- Every two years, Tim attends Gathering for Gardner - www.gathering4g... - in Atlanta, USA. This is the second of two videos where he shows some of the items he brought back from the 13th Gathering (hence G4G13) in 2018. Puzzles, magic tricks, illusions and mathematical diversions...
"I'm not sure I care for 2500 year old pie"
I love this man.
He was probably the one who baked it as he is immortal
Everytime Tim emits a "heh", an angel gets its wings.
When the grid changes size,
and you don't believe your eyes,
that's a moire.
When the jaws open wide
And there's more jaws inside
That's a moray!
Professor Yana's Forsaken Outpost When the test makes you mad, cause it says you're the dad, that's a Maury
heh. brilliant.
@@ZacHawkins42 when you need someone who ain’t afraid of no ghosts, that’s a Bill Murray
@@bostonrailfan2427 well-played!
Grand Illusions is becoming Grand Robberies, where Tim is going to show us the jewels and gold he's robbed from safes :P
Tim
"Really fascinating gold ingots I stole from Belgium, about 20 years ago now. Really quite extraordinary.... Heh."
only after the statute of limitations is up
I seriously want those business cards. That's a brilliant idea.
Looks like it's just a polarised film which is pretty darn sweet
@@r4z0r84 It's much simpler than that. It's basically the same method they use to print advertisements on bus windows but tiny
Tim!! I only just found this channel and I'm 100% addicted! Binging all your videos now
You already cracked into a safe...
the safe to my heart.
Turns out Tim was really the mastermind behind the Hatton Garden heist!!
I just found out that Grand Illusions is subscribed to VSauce. I’m not sure what to do with this information but it makes me happy nonetheless.
Would it make you happy to know that we have met Michael?
Grand Illusions that does indeed make me very happy.
Michael on grand illusions would complete the marvel cinematic universe. This needs to be done
Quite nearly...just add Adam Savage and we'll have ourselves the mechanical curio equivalent of the Avengers.
This is actually how I found out about Grand Illusions. Michael mentioned this channel in one of his videos.
Hello Tim, I very very much enjoy your videos but it can be hard for me to follow them fully because I'm very slightly hard of hearing. I was wondering if you'd be so kind as to include captions in future videos?
Just get new ears lol
Humanlike asshole
Get new eyes lol
you can turn on captions now
I think Tim is about to rob a bank...
Lauri Konttori why?
At the end: "I like the idea of cracking safes... Perhaps Ill have a go at it..."
Now you see Tim, Now you're not
…he already robbed it, he happily showed the bank how to fix the puzzle so others can’t solve it
Anyone else ever watch Grand Illusions, and think "... this dude reminds me of my Granddad", or "this man is my new Granddad??" .... man's a british professor, and we don't even know if he's getting paid to do this stuff! Just makes videos on collections and friend's collections, all to show us some neat stuff. Tim is just a gem... Never a dull day when I sit down with my lunch and cookies to watch him. 25 yr old me, just letting good old Granddad talk about all the neat stuff in his collection. Never ceases to amaze, or put a smile on my face...
Jamey Grimes?? Never heard him called that before, Lol.
Water from the singing bananile
Nothing better than cheap booze and a Grand Illusion video.
travos k 🍺Cheers
Skol and grand illusion is paradise. Maybe some pot too..
Lmao living the same life
Water from the Nile
Cheap weed
There are some kinds of special people who either make or break a visit to the Grandparents... and Tim obviously made them. Even as old as I am now, I would NEVER get bored tinkering with all the neat toys in his collection. All I would need is a granny feeding me sweets, and some quality time with Tim and his collection; I'd always be right as rain, I tell you...
"Put that in your pocket and you can go home!!"
4:02 Jamey or James? Apparently James Grimes, who appears on Numberphile every now and then, is actually selling non-transitive dice.
It's James Grime (no 's' at the end). I think he can make a response video if people ask him. His channel's name is singingbanana.
if you know someone personally to the point of being friends you get in the habit of using nicknames…he might know him as Jamey
wow does the sunglasses make the light look like pi
Yeah! I have a pair of glasses like that stuffed in my christmas box, except instead of pi they make bright lights say the word "Joy", you put them on and look at a christmas tree and all the tiny lights say Joy and it's very silly and fun
Diffraction gratings, although the ones with words shapes etc are a lot harder to come by, something to collect
They are from the nile
amazing toys , thank you tim .
*heh*
Wow
remarkable
I was watching the video and as soon as I scrolled down, the first comment was 'heh' and at the same moment I read this comment, Tim said "heh"
WookieBush heh
I'm dead 😂😂😭
That lock is so cool!
Ahh yes this is the first gold bar I got when I robbed a bank with my friend 20 some years ago. I still keep in touch with him, he's a wonderful man, quite eccentric the fellow is.
Thank you, Tim! Very cool!
