Even if this book was an amazing book, it was a big mistake not to release it at the same time as the movie, it would've been a very fun piece of merchandise
yeah. I almost would've forgotten it were it not for the ads.
This seems so obvious that there is probably a reason it didn't happen.
@@NybergCarlthey couldn’t make up their mind and were too busy reshooting and finishing the film. I think at least
@@NybergCarl I think Quantumania was originally going to release around now before it got moved up to February.
@@mediaconsumption3972true I think it was a July release originally
Whenever the apocalypse happens, I just hope this book is one of the artifacts that survives so that future generations or aliens or whatever think this shit actually happened.
Honestly that would be hilarious 😂 imagine that’s what our future history books will look like
I'm honestly surprised Paul Rudd didn't narrate the audiobook as much as I'm aware and it was announced after the movie had been out a while. They shot themselves in the foot with the timing for sure
A book like this by Happy would be amazing! He's one of the longest standing characters who is close enough to some of the big superheroes (obviously Stark, Spider-Man, Rhodey) while not being an integral part in the whole universe, and he's still around now so could actually comment on so many things!
Yeah, that actually sounds like a great idea.
I would pay good money to read Darcy's POV from her internship meeting Thor, through her doctorate, the events of WandaVision, through her last few days with Jane. Her snark, intelligence, and close personal connection to a lot of the characters would be a lot of fun to read.
You are a better man than I. I totally despise her as a character 😢
@@sathrielsatanson666ok
There is a whole generation of Darcy Lewis fanfiction writers who've written thousands of stories from her pov
Why she's awful
@@booksvsmovieswhy that's awful
Brilliant idea for a video because a ton of people know about this book and zero people have any interest in actually buying it rn
You THINK zero people have interest in it lol
I preordered before I even saw the movie, totally forgot until it showed up, it’s enjoyable.
This book should’ve been written by Luis and it would’ve been 100x better
This is exactly what I thought because you could actually change events because he wasn't actually there, it was all second-hand information and you could have some fun with that.
And in future installments of the MCU you could have that misinformation crop up somewhere else, or have the exact opposite happen where an Avenger corroborates that story when asked.
"Look Out for the Little Guy: As the Guy in the Chair Next to the Little Guy"
and then scott was like "damn luis is that really you?!" and then im like "yeah bro!"
so like I'm at this super future tech temple which you know me i was like a star wars kind of guy so i was like "damn this is cool!" but then Scotts daughter is like "Yo dudes, we need to join together because together we are bigger because separately we're just like ants" so then i head to the temple like she said by the way and everyone was like fighting and then some of them died but it was badass and then you got this blue dude in some glow shield like some superpowers getting angry, and then this giant robot thing comes in like "Yo dawg! remember the name?!" and then the super powered dude is like "I don't even know who you are?!" then the robot guy says "I am your father!" then he dies and then these giant ants come in and start beating the crap out of him then we win and then we go back home through this portal thingy! it was like Star Wars, 100% star wars inspired.
You know.. with how convoluted the mcu has become we need a special with Luis explaining the entire mcu
I bet people would watch the hell out of that.
Another canon book is the Wakanda Files, basically Shuri's research papers, in the same vein as this. Highly recommend that one too if you haven't already checked it out!
Aloha, I would agree. Very detailed.
A Star-Lord’s Journal sounds really cool to me and something that could actually happen. Also, I remember there were like 2 Infinity War-related books that were released, one was like an origin story for Thanos and the other was the Selvig guy dealing with the aftermath of Infinity War, but for some reason those books aren’t considered canon to the MCU, so maybe Nando could check em out at some point.
If any of the Avengers had an actual podcast made that I would listen to, it would be Hulk. “Banter With Banner” explaining Bruce’s 5 year journey of merging his personalities and finding peace. All the lost adventures, all his opinions his friends and enemies. You could get Abomination, She-Hulk, Hawkeye, Ant-Man as a some guests. That would be amazing.
I think a Happy Hogan book would be super interesting especially with the Peter Parker mind wipe from No Way Home. Show us how those interactions changed in Happy’s memories now that he never “met” Peter. Show us how he remembers meeting Aunt May now that Peter is only Spider-Man in his memories.
I would really, REALLY enjoy a half-scripted Marvel character podcast
Isnt that just pro wrestling?
Did you like the squirrel girl podcast?
