right now but they do look like they want me to buy them.

Little bit disappointed they didn't offer other grinds at 50° and 52° but they're already on order

Hi Sophie thanks for mentioning that we should put our foot down with the type of shalf we want. I go into the store and they look at me 43 year old asian male but is able to pass off at 30 . They always recommend steel and when they look at my swing (95 100mph driver) ... all says I need steel. I have my first golf set and the shalfs are DG 105. I really hate steel as I feel too much vibration and I have finger tendonitis from playing golf. When i first started , I was woken up by the pain in my fingers and not the alarm clock ! I do have one hybrid from inesis and enjoy the recoil shalf. Because when i mishit the floor , the shock vibration is dampen and my fingers dont' suffer the pain so much.

Great video Sophie. I was particularly interested in your decision to change a TaylorMade MB PW with a SM9 PW - a forged club for a cast club.

Just ordered 52, 56 and 60 today in tour chrome! Replacing Callaway JAWS MD5 Raw. The raw finish is annoying me now lol. I wish I went Titleist to begin with. Should sell decently barely used. The MD5 are a great bit of kit but not for me, need more bounce for the courses I play.
Great videos as always, thank you!

Great content and advice - i'm only a 22 handicap at the moment so will need something more forgiving it seems. Is there any wedges you'd recommend other than these that are the go-to wedges for forgiveness? Happy golfing guys!

Cleveland CBX2 wedges, Callaway Mack Daddy CB wedges, Cleveland Smart Sole Wedges, TaylorMade MG Big-Foot wedges - any of these are great helping with forgiveness Amer.

It’s not surprising that manufacturers state wedges need to be replaced after 75 rounds - it’s money to them - but does this mean there is no secondhand market for wedges.

Great video Sophie. Lots of discussion regarding bounce and grind which I understand because that defines the interaction with the turf, but I never hear in wedge reviews discussion of swing weight and balance. Do they not impact wedge strikes? For a higher handicap player who has more inconsistent strikes better off with a lighter or heavier wedge or does it not make a difference?

Hi Sophie Great 👍 Video, was your wedge fitting outside off grass? Would have thought inside off mat you would not see enough, Outside you can see & feel what different bounce is doing, You would see how the flight changes with med, low, & high flights, and watch how the ball reacts on greens, (having seen how much work goes into Titleist Wedges) on video they earn their No 1 spot, But all other manufacturers have improved their Wedges & most offer a more forgiving Wedge in their range (do Titleist mis out here)? Would love to hear your thoughts Thanks Dickey

Would you recommend a Vokey gap wedge to replace your iron set gap wedge? (I tend to use my gap for full shots or 100 yards or so, but I do chip with it, particularly off thin lies or a chip that needs more run than my SW)?

    Currently playing the SM8 46, 50, 54 & 58. Thinking about taking out the 54 & 58 and replacing them with a 56 & 60.

    • @apaulmcdonough2170
      @apaulmcdonough2170 Год назад

Do you find the 54° and 58° tend to run the Ball long on your approach shots? Moving to 56° and 60° will most likely just Shorten the Shots you are hitting with the 54° and 58°, since all you have done is make these two wedges 1/2 a club weaker.

    • @j.w.matney8390

@@apaulmcdonough2170 I did try the 56 & 60 combination and found that the 60 was hard for me to use on short pitches. I went back to the 54 & 58 and chips and pitches are much improved. Longer chips I use a 47 PW. 716CB.

      @@j.w.matney8390 I recently replaced a 54° 10° V Grind and a 58° 06° (Low Bounce) K Grind (both SM6 vintage) with a SM9 54 ° 10° S Grind and a 58° 04° T Grind.
I use 54° for Deeper Rough, or when the Ball sits up off the Ground. The 58° has been my go to for tighter lies or when I decide more Spin is favorable.
I still have SM6 46° and 50° - both 08°, so "a Strong and a Weak PW", when I want a releasing Shot that will Roll Out.
      My 718 AP2 Irons stop at 9.
I have Project X LZ shafts in my Irons and Wedges.

Which shaft did you choose Sophie and what was the weight? I currently play ping irons with graphite shafts and find the change to steel shafts in my SM7 very different and I lack consistency!
