I swear when Tim pulled out that Aussie $5 note I thought he was going to do the trick where you fold in in half and you get a fish... Tim is too precious for this world.
Steve Wozniak tells a story about how he used to buy sheets of $2 bills and have a printing company perforate them and bind them into pads. He would go around tearing off bills to pay for stuff. He once got interviewed by the Secret Service after a casino thought they were counterfeit.
There used to be someone who would visit my elementary and show off whimsical toys. If Tim wasn’t from the UK I would have been almost certain that it was him. He was the highlight of each of our days. One time I remember really well is when he’d read us a West Virginian folktale about the tailypo, I hope he is doing great. You guys would have loved each other if I could only remember who he was
Tailypo is a well used campfire tale of mine, and im not even from West Virginia. My dad was from Virginia but he wasn't even the one who told me the tale, it was my grandfather who was also born and raised here. I do notice some variations between the two stories, but I notice a lack of modern kids hearing the tale. Maybe next time I take my younger sister out camping I should tell her the story.
@@lucas23453 I discovered the story during my childhood through one of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books. The oral tradition of scary stories does seem to be in decline.
Bit of fun info, we used to make baskets like those money baskets at Christmas every year growing up, but out of wrapping paper. its a Danish tradition. Some of them get extremely elaborate with the Danish flag waving as the pattern. I have a few with complex geometric designs woven into them. I have wanted to take them apart to see how they were made, but I know I will never get them back to shape. The idea, we were told, was that it was to hang on the trees, and to put candy in. At least, that is what we did. Neat to see another use for the same craft.
As a kid I was always fascinated by money, but this would have blown my brain away with bags of shredded cash! When I would get new money from the bank with sequential serial numbers, I would use rubber cement and glue one edge of the stack so you could tear it from the stack as you used them. When people would marvel at it, I would ask if they never had new money before! But I hardly ever carry cash any more. The magic tricks I have seen before, and the special string is cool to have for other tricks as well!
Steve Wozniak, one of the cofounders of Apple, used to buy uncut sheets of bills, cut them himself with lots of extra margin on one side, and perforate them for tearing. So he could carry around a little booklet, and rip bills out. People often thought they were fake, and one time he got in real trouble when he did it in a casino
I'm not sure if Tim knows this or not but with the polymer Canadian bank notes if you shine a laser pointer though the clear maple leaf it will project the value of the bill on the wall.
I went to canada in 2018 and I love their money plus if you buy something with a big bill it's no big deal versus in the US if you give someone a 50 dollar bill they call homeland security.
Tim, you jest about cutting bills to equal change, but that is actually legal in America. So long as the fragment of the bill is greater than or equal to the intended amount (percentage wise) it can be accepted as legal tender. It will also be turned in to the bank the business uses and shredded as soon as possible.
the money weaving technique is well known in Denmark for hand making elaborate heart shaped paper containers that you hang on the X-mass tree with or without some sweets, raisins etc inside
Gas Tim heard of the hologram on the Canadian bills? You can either look through the frosted maple leaf in the bill while shining a light at it or shine a lazer at the leaf but it projects the denomination of the bill.
probably not yet because he only saw the old plastic bills in aus like he said, but pretty sure when he sees it he'll probably prefer it more than the british pounds
There's a string attached to the banknote that runs across the table and is taped to that part of his shirt. That way when he moves his hand towards the camera the bill folds itself. He puts it into his shirt to avoid tangling or breaking the string. There's a similar trick I use involving taping an extremely thin thread to a playing card and then taping the other end of it to your ear. Then you can give the illusion that the card is levitating

Tim is too precious for this world.
Right.... "fish"
What fish?
Tim's collection must be worth a fortune!
Worth every bill!
It's literally priceless. So many unique items that are irreplaceable - like Tim himself.
And not to mention the size of the collection must be large enough to fill the Mall of America
I wouldn't be surprised if he could store his entire collection in vase
Tim’s Fortune 😂

I love watching your videos, Tim. They put a smile on my face whenever I'm down

This just happens to be very relevant to me at the moment as I'm working on some art involving paper money.
Bro's brinks driver
Time's money?
Nah, Tims money.
Tim's so relaxing 😌
I once visited Tim’s home and what an amazing toy collection he had.
Tim, the money man. Love your videos.
The voice is so wholesome and calming that if I watch the video I like it but I can also fall asleep to it if I tried. And it helps me sleep.
Aussie here.
Once, when I was a kid, I tried ironing one of those $5 notes. Yeah. came out exactly like in the video.
Best content you can find on RUclips, Grand illusions.😁
Tis always a good day when Grand Illusions posts!
The double bill one was sure too much, but it was still shocking. Tim is amazing

Mr. Tim never lost his childish innocence! He is Santa little helper ! 😅😅
Alternate title: Tim Strikes It Rich!
I can't wait for when Tim shows us his collection of gold bars

that self-folding money trick is amazing.
The very first intro ...it was not about folding money, it was about tim's ability to grow and elongate his hand😂
Lovely (as always)! I remember thath you could fold the old swedish 20kr bill into a shirt with a goose neck for a tie.
I'm not sure if Tim knows this or not but with the polymer Canadian bank notes if you shine a laser pointer though the clear maple leaf it will project the value of the bill on the wall.
Yeah! I was wondering if someone would mention it. It's a cool effect.

2:01 no I definitely didn't expect that Vsauce moment on Tim's channel :O
You are the best person in the world!
Who else watches Tim to fall asleep? he is very similar to bob ross
Very good observation, I see what you mean. I would like to see a Tim do a Bob Ross impression.
I'll shrink all my money in the oven to reduce inflation
I think Tim sould make his own version of Monopoly!
all these folds and tricks are inside a money magic book--i dont recall the title but I saw it like 15 years ago.

Seeing this cut up and shreaded money disturbs me.
Reminds me of tim's webcam videos 😂

/cries in Argentina
I can't read the title without hearing the "AAAAAAAAAAAHHH"
I wonder why he put the first banknote into his shirt rather than into his shirt pocket or onto the table?

I'm surprised he didn't show the 'sad queen, happy queen' thing you can do with an english note.