Watching Tim amused by his toys, brings me joy
God bless this old man soul for he represents everything right with people
Somebody needs to send these videos to the unintentional asmr channel.
That combination lock intrigued me the most because i've always wanted to know how to open a lock.
I actually had a pair of specs like those pi ones, but instead of pi you would see giraffes. They were given at a light show. I lost them a few years ago and was really sad since they were very neat.
he is very calming
Can't...Stop...Watching...Grand...Illusions….Need....Help.....
Just finished a good movie with a bittersweet ending (Train to Busan if anyone's wondering) and you've helped cheer me up once again Tim!
De moment when I get a good rest.
Somebody please explain the sorcery controlling those playing cards. Lol
i have a theory it's threaded on the inside and the cards slip past each other but it's secret so i'm not 100%
@@AleK0451 It's the 8 that gets me he doesn't include that one in the turn, yet it changes!
Heh I figured out the cards one. The rotary thing is a corkscrew... turning the cards moves the card up or down through the group.
don't do it Tim, you're too beautiful for prison
8:20 ... the "Valleys" are called 'Gates' and the "Long Bolt" is called a 'Fence' "Clicks into Place" is called 'Dropping In'
1:36 magnificent heh
Wow everything about this video is cool and happy
Oh, I’ve stumbled upon more Grand Illusion videos. I’m going to be here a while.
Every time he says heh I think it’s the end of the video and I’m disappointed
I’m convinced Tim is wiser than human limits can make note of
And so begins Tim's reign of terror as the most prolific back robber in British history
Wonderful spectacles.
I enjoy these videos very much :)
Tim gozinta box was originally an idea by Luber Feadler One of Germany’s finest magicians there’s a version called Luber’s Gift it’s in the Paul Harris presents collection
My friend refers to Tim as “the old guy that looks at things” ... heh
This is nice, Tim. You are quite hilarious.
Those business cards are awesome :D
9:05
Petition for tim to appears in GTA V new heist DLC
That pi one was very good. Cool stuff
Does anyone know if there's anything even slightly similar to this in the uk?
Marvelous Tim!
So... what is the effect used on that business card called?
it's basically a printed mesh film.
TY for the reply. But I still don't understand why it is only visible from one side :(
Essentially it's a grid. From one side the grid is printed with the motif, from the other it's not.
On the printed side the eye focuses more on the printed motif than the light visible through the holes, from the other side it focuses on the holes more than the grid.
You can see that for example on advertisements on buses (if they extend to the windows). However for this card they used a very fine grid mesh, making the effect even more noticeable.
The effect is known as Contravision
Wonderful Stuff Tim.HEH!
Are the dices from James Grime from numberphile?
We love you Tim :)
I would put all those sticks in my pocket.
Q and A video?
the pi glasses are amazing. How does it work?
The only good toy review channel.
Much support Tim!!
Well, it's time to keep the trend going
Nile from the nile
I would like to know more about the effect seen at 5:45. Does it have a name so I could google it?
Thanks for the video.
1:40 good one tiM!!
Absolutely fucking thrilling stuff.
remarkable piece of... mass
What's brown and peers though your window?
Poo on stilts.
Antifoul Awl 3:11
What's brown and sticky?
A stick.
He said "fuck no, I ain't finna read these numbers"
With those glasses on I guess you could say you were....pi-eyed! Heh
Oh quite the contrary. Yes! A great deal of yes.
I love this sign off lol
Could you show us your house pleaaaassseeee
Hi there, the boxes were invented by a magician called Lubor Fiedler.
those glasses are coolllll
I memorized pi 30 years ago but can't remember past 3.141592653589793 as I used to program and wanted that kind of precision but, of course, it truncated on me internally.
idk why but the ending made me wheeze
I like this intro more than last one but 2015 is still better :p
Do I receive some kind of Life achievment now?
how do those boxes work?
Tim's so smart..
glasses that block the sun? whatever will the think of next
4:00 nobody gonna mention James grime of numberphile's name pronounced wrong?
OoooooooooO WOW!!
the tim goes skrrra
the Tim goes *heh*
He goes GUZZINTA
*best asmrist*
I'm just saying, watch some of these with the captions on because youtube has no idea how to cope with his accent and you get some interesting things.
Cracking Safes... what next?
The Goseinta-box was the brainchild of a brilliant German magician Luber Fiedler just thought l’d let you know
You always remind me of Anthony Hopkins .
Yay!
Oh no! Is tim a hooligan now?
douglas james henning illusuionist did same idea of box inside of box fit inside itself on a larger scale box illusion and produces marie osmond in box and ricy scrider hosted also wanted to get in the box and learn it
"Wow, what a *_PIECE_* "
Gardner from the Nile?
thank u
Tim; the master of tacky stuff.
Is Tim came from Egypt ? I heard that he used to swim in the Nile....
6:25 that kinda looks like a fractal
4 13...
Pi from the Nile. NAILED IT!
