Thanks for pointing that out. There is always something new to learn... I will pass the information on to Tim when he gets back from his latest trip (he is in the US this week).
Very nice. I actually have an 'odd' deck of cards as well. Bicycle makes what they call the 'Tactical Field Playing Cards', specifically for the US military. These are made more durable and use special ink for the red cards. The reason is that military personnel often have downtime on patrols or post, where they use red light to preserve night vision. Under red light, it's difficult to distinguish black and red cards, but the special maroon ink on the tactical cards makes this easy.
You help me get by with my anxiety. Since last week i watch endless episodes until i get to sleep, i always start with this one. Bless your heart everyone
Grand Illusions, at 4:27 Tim shows a "story deck", and I was so interested by it I thought it would be awesome for a full video with all 4 suits. Loved the idea. Hope to hear a reply
I’ve got this deck, unaware there was a story behind it, but the idea of the deck is that there are 4 different artists - one for each suit. It’s called the cartoonists pack - I picked them up in a small artsy shop by a beach
You could make a very interesting game by combining the "Indiscretion" deck with the two-value (white and yellow) deck. Have the white card's suit visible on the back, but not the yellow card's suit. Hmm, I'm going to try reverse-designing a game based around that deck.
The artist card deck doesn't seem to be meant to be played, though the idea of it highly amuses me "I keep telling you man, this is a 6 of spades!" "You sure? Could be a 3 of hearts"
It was Tim's video's about playing cards that inspired me to expand my own playing card collection. I got myself a special 6-suit deck like the one he's got in the other playing card video (alas the original one he shows has gone out of production, but some companies took inspiration from it and made their own version). Now if only I could find more unique decks like that.
Good luck with your new phone is on the list for the next few days to see if you have a chance to get to know to get it done by tomorrow morning and then I will be able to come home to get my phone
500 (the trick taking game, not the rummy game), is probably most popular in Australia, although it was invented in the USA. The black suits have 2 extra cards (the 11 and 12), and the red suits have 3 extra cards (11, 12, and 13). The extra cards are only required for the six player version of the game. The game itself is somewhat similar in complexity to bridge, and has some similarities to bridge, but is usually played much less seriously than bridge. You can buy six player 500 decks everywhere in Australia. Even in the supermarket. The brand that Tim has here (Queen's slipper) seems to be the most popular.
RUclips will create automatic subtitles, although they are not that accurate. We created these subtitles ourselves. I am sorry you feel they are out of sync. The text deliberately varies from the speech quite a bit, in order to take up less room, and also be clearer. Is that part of the problem do you think?
8:51 "There are just hundreds of Magic cards out there. I've got so many, I can't... begin to show them all (...)" - took me a moment to realize he wasn't talking about "Magic: the Gathering" xD.

A small correction: Queen's Slipper is one of the better brand of cards in Australia. The pack with 11s and 12s (and probably some 13s if you look carefully) is a "500 deck" for playing a specialised version of 500 (which I guess is not well known outside Australia?)
@@stanisawburdan786 I am an Indian, but I take that as a joke, obviously it's a game. But other weak minded people would take it as "that's racist, my ancestors culture was faaaaar more amazing for this game to ask you too imitate on of us". It's a joke but others would not like it 😂
