Compared to another car I bought on sale for 130, the tires do better on the asphalt than the other monster truck that cost more. At the same time, this was on sale for about 100 work car bodies. I like em but compared to other cars, they are s little slower with the stock gearing

if you want you can use 3650 motor 3900kv with motor cooler with 15t pinion gear and 47t spur gear but make sure you have 60A esc and 3s lipo to reach 55mph+

I had my subscription since 1984. My first car was the 1984 TAMIYA hornet then a 1986 TAMIYA Blackfoot. I also have the original 1991 Team Associated RC10 team car with the stealth transmission. I was able to buy and collect the majority of the reissues TAMIYA, Kyosho, TA from the 80’ss and 90’s.

Very nice setup!...Does it have good power out of the hole on 2s? Using that 31 pinion did you have to modify motor mount at all? I am asking because i finally got back into rc cars and have this one on the way..i think 50mph on 2s is very impressive and am leaning to your exact setup...just wonder if using stock pinion may be better option since 45 mph top speed would be incredible on 2s also...thanks for sharing..

Still got my 1997. King Blackfoot. A total of one battery has been used on it since I bought it, from the shop that sponsored me to race. Now I have a new Lunchbox I need to get it out to race.

I have a bone stock muckraker i got on ebay back in 2020, i have run the thing every weekend, just blasting it around usually putting 2-3 batteries on it per day. So id say 6 hours of desert running a week for 4 years, and I have not broken or worn out a single part. The body is cracked around the posts, ant ive gone thru tires but otherwise it still rips and is fast on 4s. I am planning on putting a new bearing set in it just as maintenance, but if you keep these on 4s and dont headbutt trees with it, they last forever. Horizon needs to bring it back out under a new name.

all my cars are expensive but brand new because they are all shelf queens and only been turned on never driven and they are all upgraded... the reason I don't sell them is beachside I don't need money I just don't use them and I bought a scat pack charger... rc cars and trucks are for someone else not me anymore I'm so lazy I just boxed them up and they are in a closet.. I can't be bothered I'll just keep them I don't want to deal with low ballers and con artists and covid nevermind

50c not enough 100c or 120c and you'll be ripping good

your batteries are rubbish , you should have used a high quality 50C / 60C rated battery , then you would have got 50 mph in warm weather not cold weather testing .

Thanks for the flashback! I relied heavily on that RC Car Action article to decide between the Clod and the USA-1 back in the day. I chose the Clod and it wound up as a Clodzilla but I wouldn't mind adding a USA-1 to the collection. I still have years of old RC Car Actions and Tower books for reference. I don't think my paper route money would cover the current prices though. Anyone else have to send money orders through the mail to get your RC parts?

How long did the batteries last?

So much nostalgia! My love for RC started in 1989 with a Tyco Turbo Hopper and then my neighbor got an RC10 and I knew I wanted to get serious. I would constantly check out issues of RC Car Action at our school library and I’ll never forget seeing the full-page ad for the Blackfoot with the front of the truck smashing through a wood floor- that simple ad made me want that truck so bad! Then they did a review on the Tamiya Nissan King Cab and they customized it with a wild (very 80’s/90’s) yellow paint job and See’s aluminum wheels and the scale looks blew my mind and I fell hard for that truck. But THEN they did a write up on the Tamiya Bullhead and that became the one I had to have and I got it for Xmas ‘91 and my brother got a Traxxas Sledgehammer. The absolute best of times!

Where would you buy the softer compound tires at??

Can you use the stock remote from the 144001 with an upgraded brushless/esc?