I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this but if they make another one of these sorts of books having one about Bruce Banner would be perfect. He has so much character development between Infinity War and Endgame that we just never get to see and that would be a perfect way to explain what happened. It would be so interesting to hear about the struggles of being the Hulk from his perspective and how he finally merged his two personalities into one in more detail than the little bit we got in Endgame and She-Hulk
A book from Kate bishop would work then ..her telling about how she saw Hawkeye as a kid in the first battle and her path and inspiration to becoming like him
That'd be cool
If they did an in-universe podcast, a series of True Crime podcasts would be great. They could do some episodes going over different characters we have seen dealing with characters we haven’t, like Captain Falcon working a case about Stiltman, or rumours that the Wrecking Crew were taken down by a new agent being called Captain Britain. You could also use the podcast to fill in details that would have bogged down a story, but the people in universe would like to know (aka fill in things people might think of as plot holes)
True crime podcast in the world of the MCU is... one of the best ideas I've ever heard. I would LOVE this!
I must say you should be on the marketing team for the MCU because this is an awesome idea! Make parodies of true crime podcasts- complete with fake advertisements
Expanding any TV or cinematic universe like this is just a dream come true for me. Like the Star Trek Technical Manual in the 90's it adds a whole new level of engagement with the stories.
I'd take your book recommendations within the universes you already discuss.
Big up the writers. They deserve more credit.
I'm going to have a look at that All The Marvel's too.
I would love an in-canon memoir about Tony Stark, with interviews with various people in Tony's life. Like, let me have Justin Hammer's reflection on their rivalry in book form
As a premise, a book about a superhero, framed as a biography of a hero looking back on their exploits, is a really interesting idea even if it was an original character. I wonder if it's been done before this.
Basically pitching Marvels (the comic book, not the new movie) as a movie or novel, it would be fantastic, seeing how an Everyman perceived the world of the MCU
This kind of reminds me of a thing that the Star Trek franchise does, where there are a series of books called “The Autobiography of [character]”, where it’s exactly what it says: in-universe autobiographies of characters like Spock and Kirk and Picard and Janeway, with them talking about their thoughts and perspectives on events we see them live through in the various shows.
I think the main benefit of a multi media story approach like this would be that not everything would have to be perfectly cannon because obviously all the characters won't have all the information in universe at their disposal plus they'd have normal human malleable memory and not tremendous things exactly, you coyly even have characters completely say things wrong like conversations or events that happened in movie
Having a free in universe podcast could be interesting. There is a comic going at the moment called No/One with a free in-universe podcast releasing along with it.
I feel like you wouldn't afford to get the main actors. But what if you got the background people from the shows and movies. For example, you could get an episode with the enslaved people from WandsVison or interviews with people from that wizard school Dr Strange comes from.
Welcome to nightvale vibes
There should be a book about the ethics & philosophy of the MCU, focused on the perspective of different movies, TV shows, characters, writers & directors.
Joanna Robinson’s book comes out 10/10. It kind of covers what you mean I think.
@@themanifesteffect Will Nando do a video on it? Eman?
@@NybergCarl She has an amazing podcast over on the Ringer where she talks MCU, Star Wars and Dr. Who -like content so in Nandos wheelhouse.. that would be pretty cool.
No actually the Happy Hogan book is gonna be an interquel that takes place during avengers 1 where Happy Hogan is actually in the middle of the action affecting everything slightly off-screen of the original movie.
That would be so funny
I was really hoping this would be way more focused about personal stories than it sounds like it is. I suppose it makes sense that in universe they'd want all the movie stuff though.
I guess i want the second book by Ant-Man, where he's scraping the barrel for cool stories 😋
I know that it gets a bad rap as silly romance stuff for teenage girls, but I would bet some of the ideas in this video have been covered by fanfiction. And yeah, it’s different from something from Marvel itself, buuuut it’s free and frequently more satisfying! AO3 in particular is well worth visiting
For real, I have a bunch of bookmarks over on Ao3 with similar concepts like this book. My favorites are always the ones that include news and social media, especially the ones with Steve Rogers.
I love this sort of thing. It's on my shopping list.
In-universe souvenirs really tickle my multiverse bone.
