- idk if its overheating or gauge reads wrong but it never reaches H or fully hot but it when am not moving it goes from half to 3/4 and then fans kicks on then back to half is that normal?
camry overheating?
wrong temp gauge?
fans works late?
This is probably solved already. There are three coolant temperature sensors for ECU, the gauge and the radiator fan respectively. The symptom shows the gauge display above normal 3 o'clock position and it did react when fan kicked in.
So the the coolant temperature sensor for gauge could be bad - my first suspect.
If you disconnect the connector to the radiator fan, the fan would run unconditionally. I would presume the overheating disappears.
You need to get a OBD scanner to get the actual coolant temperature reading from the OBD scanner to decide the next step.
Mainly it's the thermostat, I had same problem. Changed radiator, and thermostat and works good now
thanks i think there was specific way to install thermostat on i didn't get it right
What was the cost if you don't mine
Check the Coolant Level and Condition as well as its Temp Sensor and/or the Thermostat (I wanna say its not opening soon enough but not positive)
coolant and thermostat is actually new idk about coolant temp sensor but it seems that the issues is either wrong gauge or fans comes on late for some reason that idk
@@toyotacamry1239 Is the thermostat the Toyota Genuine one? Also, did you orient the thermostat where you can see a loose metal ball on top the up position? Also, did you replace the seal on the thermostat?
Alot of people just wire a toggle switch to the fans an click it on whenever u feel is needed
Temperature control. Sensor. The plug is green. Next. To. Distributor cap. Ther is a grey plug next to it
It was thermostat not installed right
@@toyotacamry1239 o damn.
@@toyotacamry1239 mine has the same problem I've replaced the thermostat twice and still does the same thing. what else could it be anyone?. Help
@@babysparrow1 i am not sure i would say take it to the dealer let yhem diagnosis it and then u fix its worth it
Mine doing the same, can you give a part number please
Before u buy thermostat feel the radiator hose carefully that's connected to thermostat after you driven your car. If it's cold then it's the thermostat. If not then yes could be temp sensor
So..is the problem fixed..and if so,how did you fix..?!
Ours is doing that too. Temp should be right. Temp Gauge is wrong. I'm looking for calibration procedure now.
Boss do you have any other performance problems? It’s not really an issue since it doesn’t peak at all it is more of a concern. My car does it sometimes an 01.
If you were getting worried you should replace the engine coolant temperature sensor and also the fan switch at bottom of radiator.
If that doesn’t fix it, put in an alternate temperature thermostat that runs 10 or even 20 degrees cooler and you won’t see as many spikes hopefully. Peace.
Thx for the info i think it was thermostat
change the chamber that houses the water hose coming from the radiator. I don't really know what that part is called inside the bonnet.
So wat the problem how do we fix it
was it HEAD GASKETS?
Hello, I have the same problem, what is the solution?
Did you fix your camry ?
I used to have the same problem so i change the 3 temperature sensors buy ut oem one was on the radiator other was the gauge and the other one was the temperature sensor but the real problem was...air in the system and the thermostat was in wrong position..everyone thinks that the small hole above the thermostat should go up but the reality is that that small hole should go to your right an example marking 3pm on the clock..good luck
Sorry was between 1pm and 2pm on the clock dont go 3pm that is too much
@@benjaminmaldonado6667 thank you so much for this helpful info
so i cant see how is it matter what way that hole goes as long as it. fits?
@@toyotacamry1239 u have to take out the thermostat housing and see what way is your thermostat i recomend u to buy it at the toyota dealer oem is cheap is 20dls and has a little hole at the top...other thing is that the thermostat housing has a little mark on it...every mechanical RUclips video i have watch says the thermostat hole should be point at that way..and example is if u see needle clock the mark is point at 12pm...but the real way that little hole should point is between 1pm and 2pm.
@@toyotacamry1239 but first u have to see if the cooling fans are working if not check the relay or the cooling fan temperature switch
@@benjaminmaldonado6667 got. you thank you again for ur time
It could be a blow top gasket.
Did you fix the problem ???
Thermostat was not installed right
@@toyotacamry1239 I have a Camry 2000 and the coolant gauge does the same thing. I replaced the thermostat and the burp hole on thermostat put it between 1 and 2 o'clock. Is there a very specific way to install the thermostat and the direction of the burp hole?. Thanks
@@babysparrow1 were you able to fix it ??
No I tried everything still the same but still running good, as long as ac on , stays normal. Do you have any suggestion?.