I have this same buggy, I have a 8 turn modified torque turned 540 can, two cooling fans and I'm using the stock 1500 mah battery,I get 7 min run time, and boy oh boy is this buggy fast, I can't even get to full trigger not enough room, I figured out the steering problem when driving it, upgraded the steering turn bulkles & upgrade the the transmitter and receiver and esc ,then turn the steering rate way down,and she will run straight,my buggy is 2 times faster than what it was stock, the stock speed was 37 miles per hour if I remember correctly, I'm going to put 2 1500 mah batterys in it with a dual battery adaptor and I should get a longer run time, it should increase the the run time to 14 mins and I still have the stock rims & tires on it, I'm not changing the stock wheels at all, puts more strain on the motor, esc & the drive train

I went from a Radio Shack Golden Arrow to my first built RC which was the Blackfoot at around age 10. None of my friends had built one and I remember it being a real challenge at that age. I think I got one 3 minute run out of it before I lost a dog bone. It was an expensive hobby for a kid running on chore money. After a few trans gears, MANY power resistors, and more dog bones I finally had enough to by the thorp kit, oil shocks, and a electronic speed control. What difference those upgrades made.

Shout out to those of us old enough to remember the Sears Xmas catalog!! They had all those cars. Even the first 4wd buggy

15.99 for those motors lol. I also had a Falcon. Started with the Tyco turbo hopper. Man when I got that Falcon for Xmas it was so fast. Must have been 1988 or so. I wanted the Clod so bad. Eventually got a BlackFoot then a Sledge Hammer from Traxxas. Remember that truck? It was lightning quick when I put a Mr.Twister motor in it

thank you for being honest, other RUclipsrs won't tell you what they have inside because they usually are around other racers and other racers might watch your video to see what you are packing in order to beat you they are not shady they just want to keep it a secret for the competition not the viewers. dont blame them I've been there when there's money on stakes some people act weird and crazy for it.

A lot better value than the Volcano16 which is all plastic and 105 dollars. I was shocked to hear it had an all metal driveline.

I don't know if you're still around, but they finally discontinued this truck in 2023. I have an orange TR and it's one of the best bashers ever made. Well, at least it was. Mine even has a center differential. Very nice. I've never broken it yet. It didn't come with two bodies however, and I bought it directly from Team Redcat. Team Redcat came about when they bought a brand new Taiwanese factory and started a new brand name in honor of it. The Blackout was the first in house designed truck and the MT10 was the first in house produced truck. It was a big deal to Redcat. But they were only competing against themselves and the Team Redcat name didn't last long. Taiwan is supposed to be something special and that's where Hobbywing comes from. VS Castle, Traxxas, and China. But the name TRMT10E was the very first product Redcat made in house and this was also the end of Chinese HSP dominance. They didn't just change out the old line however. The Volcano is still HSP, as is the Lightning car. Hard to beat the Lightning but the Volcano is long in the tooth, and still breaks, and still can't handle 3s. We've got 6s bashers today that hold together. So what exactly is the Volcano? They are selling rolling kits for the RCMT10E to the Chinese and you will occasionally come across one, they're pretty easy to spot. I believe Rival has one and they even call it the MT10. Redcat is also selling a gazillion rolling kits for the Tremor/ Volcano16. Don't be surprised if they discontinue the Volcano16 too. They don't seem to want to compete with those who are buying them en mass. I have a feeling that's why the MT10E was discontinued. Their last year they sold for 199 bucks. I have a Hosin basher that can compete with it and that's what it cost. It's very nice.

You made it look so easy i have a few of these,you can use a chassis brace from snother vehicle cut n weld ..biggest pinion you can fit roughly 23 or so an get 12 mm to ,17 mm hex ..bigger tires an you'll go over 65...your welcome

Hi, I’m trying to get my Old Tamiya Blackfoot RC Truck running again and I need a new SA1 resistor widerstand resistance part. It’s the white block with three wires on the drivers side attached to the frame. I’m new to restoring this truck so I appreciate any help you could can offer. Thank you

So is it the 28T or 29t pinion that starts to rub the cover? I want to run all the stock cover with out any rubbing what size pinion would you suggest? Also if I keep increasing the kv of a motor say put a 7000kv in would it still be ok on 2 and 3 s with a 120aesc or could I get away with a 60a? I want to be able to push it up to 70-80 eventually. Thanks for any info you can provide. I just want to order the right size pinion to fit first