The only way I would ever buy one of these is if it's J Jonah Jameson's Conspiracy web (haha) about how spiderman is the ringleader behind everything that's happened in the MCU up to this point
18:20
i'm not sure if She-Hulk would make a podcast. I think her friend Nikki would have to needle her into making one. Like maybe it'd be in the school of superhero Legal stuff, like maybe she'd be like Legal Eagle. Hey, what if Legal Eagle helped them write a few episodes of that. And each episode is on a weird funny aspect of superhero law that makes up the MCU. And maybe bring on guests like Wong or Agatha Harkness to talk in the areas she's not as familiar with. Like magic, extra dimensional stuff, demon/devil stuff, multiversal incursions. oh and maybe to make things even funnier, maybe having a weird unlikely guest coming on and things go weird and bonkers, but Mobius comes in and they realize a few things went wrong to throw this universe out of place, so they end up pruning that whole episode. and this is considered a "Lost Episode." And there was some weird process to get this episode somehow because there's something weird in the episode numbers or the characters mention something is weird and missing. I don't know. Just an idea i thought could be interesting.
I think what'd be more likely would maybe be Wonderman inviting She-Hulk onto one of his podcast episodes.
I love superhero book-books. Super Powereds by Drew Hayes may very well be my favorite piece of superhero-related media. I cannot tell you how many times I've listened to those audiobooks over the last several years and I highly highly recommend them.
Technically I believe the Wakanda files is the first canon book followed by the book of the vishanti, and while I don’t know much about the second book I imagine this is the first book book like you said, the first is a collection of files and the second seems like an encyclopedia of magic stuff

thank you for reading the book.
i was curious what it'd be like.
I don't know if this is an eternal sin or not, but I am subscribed now to this channel without being subscribed to your main chanell.
There's a main channel?

the podcast idea sounds really nice as a fun tie in they could try later.
I’m surprised they didn’t do that for marketing
@@pugman9672 too bad they didn't.
The fact they didn’t drop this when the movie dropped is the most baffling thing to me
I need the audio book read by Paul Rudd like yesterday lol
Right?!? It's insane that they recorded a little bit of it, for the car scene, and didn't think to just have Paul Rudd record the whole book?!? Someone at Disney doesn't like money.
Love All the Marvels! The MCU should do a book by Luis just recapping all the movies based on how he understands it.
I’d watch a book review on The All of The Marvels book.
I maintain that in Black Widow, the punchline to Red Guardian insisting he fought Captain America should have been the revelation that he actually fought Hank Pym, and he still insists that Captain America can shrink when he wants to
If Paul Rudd does not do the audio book, then what is the point?
A book of World War Z style vignettes covering the last 20 years of the MCU world be amazing.
I think that there are some canonical books about when certain characters were younger. E.g. Loki.
That’s a mighty fine Sentinel you have back there. I have an older Hasbro one that lights up and is super posable. He’s the centerpiece of my X-Men collection. Edit: I also have those Scott and Jean figures in the background.
quantumania and the marvels swapped dates that's why the book is so late
Happy retelling his perspective on Avengers, Spider-Man, Endgame, etc would be really interesting
I see Charl!
The book was announced around the time the movie came out. (I thought it was a Paul Rudd memoir) I figured it came out now because I thought quantumania was gonna be put on Disney+ around this time
Yeah like the part with Cassies essay for example Scott really only heard the yellowjacket name one i feel like it would say “daddy later told me his name was Darrin” but thats an obvious nitpick
You could maybe talk about books that are similar genres to comic books? like sci fi or smthn. like im personally really enjoying the noumena series by lindsey ellis rn and would love to hear your thoughts on them?
The BTS of the MCU book in the style of World War Z (book not movie) would be amazing.
In the mcu Scott saw that aliens are real, so is killer ai, so is Atlantis, and there was a secret country in Africa, etc. That book ahould be wild
When you were talking about Happy Hogan I thought you were gonna say you wanted to see how he would write about his interactions with Spider-Man under the circumstances of his blurred memories of Spider-Man
I think they simply didn't care enough about an Ant-man 3 movie, to sync up the release date of book & movie, do more creative promotions, etc.
I'd love a show like Marvels by Kurt Busiek or Front Line. Following Phil Sheldon or Ben Urich reporting on and shedding more light on these big events
Ben Urich one would be pretty short since he died in DD season 1. But Phil Sheldon I’d love to see.
About what you mentioned at the start of the video about how besides tie-in comics, you think this is the first canon book... yes, kinda.
They did that Thanos book that was supposed to be canon to the MCU, telling the story about young Thanos, but then at some point they changed their mind and started saying the book wasn't supposed to be canon (which seems to be a pattern in the MCU).
Which btw I would love to hear your opinion on it if you want to read and make a video on it (as someone who follows everything MCU but reading these books is the one step too far to me lol).
