Wow bro great video thank you so much for the info and keeping everything simple. And good ideas for batteries and the pinion gear I have my 104001 also I'm looking for good on road tires so I will be looking forward to seeing your next video👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
well the 2s that comes with the car does just fine I think. As far as 3s? Check roaring top for their batteries, they may have something that can fit in that tray.
i wonder if you could just install 2 shock towers glued together for super strength??? and the fex in chassis i am sure is a very easy fix... i wonder with 5900kv if stock pinion on 2s would do well?? maybe 45 mph on 2s? thanks for sharing
I got a nice cheap setup thats performing really well. Surpass hobby esc (uses the same programmer as goulRC escs), metal servo, Brushless motor 3900kv all for 40 bucks, and a dumborc radio set with gyro for another 35ish. Running 3s its a rocket, 2s its stable and fast. For the bend get the carbon kit and put it all on, and use the carbon AND aluminum pieces for the front center brace(they stack with the plastic y shape piece and fit together nicely) try it, you'll like it.
Great work Vallone, very thourough and informative. I subed for this car, hope to see it reach 100mph. Thinking of buying one. Wonder a front spoiler could be fitted to keep the front down?
@@VallonesRCHobby I like the stock body but was just seeing what options were out there. Thanks too for the suggestion. I will probly try 1 from phat bodies thanx!!
Very nice setup!...Does it have good power out of the hole on 2s? Using that 31 pinion did you have to modify motor mount at all? I am asking because i finally got back into rc cars and have this one on the way..i think 50mph on 2s is very impressive and am leaning to your exact setup...just wonder if using stock pinion may be better option since 45 mph top speed would be incredible on 2s also...thanks for sharing..
in a stock setup, its ok out of the box, a little under powered in my opinion. There was very little to no mods to put the other pinion in, maybe just some motor adjustment. I can''t remember off hand if it had an adjustable motor mount.
I watched afew vids...i decided on sticking with stock pinion ,60 amp surpass esc ,4500kv...expecting close to 40mph with stock 2s..thanks for the help..😊
So, wondering if you'll see this and reply. I have this build and put in a Kingval 3650 5900kv with a 60a brushless sensorless quicrun esc. It is fast, but definitely doesn't hit 60mph. Could it be because I only have a 60a esc? Just installed a fan for the motor too. Want it to be faster.
Love ur videos! Where do you recommend to get a different pinion like the 28T.6, the link takes us back to this video. Also are there other batteries maybe with higher mAh that will work safe with this setup. Thanks.
@@nitetimebolher I figured it did not hurt to have the fan. I was going up in pinion, so you have to watch heat. Any fan that can go around a 3650 motor works. I picked this one up cheap on eBay.
Yeah man I am doing good, I had to stop the channel for a bit as my VW business is real busy, and it needs my attention everyday. I am trying to move from NY to Florida, so I am trying to finalize things here before I go. I would love to come back, gotta see how things play out. But I am here man! Thanks for reaching out.
So is it the 28T or 29t pinion that starts to rub the cover? I want to run all the stock cover with out any rubbing what size pinion would you suggest? Also if I keep increasing the kv of a motor say put a 7000kv in would it still be ok on 2 and 3 s with a 120aesc or could I get away with a 60a? I want to be able to push it up to 70-80 eventually. Thanks for any info you can provide. I just want to order the right size pinion to fit first
I appreciate that thank you, yeah I had to step away for a bit as my Classic VW BuGs biz has gotten super busy. The classic car market has really gotten hot as of late. So my attention needs to be there. Plus I am looking to move outta NY state next year, so there is a lot on my plate right now. I am hoping to come back in the future.
@@classicvwbugs Well that’s good to hear. Always worry about illness now days with people. Glad you and family are well. Enjoy the car blitz while it’s here. Hope everything goes well with the move. Take care.
What this needs is a shell with aerodynamics that handle speed runs better. That whale tail is probably causing drag and contributing to the lifting of the nose. First of all, this buggy is just a knock off of some other company's design so we know that no thought was given to the aerodynamics of the thing. Second, the model they copied is a track racing buggy, so the speeds they run at during the race are different from a speed run. The faster you go, the more down force you need to keep the buggy from lifting. Driftomaniacs has modded a front wing to his buggies to keep the nose down while RC Master just does it by adding a second battery to make it heavier while giving more power. If you're going with the budget route, modding a front wing would be cheaper, but I wish more YTers would try modding speed run shells to the 104001 platform. This would definitely improve handling better and allow them to more easily go at full throttle.
what is your opinion on these guys completely taking apart diffs to add grease... i have been a mechanic etc for over 40 years and to me unless the grease is nasty or crap... for adding more grease i would just remove the 4 screws and add grease with a popsicle stick and screw plate back on... your thoughts... i see some say grease would not cover gears etc...this makes no sense to me at all.... again if you feel the grease in diff is garbage yes taking it apart makes sense... but this wltoys is not a real race car... your views on this??? thanks again for all your no bs rc car video's... :)
Honestly, I agree with you, I do not really think you need to pack the diffs. I guess it really depends on what you plan on using the car for, and how hard you are gonna use it. If you plan on bashing off road, then maybe some better grease is good in the diffs, but I do not think you need to pack it. If you are doing speed runs, more grease I think is not going to help any. Greased diffs would work for bashing more than speed runs from my understanding, the gears engage more on turns. As long as the gears have some grease on em, I think you are good, packing I think might be overkill.
@@VallonesRCHobby and even if you pack them i see no reason to take them apart..grease will get everywhere real fast. in both my 144001's i never even checked them...they are great..very smooth...years ago with kits we hardly used any grease as far i i can remember,,,thanks for sharing..