What you’re talking about at 13:40 sounds a lot like Star Wars Forces of Destiny. They’re two minute, animated shorts that show us characters interacting who didn’t in their movie, or perspectives of events we didn’t get to see. It’s not super serious or high budget, but it’s fun and canon. I think the MCU could seriously benefit from something like this.
PLEASE a Booster Gold podcast. It would be so much fun!
All of the marvels sounds fun! Also I'd love a review of the anatomy of the marvel universe book. I think DC has one too
I loved loved loved the first part of All of the Marvels, very much described what I like about comics.
Would love to see your all the marvel’s book review
If they were to make another memoir like this where it’s based in the MCU, I would wanna see a book that goes over the events between the kang dynasty and secret wars. Like one of the main or side characters of the movies chronicle what they went through during those events. Maybe go a bit deeper like if during secret wars they do battle world like in the comics they can make someone right a memoir about living on battle world, that would be interesting.
The day someone actually hires you I'll be so happy
We need an audiobook narrated by Paul Rudd.
If you're looking for more books, Marvel released the wakanda files a few years ago and the complete timeline book. Not sure how interesting they are though.
We need a Rom-Com stating Wong called Wong-Com.
Okay but a Trevor Slattery podcast before the Wonder Man show would be amazing 😅
Absolutely
Let’s not forget Mitch got his hands on the yellow jacket fuel and that was never circled back on
People often use Spider-Man as an example of flawed historical analysis (just because he's from a real city doesn't mean the comics happened) but the existence of this book could seriously confuse a lot of people in the future. lol
I didn't realize they made an actual book
I wish I could read that Ant Man book but I can't read
wakanda files was the first canon in universe book
HELL YEAHHH
NANDO CAN READ, CONFIRMED!
Jim Butcher wrote a really good Spider-Man Novel.
Honestly I had zero idea if it was going to release after how long it was delayed...
What is up with the music in this video? I was listening in the car and it felt like an ice cream truck was following me everywhere I went
I mean. I get what you’re saying from a marketing perspective and trying to sell stuff, but I think with people feeling the MCU fatigue, I feel like people would be mad. Like this is canon and a pivotal thing in the actual movie. If they shoehorned in more books like that I feel like there could be an angry mob >.>
But in that being said. Seeing Mantis diary or something could be cool. The biggest thing that would help with marvel doing this is organization.
The MCU feels like Kevin is gearing up to retire or he took a vacation an an intern ran loose and fucked everything up as far as communication and vibes with the movies are concerned.
I have those comics on my desk too, ha.
A book from Peter quill would be great
Didn't Flash Thompson write a memoir in NWH? They shpuld produce that really cheaply as a novelty gift.
Dc did have paul dano write a riddler comic that place in the matt reeves universe. So kinda.
HES READING ALPHA FLIGHT AHHHHHHH
In the first minute of the video. That was Big Barda right? Was that art by Artgerm? Hm...
Solid video
I exclusively would read any and all J Jonah Jameson MCU books.
I thought it was Fake🤯
Pitch a Agents of Atlas movie
When I was a kid back in the 1980's I read the novelization of Spaceballs. It was ridiculous. Stupidest book I ever read in my life.
If you are looking for other movie/show adjacent content and have audible, I can’t recommend this enough. The Boys: Deeper and Deeper by Matt Berns. It’s an audible original narrated by Chace Crawford and it’s completely worth your time. It is a hilarious podcast interview with The Deep talking about his award winning book, Deeper. Amazing stuff.
I forgot about this but I listened to this too and it is sooooo funny
Another good comics-adjacent book to read is It's Superman! by Tom DeHaven
The General Ross memoir actually sounds so cool! The perspective of a political figure who has been around since the beginning of the MCU who hates superheroes could genuinely be fascinating.
This book is the street fighter II the movie the game of books
The Wakanda Files book was also cannon.
Not MCU but I would love to read Spider-Man: Threat or Menace? By J Jonah Jameson from the ps4 game
It like those jokes that never are funny but they keep saying it louder
I almost got it today but then realized it wasn't an audiobook. Pass. It'd be way more fun to listen to.
A book written by vision would probably end up so boring, an android is not exactly who i imagine to to write anything but the most dry text ever😂
Is it on audiobook?
No. Doesn't look like one exists.
I'd have preferred an auidobook version as well.
No audiobook that I can find on any sites, just the ebook exists it seems
